Well, we’re not going to be down 14 in the fourth so this dispute is meaningless.
Steve will be the starter next year and lead us back to the championship game.
I'm not so sure of that. It's possible, but I'm thinking CJ Carr may have something to say about that. IF Angeli stays, I'd expect Minchey to look elsewhere. I hope not, but ....

Not a chance Angeli starts here next season. If that was how things were trending, they would have gone to the portal again.

Really hard to answer if Angeli transfers without knowing what he values above all else. He will 100% have a shot at winning the job. Money won’t be concern either.

Maybe somewhere back home if he transfers or close to home where he can play and start.

We also don't know how Freeman handles a QB competition. Does he let everyone know where they stand but keep it an actual competition until later in fall camp or does he set an early deadline to pick a guy and ride with him? Also, how long of a leash does he give a first time starter QB? He has obviously stood behind his guy each year so far, but all of those guys were either the obvious pick (Buchner) or had lots of experience. Now we are going to have a situation where all the guys are kind of unknowns when it comes to game action.

+5000 odds on FanDuel to win the Heisman pretty crazy considering Love is only +4500

If Angeli can start on any serious team, it's probably the one with this offensive line and running back group. All of the 3 scholarship QBs returning from last years team can win the job.

I think he will take the first snap.

But he won’t make half the year before CJ pops in

He can pass at a high percentage level to that big fella Field and every now and then (twice a game) throw over the top to Greathouse making one hander for 50 yards. It should be good.

Fans will have mixed feelings and justifiably so, Steve helped this program. But IMO this is the best case scenario for the 2025 and 2026 teams. Minchey and Carr are clear talents who will get better with every rep in fall and in games.

If this happens that is.
If this is what happens I would tend to agree.
Nothing but respect for Steve, and he may well give us the best chance to beat Miami. But the others give us a better chance to win in the postseason and that matters more.

It was stated that the staff feels 2026 is our next legit shot at a title. I support the decision to ride with a younger guy. IMO think we can get to playoffs this year but willing to take lumps. As much as I loved Steve and his ability to help the team, we were not taking a step forward in our offense with him at QB. If he leaves, wish him nothing but success except if he plays ND.

F*** 2026 and what the staff thinks, I'm ready to win a Natty (with Carr) this year.

Unless of course you were referring to the 25-26 season

Who/where was it said that 2026 is the next shot at the title?

On offense we will have a better OL, better WRs, and better RBs (don't think this is debatable). The only question is QB and while Riley is one of my favorite all time ND players, there is an opportunity for big improvement there.

On defense we will have (partially due to health) better DL (no debate there, right?), and unequivocally better LBs. CBs will be better (Ben Mo didn't really play), but safety should take a step back.

IDK how 2025 isn't our year TBH.

If the staff knows Carr is going to start, they would be doing Steve a solid by letting him go somewhere to go play.

Having said that, the team is definitely better with Steve on it, ideally as the number 2. I would imagine the staff would be pretty nervous about neither of their top QBs having any playing experience.
