Yeah, could see IU dropping below us if they get creamed. But we could easily be looking up at two Big Ten teams whose best accomplishment is losing games to Ohio State that were close-ish but never really in doubt. Silly.
IU played a good defense in scUM and won. They have a better D than OSU IMO. I see this being more of a shootout which would benefit IU. I'm still not totally sold on IU, but I don't see them getting creamed or crimsoned. I'll show myself out.

I don’t think IU is locked in at 5 or 6. Buckeyes could pummel them knock their lovely eye test into strength of schedule reality and a 9-11 slot.

There is no chance IU is ranked ahead of ND if they lose to OSU. They've beaten ONE team with a winning record so far. Take a look at the record of their opponents below. If they lose to Ohio State, they’re likely out of the playoff entirely.

I've been saying this for weeks. They are fool's gold and nobody is really talking about it on the national stage. I get it, it's a fun story, but at some point, you have to consider the facts at hand. Not an impressive resume, at all.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth would be amazing if/when IU loses to anOSU, but drops only to #12 and keeps UGA out looking in.
Its fine if they drop out the following week, but the schadenboner would last more than 4 hours.

They would lose their minds, and rightfully so. Georgia has looked unimpressive all year but if they finish the year 10-2 with their schedule, it's just simply better than IU's resume, and that's plainly obvious. I don't think there is any chance of Georgia not making it into the playoffs if they win out.

Here's a dream scenario - Georgia beats Tennessee to give them their second loss. Tennessee loses to Vandy, and Georgia falls to Georgia Tech in the final week of the season, leaving both teams with three losses.

If IU gets boat raced like I think they will, they will drop to 13 or lower. They got lucky af not having Oregon, and actually unlucky not getting PSU as they'd have a good chance of beating them.

If they lose a close one, I could see the committee keeping them in the top 11 and your beautiful scenario will be hilarious to watch.

A team of 2-3 stars beating NIL powerhouses. This is an amazing example of development and scheme. Wonder why ND has never been able to do this?

Do we really want to hope for OSU? If Indiana wins, that's an easier team in the playoff and yesterday's rankings show us OSU will be behind ND, and likely behind Georgia given OSU would be 1-2 vs their only ranked teams all year. Go Hoosiers?

Other than the last couple of Ty classes, we've never had a bunch of 2 and 3 stars.

Except for scUM, there are no NIL powerhouses on their schedule. UW did their "let's be really good once every 7-8 years" thing last year. Nebraska is still not the Nebraska of old. Sparty, UCLA Northwestern and Maryland aren't playing in the NIL arena enough to make a difference.

Now Listen, what if
they play someone suckier
like when they play scUM?
The only justice and thing I would hope for would be for the Earth to split the field starting at the 50 yard line and swallow both teams whole.

If we win out ESPNs allstate playoff predictor has us with an 87% chance of hosting a first round home game. Has us then making it to the NC

Sort of what I'm hoping for. We're going to play a big SEC school at some point, if possible I'd rather play them at home in December and then play some patsy from the Big 12 or ACC in Round 2.

Edit: Just looked closer at your scenario, if Penn State gets to play Tulane, Boise State and then Indiana on their way to the NC I would be so pissed lol.

the big ten could very well get 4 teams in if the buckeyes beat IU but only by 3 pts and then beats an undefeated ducks team in a close game while IU and PSU finish season with only one loss each

Big Ten probably will get four teams in.

Oregon and Ohio State are effectively locks at this point. Even if Ohio State finished 10-2.

Penn State will be in if they don’t get wildly upset in the next few weeks. They’d actually be better off not making the Big Ten title game and finishing 11-1.

Indiana feels like the only question mark but even there at 11-1 it’s going to be hard to keep them out.

No it won't. They will be sacrificed to get another SEC team in.

The CFP will for sure put in 4 SEC teams (even if one of those teams has 3 losses) and 4 Big 10 teams in the playoff. Add that to the ACC and Big 12, plus the Group of 5 highest ranked. That's 11 teams for sure in. What happens if Colorado wins out, then the Big 12 could get 2 teams in. I'm sure there's something similar in the ACC.

I know these things work themselves out 99% of the time, but there's some scary options out there.

Yeah. The four Big Ten/four SEC model doesn't leave much margin for error for us. Though I do think we'd get in over an 11-1 IU, at least, and perhaps certain two-loss SEC teams.

I'm going to be very pissed actually if a mediocre at best Indiana team beats Ohio St when I've been waiting my whole life to watch Notre Dame beat Ohio St
