If he got all buthurt over a rumor that the staff liked Paige just as much as him then I'm not sure he'd make it at ND. He'd probably transfer if he got beat out/didn't start right away.
You are right he "apparently" did get upset. Who knows how he would have done.

SC has four OL verbals, all three star players, and received all four in a two month period from mid June to mid August.

Circling back is an understatement. This guy becomes their crown jewel OL recruit the minute he walks in the door.

USC hasn't exactly been a hotbed for OL recruiting/development. I get that he walks in being the prize among a bunch of 3 stars, but they haven't exactly had a track record like Harry.

I don't disagree. Reaffirming what Dale said before. SC missed on their top targets and are circling back.

Paige is easily higher rated than their current verbals.

Their offense already looks good. They are going to be a real problem for us on and off the field going forward.
ND cant build a great o line with amazing classes every year. What's losing one great recruit anyway? Am I right?

There's a few possible reasons for any player who decommits like this:

1. Grades
2. Out-recruited by another school (neg recruiting, great salesmanship, etc)
3. Bag man
4. girlfriend

Kelly mentions the cancelled visits. Good for us at the time, have to wonder if he ever ends up committing if he had played out the process though.

Losing can't help. Perhaps everyone including the recruits are realizing Marcus Freeman isn't going to be a sure-fire Natty winner. He better tell Boy Rees to open up the offense.

We are out of the Top 25 in no time.

USC wins 3 games against shit teams and now they are the new Bama I guess
Has anyone ever not committed to a school citing their out-of-conference schedule being too weak? Playing shit teams to extend your preseason seems to be the norm of just about every hight profile top tier team. Time to stop sticking our noses up and just play Marshall every week... oh wait.

Who knows, but in the long run I think you're better off when kids take their time (and some visits) and commit knowing the full lay of the land rather than commit fast on an early visit and then get second thoughts and wandering eyes later in the cycle.

We have 3 flips in this cycle, including our last two commits.
The three flips we have were from Stanford, Kansas State and Boston College.

Those were situations where ND was a game-changing offer for 3 guys that committed to mid-power 5 programs.

That shouldn't be happening to ND, especially if recruiting is the name of the game for MF.

When MF wins a championship in the next 3 years I bet he’ll wish he would have stayed. No italics.
