As far as decision to give ALL players a straight 5 years of playing eligibility with no restrictions, this article states: "The topic will be discussed by the NCAA early this year..."

2023 Top 100 CB Calvin Simson-Hunt transfering from OSU.

Talented kid who was going to compete for a starting spot. Great example of how UGA / Bama / OSU aren't going to be able to hoard elite talent like they used to.

After watching Leonard succeed last night, I would like to flip flop on my position re: Jalen Milroe. I think he could light it up next year at ND and I'm slightly concerned about what our team will look like without a strong QB run game.

I think the run game will be better if whomever is the QB is an effective downfield passer. I mean QB run is just numbers. It’s a +1 to the offense. But teams rarely didn’t pack the box against us so that’s a -1 or even -2. If you have to respect the pass game, and the OL is better, it’ll all even out

The offense should be much better next year at just about every position

A competent (and consistent) QB will unlock the offense. Being even remotely mobile will be a bonus. This is just another reason why it needs to be Carr or Minchey and not Angeli. He's too much of a statue.

I would have thought that if Onye was going to transfer, he would have done it already right?

He’s got 5 days to do it.
Yes, but unlike the guys who were playing/with the team, he could already be enrolled at his new school if he wanted to. The fact that he didn't leave in December suggests he might be staying. But we'll see.

He'd also be able 5th year next year, so he could go whenever he wants
Damn. This was his fourth season. How has he been here that long?
Though to grad transfer, I believe one has to graduate. Has he? He probably missed this semester so the 3 1/2 year plan might not work. Can’t remember if he EE’d.

You gotta live with Milroe’s turnovers and horrible reads though. His athleticism would only take you so far. Loved his spirit, just could never trust him when it mattered.

I think we're "reloading" as much/more than Penn State. Also, OSU changed their QB which appeared to have paid off. Although McCord is very good. PSU will probably be in the playoffs again but we should be too.

We “reloading” ours?

I don't really understand all the Penn State hype? They were fine, good even. Nice that the RBs are coming back and they had a good OL, but they lose Warren and all the best players on their defense. Allar will still be Allar. James Franklin will still be James Franklin. At best they'll be what they were this year, a playoff team but not an especially scary one. Am I missing something?

We on the other hand have proven players returning at nearly every position. Just need to nail the QB choice. No biggie. ;)

They lose their two best players and WR is still a huge question mark.
