I mean sort of, yeah…but the kid isn’t much older than 17 and he’s parlayed his niche into a job with On3 and a Twitter following of 72k users. He’s doing what he loves and probably bankrolling more than most of us while doing it.

Keeley has really only been linked to those four schools. Would be kind of weird and needless pot-stirring to just put in him in, like, a Michigan uniform for the fun of it.

Still crazy to me that ND is just completely out of consideration with the “uncle” coming into play. One would think Keon essentially being apart of the die hard ND Reeder family would trump a random uncle.

Forgive me for forgetting the philosophical/theological term for the argument, but this is like the whole "You might as well believe in God, because if you don't AND you're wrong, you go to Hell" belief system.

This guy is probably not Jerry Rice... but if he is, you're going to look like a fool for doubting him. You're keeping yourself out of harm's way if you just go ahead and believe him.

I mean, there was a pretty intentional choice a few years ago to shift away from Florida after we had a bunch of high-profile recruits who flamed out. Looks like we have three Florida kids on the current team, the most impactful of whom is... Joe Wilkins. (Houston Griffith went to IMG but isn't he from Chicago?)
I feel like the last good Florida players we had were Tevon Coney and Dexter Williams? Am I missing someone?

You could add Tony Jones, Jr and Kevin Austin.

If everyone remembers, many recruiting services and talking heads of ND applauded them for getting back into Florida in the 2016 class - a class that included 7 players from Florida!

Tony Jones Jr, Jonathan Jones, Parker Boudreaux, Devin Studstill, Spencer Perry, Kevin Stepherson & Deon McIntosh.

2 were graduate transfers (Studstill & Jon Jones), 2 transfered without a degree (Boudreaux & Perry), and 2 were dismissed (Stepherson & McIntosh).

The following few classes, ND continued a recruiting spree in Florida signing 8 players from Florida in 2017 & 2018.
  • Robert Hainsey (IMG transfer from PA)
  • Dillon Gibbons
  • Jonathon MacCollister
  • Drew White
  • Houston Griffith (IMG transfer from IL)
  • Kevin Austin
  • George Takacs
  • Joe Wilkins
ND had pretty much shutdown recruiting in Florida since... zero players signed in 2019, 2020, and 2022 classes. But that trend is going to fade. ND is targeting Florida heavily now.... they have sent out 27 offers to Florida players, tied for most per state with Texas. And for 2024, 21 offers have gone out to Florida prospects.

Florida will be here to stay under Freeman and this staff.

Oh, yeah, forgot about the 2016-2018 spurt. Weird how it comes and goes.
Hainsey (though I don't really think of IMG kids as Florida kids, necessarily), Drew White and Tony Jones - wasn't he IMG as well? - were good ballplayers. Austin, yeah. Stepherson will always be a Cautionary Tale.

But if anything the added data suggests we're not really missing a ton by not recruiting Florida more. Unless you're a street agent in Florida in which case it's probably good for business to have ND around down there.

Florida pumps out a metric fuck ton of talent. It has large population centers that are easily accessible to go visit said talent. ND should be visiting.
