Isn't it mildly alarming that there has been no smoke about any other 2023 QB that ND is recruiting? Even if Carr was reclassifying, wouldn't there have been smoke about that? I think it's too quiet.

Can I switch gears and let you all know that Costco carries an organic brand of chicken nuggets that are a straight 100% copy of Chick-fil-A's nuggets?

For those of you with children that like Chick-Fil-A, it's a game changer.
Organic or Generic?

I haven't been able to figure out what ND's doing in QB recruiting, in general, for a long time now. Making a no-brainer, of course you do that call like accepting Carr's verbal even threw me off. I figured they were just going to keep waiting until Dante went to Oregon to do anything in 2023 or 2024.

IMO your 2023 QB will be CJ Carr or someone they flip later because of a coach departure, bad season etc.

BREAKING NEWS: Dante Moore taking a break from football.

“Dante Moore, 5 star blue chip QB, will take the next two years off to complete his Mormon Mission.”

Source - myself… I just felt like posting it.

All they've done is land consistent 4-5 star QBs over the past decade; whose fault do you think it is that that hardly any of them panned out? (hint, he now fakes a southern accent and does cringy videos grinding on his recruits).

Ignoring Crist, Keil, Golson, Zaire etc: for the sake of time on an already lengthy post, we can start with Wimbush.

Highly rated, top 50 player. Never got comfortable throwing the ball in this system. Sign (Almost) 5 star Phil, who knew he wouldn't want to compete for a job (even though he would've had two full seasons regardless of said competition) with a guy who ascended to the all-time winningest QB in program history, Ian Book?

Then we sign a consensus five star QB in Tyler Buchner, who didn't get to play his senior season, coupled with BK doing BK things and messing with the kid's mechanics, and his rating drops to a 97 after a camp circuit. Buchner is only a RS Freshman, and flashed at times. If you are so concerned about TB12, go look at Clausen and Quinn's freshman seasons and let me know who had the worst campaigns of the three. I think the staff did the right thing having a veteran like Coan and picking their spots with Buchner. If you were expecting him to be Johnny Manziel at 18 years old, we need to have a conversation about the unrealistic expectations some posters have.

Oh, and we recently landed a consensus five star in Carr ('23 or '24, to be determined).

QB recruiting has been just fine. Development? Not so much. However, Rees had his hands all over Book, so take that for what it's worth. People saying we NEED a five star every year (because real life is a video game, after all, and we can do it on NCAA 14!), again...I think we need to have a conversation about realistic expectations.

Sorry gentlemen, back on track. I've got a killer homemade sloppy joe recipe if anyone is interested.

Seems to me like they’re holding off 2023 until they get confirmation from Admissions and/or CJ he will reclassify. If for any reason he doesn’t, I could see them start looking for 2023 QBs

Wouldn’t Carr reclassifying help the 24 class?
Most of the time the skill players are playing with the quarterback a year or two ahead of them anyway.

To date, it appears that Dante has committed to TAM, michigan, MSU, OSU, Miami, Tennessee and now Oregon. Do you see the theme? Notre Dame is the only school he’s actually committed to, silently. I don’t understand why it’s a problem for him to enjoy the process especially if the staff know and are ok with it.

Would you guess that these kids are not getting paid while on some visits (example: Texas A&M)?

It seems every school has become the favourite for Dante and he continues to say nothing except for his visit photos which are now commonplace. I'm not sure where all the rumours come from. I don't think anyone knows what this kid is thinking and I don't think ND is any more out of it than they were in the thick of it months ago.

Yeah. It seems like the uncertainty around CJ reclassifying has kind of frozen other '23 and '24 QB recruiting for the moment. Hopefully it resolves fairly soon, and then if he stays in '24 they can work on the best-available flip for '23. Not ideal but big picture I'm not sure it's that big a deal either as long as it's clarified by, say, the start of this season.

Young Mr. Moore is such a Sphinx, but he gives everybody something to talk about (even though now that CJ Carr is coming, it doesn't seem to matter a lot.} This feels like a Romantic Comedy play (in the old definition of that, where everything ends Happily ever after.) CJ Carr reclassifies, Notre Dame signs Young Mr. Sayin next year. We have great Quarterbacking (behind our Mountainous Harry Hiestand OLines.) WRs finally see this and come running. And young Mr. Moore does whatever he decides to do and lives a blessed life.

The anticlimax to the four act play is that if Michigan isn't the one to sign Moore, their whole class goes into the Dumpster-Of-Mediocrity and Depression reigns in the Eastern part of the state. The Strange Coach there invents weird excuses, and looks longingly toward the transfer portal to fill the growing holes in his position group rooms. Michigan Football chat sites become even weirder than Notre Dame football chat sites and Common Sense Reality proves fictional after all. IE is determined to be merely part of The Matrix.

Unironically, USC and UCLA leaving the Pac 12 is great neg recruiting fodder. Conference is going to be the least relevant P5 conference and Oregon will more or less never be in prime time.
The problem is we might not be in a great spot either if we are still stuck playing more than half our games against the ACC, Stanford & Navy, plus whatever buy game we get in there.

I'll bet Oregon goes to the Big 10 too and it's announced before ESD, maybe well before.

I am not one to name call or hammer this high school aged athlete for not coming to a decision in a timeframe that is anyone's other than his own.

I will say, however, that he HAS TO see what Freeman is building at ND right now and realize that he has a door kicked wide open for him to be a part of it.

There is no problem here. The ACC isn't falling apart...yet. There is no need to make a proactive move when we are still scheduling heavyweights from all conferences and running through our ACC schedule.
