I think this is you reading “edgy” into it. I took it as him delighting in it. Heistand going to USC and selling his successes to make USC an OL power would be a power move. That’s what ND is doing. It was a compliment.

Which makes me wonder exactly whose side he's on...


Edit: I guess the one that was posted first in this thread was posted second by Pete. The second tweet does sound more positive. But it's still hard to read his emotions on it when he uses a term like "appropriated".

Basically. ND is hoping he holds off until the June visit date. If for some reason that date gets pushed back, I'd be shocked if Shipley rescheduled. He wants the process to be over but Taylor and ND have done everything they can to get him back on campus for the academic presentation and time around the team.

I'm in the group that believes:

If he makes it back to ND, they win out.
If not, clearly a Clemson lean.

Me too, but it's very close. I think the virtual OV went a long way in evening the playing field even without the visit but I can't seem to get over the hump in thinking we'll land him without it. But, again, I think it's very close.

I thought Freeman at ISD brought up something very important about the OV. It's getting Will comfortable with the travel. Sounds like for his unofficial last Fall they took a couple indirect flights and then drove in and out of South Bend. Showing Will he can get directs flights into South Bend and how easy that travel is could be very important.

Nice share as always. First 30 minutes all Shipley talk. Definitely worth a listen and would love to hear everyone's opinions.

My take aways:
-Likely to commit before June Visit to ND, could be in a couple weeks
(initial plan was to commit in April)
-"Too close to call" but Karels predicts ND
-Weather won't be a factor
-Distance won't be THE determining factor
"2 hour car ride vs 2 hour plane ride."
-ND recruiting him the hardest, Clemson letting him figure it out on his own more
-Closest with ND coaches and commits - Fisher and Buchner and Lance Taylor
-He wanted to get the vibe of the locker room by interacting with current players, not just commits. This seemed to be his last question and a priority of his which he appeared to have received during virtual visit as he has texted, called, and played video games with guys on the roster.
-Does he pick between power house program vs fit and relationships?
-Will be enrolling early

The interview left an impression he may lean towards relationships. He is well spoken with a good head on his shoulders. I love the story of mailing Fisher a bday card. Religion is important (although present with both, ND>Clemson). I didn't love the beginning of interview where he stated he probably wouldn’t wait for June visit before he commits. As the conversation went on however, it sounded possible this could be a good thing. He met the rosters, understood the academics, visited the campuses, and just needs to cement a decision. He shared a desire to end the recruiting process and focus on his new home.
