Also, I wonder, now that precedent has been set: Next year's squads having seen leverage in certain schools to have to be paid to even play at all --- how effective is the extra cash layout? and does it affect the lower paid or higher team-committed players? Are some "cultures", already teetering towards "grab-it-and-run" mindsets, fall apart into pure greed and ego sewage holes? This will be interesting to see.

It will also be interesting to listen to the apologists If this REALLY hurts college football.

OMM, I believe Saban has already answered this question and it is one of the reasons he retired when he did. If Saban was having trouble maintaining culture at Alabama, I imagine it's basically everywhere.

Why not just add OSU into the SEC tournament, play all the teams, and crown immediately? Wouldn't that be more fair?

... (( I mean Texas is now in, Oregon is an obvious outlier, Notre Dame has never deserved anything, Dabo has lost it ... maybe add Penn State they kind of feel right don't they? ... wonder if FSU can come back? ....... seems pretty clear ........ ))

This didn't take long...
Looks like it was written before the games ever took place by someone that nobody obviously knows on a web site called fanrumor. If we spent time looking, there probably hundreds of similar articles by people who are totally insignificant in the industry.

Anyone have any experience with the CFP rsvp website....where you pay X dollars based on your team...and if they make it you can purchase tickets to the Natty at face value? I didn't see the link as I don't even know if it's legit.

It's such a stupid argument and they're all guilty of it. Finebaum, Herbstreit, even McDonough.

In EVERY SINGLE model, Indiana was a top 12 football team. SP+, Sagarin, BCS, Anderson & Hester, Colley Matrix, AP, Coaches, all of them. It wasn't the committee. It was unanimous that Indiana was a top 12 team this year.

If there was an issue with Indiana in the playoff, it's not the committee's fault. It's that we shouldn't have a 12-team playoff in the first place.

This article you linked has way more glaring faults than its stupid argument. It refers to Alabama’s two losses being against playoff caliber teams, except it had 3 losses, two of which were to very mediocre teams. It also mentions SMU’s AAC schedule. If they can’t get basic facts like record and conference membership of the main teams in the story right, I think we can just throw this particular article out.

I don't think you could've left Indiana out. They should've been in. SMU was the one that was borderline. Their SOS was suspect at best. They had a pretty resume, but hardly anyone who knows football thought they were actually one of the 12 best teams in the country. Should my guys have gotten that 12th spot? I'm not even going to argue they should have. They were certainly a stronger team than SMU and would've been a lot more competitive, but you can't ignore the 3 losses, 2 of which were just bad. Not sure who you put in that 12th spot. I just know that SMU was there for the wrong reasons.

No way in hell should Alabama, Ole Miss or South Carolina have gotten in over SMU. All three have 3 losses, Alabama and Ole Miss had bad losses and SCar lost to both. SMU had one regular season lost and it was by 3 to a current top 20 team.

We will see, I still think the SEC was overvalued this year. If ND knocks out Georgia, nobody will be surprised. Texas losing would be an upset. There is a chance we see a semifinal without an SEC team. Maybe someday, if it continues, we'll see a world in which SEC fans don't act like spoiled children.
