2023 Transfer QB

I actually really like DJU for us. At least for next year, we should be able to have a similar power run heavy approach. That will mean a lot of heavy boxes which will open up the deep ball, which seems to be one of his strengths.

I can’t believe that current DJU is the same QB ghat played against us 2 years ago. I thought that kid was going to be an absolute terror.

When they played ND it was all about him and the constant family in the stands.

No preference and no snark. I just don’t know much about him and was hoping someone could give a quick run down/recap on why he’s the guy.

He was a top 100 recruit and has the tools to back it up; both as an athlete and the arm talent.

He’s not exceptionally experienced (194 attempts) but he’s not entirely green either. His numbers are pretty good: only 2 career INTs and this year he completed almost 70% of his passes in (I think) 4 starts.

Subjectively, I also think he’s a fit for ND’s system.

He’s a high ceiling guy with a much higher floor than anybody else on the roster. The alternatives are guys with more experience, lower ceilings (and worse 2022 numbers); guys with injury question marks; or (in the case of Brennan Armstrong) a guy coming off a terrible season.

I could be selectively weighing facts but it seems to make sense. He's got 2-3 years of eligibility, so may be open to a situation where theres a QB competition in the Spring. Hypothetically if he doesn't win the job, he's able to try somewhere else.

Funny thing is all these transferees see only blue skies ahead and sometimes its a big mistake. Max Johnson who had a great year at LSU transferred last year to ATM and only started a handful of games and played only so-so.

Yeah, Mike at ISD implied something similar that discussions were being made.

Frankly, I don't like it, but I think ND really needs to re-examine both it's NIL stance and it's transfer policy.

Not just for the fact that it keeps ND competitive in football, but just...ND's transfer policy seems really outdated in general. A LOT of ND's academic policies seem outdated.

Do we really know anything about our NIL policy or is it total speculation about money being offered and to whom?

I know there is an alumni group paying significant money and a few guys who have specific deals. Beyond that I don’t know our stance. I would be happy to be educated of where we stand versus other schools, excluding A&M and Oregon.

Do we really know if we are being outbid and if so, by how much?

Will these payments all become public at some point?

I saw a tweet about a week ago that showed average $ per player. I don't remember if I saw it here or just on Twitter. Notre Dame was in the top ten though.

I'm not sure Hudson Card fits the Rees mold, either. Cade McNamara definitely would've been a fit.
