Don't wanna get people nervous by bumping this thread lol.

Yesterday, Buchner did a zoom call for IPC. Little tidbit: He said that Tobias is killing it and is going to surprise people this fall.
Facts...Buchner made it a point to say that Tobias is a hard worker. Sky seems to be the limit for Tobias, especially if he keeps busting his a** for the next three to four years like he is currently.

I hope he earns lots of reps, would love to see him out there with Styles and getting shots with the 1st team. Some of these upperclassmen haven't proven much, we need these young guys to push them or unseat them.

MFMF has talked a lot about depth. Expect to see the young 'uns out the because that is how you develop depth

Prister said today in the IrishIllustrated podcast that he's hearing good things about Merriweather "all the time".

Looks like a upperclassman on Day 1.

There only two reasons you could stand out this much.

1. You’re a fucking freak future AA phenom
2. Your old receiver coach sucked so bad, the true freshman makes them all look bad.

I’m going to say it’s the former.

Or...

3. Coach speak to motivate the WR room

It’s not only coming from the coaches. Players, media, etc. Driskell has consistently said since signing day that this kid was going to be incredible. I rolled my eyes, but maybe he’s onto something.

Another reminder here.
Freeman said in his presser that they're being intentional with giving Freshmen meaningful reps this camp.

Aka, Tobias actually has a chance of being ready, unlike the previous coach who would make them wait their turn.

Well there’s no one to wait behind lol. Only Colzie who’s a RS FR in of himself.

One report from The Athletic, said he looked very comfortable at practice from the get go. Many tines it takes kids several days to understand the routine and intensity of the practices.

Not surprising to anyone who saw him at All-Star games, IMO. Dude has all the ability you need, if anything he just needs to fill out a little more to be game ready.

The WR situation looks really different if you assume Thomas/Merriweather are ready to be big time players. I'm not sure that they are, but IF they are, then your passing attack can be dynamic with Styles+Mayer+one other WR that can get separation. Virtually no one in CFB has three DBs that can cover an elite WR/TE 1v1. A lot have one guy, some have two.

This is absolutely how I view it. I know they can try to shade coverage to take away 1 top target. Really good teams can sometimes take away or minimize 2 targets. If you have either a 2nd/3rd WR, a 2nd TE or a RB with great hands, then you have enough weapons to really put the defenses in a bind.

It's one thing to scheme guys open. It's another to have guys who get open on athletic talent. Can't wait to see what we have but with Tyree, Estime, Thomas, Lenzy, Merriweather, Bauman, Staes, Raridon, Berrong. Surely we can find a 3rd and 4th playmaker to pair with Mayer and Styles.

Then we just need the QB to find and deliver to open receiver.

I remember in 2015 teams either trying to blanket Will Fuller or playing the run to stop CJ Prosise. Neither ended up working particularly well for the opposing defenses.

And I’m not sure OSU is in either of those two groups:censored:

I was hoping to see Jadarian Price added to the mix at RB because I think he was going to have a hell of a year for us with his speed.

True, buy my post was more of a "all (most?) of the freshmen are getting intentional reps." Aka, Freeman is putting them in position to push for meaningful reps this year. Now, pair that with NDs WR lack of depth (as you mentioned) and I see almost no scenario where Tobias is not playing a really, really good amount this year (if not outright starter).

Gotta be Powlus right?

That's what I said... Can you imagine? Also I almost want Stevie to win the job just for the LOL/OMG heads exploding entertainment factor.

I don't really want that to happen unless he is legit the best of the bunch.
