My read is that landing Carr probably gave them leverage to have an honest conversation with Moore and that it became clear in that conversation that he's in it for a pay day.

This whole thing reeks of "trust but verify"... Moore liked ND, made a commitment behind the scenes and gave assurances he'd go public after he wrapped up his visits, then when he didn't and made comments about dragging out the process ND probably saw warning signs. But there is asymmetrical downside vs upside to making any moves when you don't have leverage. So they've probably been recruiting '24 hard while sorting out that situation, and now have better leverage in the situation to have tough conversations.

Contrast all of this to, say, Del Alexander blindly trusting a situation for another six months and getting burned at the end.
except, BK isn't here to eat them all

I honestly don't get the moving on from Moore either unless the staff was getting tired of the games. Basically if Moore would have came out and committed by now would they have stopped going after Carr?

Seems like Moore made it clear he's no longer interested now that they have Carr &/or the staff decided with Carr in the fold it's time to open up 2023 QB recruiting, which may have been the deal breaker for Moore.

Based on what LAX said, it sounds pretty mutual. ND was looking for a commitment sooner, they didn't get it, timeline was going to be stretched further, so they focused hard on 2024 and are deciding to cast a new net on 2023 with after landing Carr in '24.

I'm perfectly fine with this supposed scenario. Moore was trying to have his cake and eat it too, and the staff finally had enough.

ISD reporting that they have more or less confirmed today that ND will be moving on from Dante Moore -- https://irishsportsdaily.com/forums/1/topics/73054.

Now, personally, I would bet that they reached out to Dante yesterday or today after Carr committed and talked things through with him, and this is more of two-way conversation than one-way. Just my personal hunch. But I expect them to open up the board to other candidates this week, and for Dante to ultimately sign with whoever gives him the most up front guaranteed money.
This is going to pay off in future years. The pendulum had swung too far in favor of the recruits for there to be any semblance of a rational process.

I dont wish any ill to Dante... but it really seems like his camp is mishandling the situation.

Not a good luck on Dante's part, if what's being reported about him giving the staff a silent is true. Also not a good look, once again, for Tommy. Going all in on a QB only to get burned. He needs to work wonders with Tyler and find a QB in the 2023 class that can play.

Dante talked to Freeman, Bowden and Rees daily. It was hardly a solely Tommy decision. And even more amazing Moore was willing to play games with those tight of relationships.

Looks like he deleted it

Weird as it showed that I posted it twice. Thought I was deleting only one.

Basically, we shouldn't let Carr's commitment stop us from acknowledging what a fuck up the QB recruiting has been. Vizzina is the composite #33 player in the country and IMO probably has a higher ceiling than Dante. Moreso, Vizz was a more natural cultural fit coming from a catholic family and a private school. Even if Dante makes it on campus, not convinced he'd make it 3/4 years here before seeking greener pastures.

That's why Tommy better get Tyler to reach his potential and/or get a kid in 2023 who can actually play.

What I read from all this is Moore will go on to be a hall of fame, Heisman winning QB and Carr will never play a down and the cfb level,… because fml

Someone posted earlier today, but there's been so many posts I'm not going to find it, that Clemson actually led for Vizzina around the time we chose to pursue Moore. So I don't think it's as black and white as some posters are making it seem that we just said "no thank you" to him coming here.

That all said, it was pretty obvious the staff preferred Moore's services.

I understand a lot of people want back to back five stars but I'm pretty shocked by the negative energy basically 24 hours after learning we are about to land a five star prospect at QB. The staff will land someone this cycle. Between Buchner and Carr, the future is very bright at the position.

ND had Vizzina’s parents in the bag apparently but may have been trailing Clemson for Chris himself. It was my opinion going into March it would seem easier to turn the tide on Vizzina then Moore. Obviously played out from there.

But some accounts of Arnold and Vizzina are getting twisted a bit retroactively.

I think they should've started calling the Avery Johnsons of the world in April once it became clear that Dante wasn't committing anytime soon and was taking visits.

This. At the first sign of not following the previously agreed script or schedule is when ND could have changed their course too. Maybe that was recruiting 2024 harder. That could very well be the answer. But I hope we aren’t calling Avery Johnson and Brock Glenn for the first time in 5 months today.

There's not another '23 QB we've got a shot at who's remotely as good as Sayin, so I'd be confirming whether or not Carr can reclassify before I start scrambling for a depth piece.

'23 Carr + '24 Sayin >>> '24 Carr + whoever we'd settle on for '23.

This. I'd be pushing hard for this and playing the "one year closer to (having an ND degree if you want and) being paid in the NFL."

To be honest, some of us never liked this from beginning. I felt like I was pretty vocal about it. We saw this coming and talked about it at length. Yet, we were constantly reminded that Loy was confident or Sampson was confident, yada yada yada. All the while the red flags were apparent. This is undoubtedly a stain for the staff. Frustrating as it was completely avoidable. However, I do absolve them of some responsibility due to the fact they had to deal with such dishonest people.
