Agree. I also think though, if he stayed, it could’ve stunted the growth of Minchey, Angeli, Carr and ND in general since he has a low ceiling imo. I think he’d have started in 2024 and 2025 and been just okay. Instead, it’ll likely be a Gameday decision between Minchey, Angeli and Carr (I see the above as the depth chart next season) for who takes the field vs ATM. All of them will get more reps, hype, and be less likely to transfer before the 2025 season.
Yep. Personally, I was happy to see him leave. We have Sam, and some very exciting young QB's. Been a long time since ND had this much QB depth. Very excited about this season and the seasons to come with some of these guys under center.

This is how I feel. He played 1 year of high school football and I think he was overrated coming out of high school.

Kelly & Rees had a great role for him in 21- a reliever/change up QB. He wasn't starting over Coan. If Coan had another year I would've brought Coan back. I was a big Coan fan.

Did his injury set him back last season & if not could he have handled the pressure?

He decided to leave, this year I would've had a similar role for him like 21.

ND is better off without Buchner.

The only thing you can get out Angeli playing to day is he got real game experience and he looked good in the pocket. He stood in and and even took one hell of a shot.

Buchner came in during the 3rd quarter to take over for Milroe. So far, so good. He hasn't looked brilliant, but has done well. Just pushed the team down the field and scored on a 9-yard scramble.

The biggest thing for me is the stylistic difference. Between Coan, Buchner, Hartman, Angeli, Minchey, and Carr, Buchner is clearly the outlier in terms of his skill set.

Besides me not thinking he’s that good to begin with, I wouldn’t really want to have to change our offensive style from Hartman back to Buchner back to being more pocket driven after Buchner moved on.

$20 says Buchner gets injured in his first game and Milroe finishes the season.

I'm not sure what it is about Buchner, but I've never seen a single player get absolutely smoked so many times. There is no way his frame can handle the constant beatings.

Was he named the starter?

From last we saw of Buch, he’s likely not ready to win a college playoff game. However, we also saw that he can be very dangerous if the coaches give him the space to be so. Which means living with mistakes and some of his erratic throws/decisions. Though, I never thought that seemed like a good marriage with Saban.

If Buchner puts it all together, he could be a hell of a problem for opposing teams but he's not as athletics as Milroe (but close) and I'm not sure he's that much of an improvement when it comes to reading defenses. He has a strong arm. Will be fun to watch. Really can't wait for Bama vs LSU

Yeah, Saban doesn't strike me the type to be tolerant of mistakes. lol

Well whoever gets the start this week should look good against a shitty team so if Buchner gets his shot he will be the guy until he isn’t. Would be wild since Millie was getting props against lousy competition like many QBs in CFB who will soon come down to earth with decent competition. I hope TB does well but not good enough to miss him. If Sam ever goes down TB will kick himself for leaving.

Buchner is a less athletic Milroe. Bold strategy let's see how it works out for them.
