If Powlus scholly opened up I would let someone like Slovis come hold the clip board. Get your masters here and worst case he’s better than Pyne was this year if called on after the other transfer and Buchner get hurt

I worked professionally while going for my masters degree and took a few semesters off between classes depending what I had going on at my job. All in all, it took me like 5 years to graduate. During my last semester I met with my counselor and was going over all the courses and found out I was 3 credits short. The university somehow lost a class I took. I had all the assignments and tests saved on a flash drive. The professor even backed me up and told the department that I had all the assignments. This loser do-nothing who has never had a real job but somehow was running the department told me “oh well! You have to take it again. Just take out another loan.” I was livid and got into a heated argument with her and was told that I am not MPA material. Luckily I was on a dual degree track and happily withdrew from the MPA program. My new advisor was really cool and let me take an independent study with him to get the credits but it still pushed my graduation another semester.

So yeahhh… it’s real easy for colleges to screw over kids. Especially when the college knows the student doesn’t really have any choice but to pay to play

ND is going to have a lot of options regardless of what happens with Card. But you have to be asking yourself how many of these guys hitting the portal have NFL futures? If you can't get an NFL guy, there's almost no point in taking someone just to take someone.

I dunno. After this season I think there’s value in having even just a competent P5-level starter (Slovis, Vandy guy, whoever) who can play if needed. If Buchner beats him out, fine, he’s still there in case of emergency.

If he graduates this month it's smooth sailing. I've heard he may not actually be able to get his degree from Texas this month which would throw a wrench in things. If he has another semester to go then things go sideways pretty quickly and you're talking about either having to make "exceptions."

Card. I was sorta on the fence but my dad is friends with a big money Texas booster guy who basically said he's better than Ewers and would've won the competition had it been fair. If that's even remotely close to being true then he's exactly the kind of dual threat QB that can take ND's offense up a notch with our OL/running game.

If we don't get Card, it'll be because an SEC team made an offer to good to refuse or admissions fucked up and I really hope it's the former not the latter.

No inside info, but my guess is Daniels or Slovis.
Can’t remember the source, but I remember hearing a school out west (Oregon St?) had inquired about Daniels & they were given the bare minimum that he required which included a huge rental house among other perks.

Not sure how many of you have watched Leary play but I get a nice feeling in my plums thinking about what he could do with the line we have and run game.

We have been spoiled for a long time not having a QB that throws picks…I know not everyone was a fan of Book/Pyne skill set but Buchner throws picks. I’m not saying we need a game manager but we do need a refined passer that understands risk reward. I haven’t seen enough of Card but what I have seen I think he has the most natural talent of all the options.

1. Leary
2. Card * I’d take the risk on his talent

You would think this shit is straight forward, but honestly "credits" and such can be super stupid. Administrators at colleges are idiots sometimes (as are their systems that they rely on to know whether someone in on a "degree track" or satisfied requirements for a degree).

I have a long personal story I won't waste all your time with the details but when I was at ND I had an adviser make an "oopsie" telling me I tested out of statistics (turned out engineers had to take a special one that the AP exam doesn't preclude you form) and I didn't find until I was heading into my senior year and it wouldn't let me sign up for some specific 400 level engineering courses. Ended up having to do summer school in a foreign country to get the credits or I literally wouldn't have been able to graduate on time.

Bottom line is that athletes have weird class schedules to accommodate practices and credits and it's really easy for someone to get in a situation where they're like "oops you need 3 more credit hours." And I'm not saying that's what's happening here and he's short credits, I just know that he intimated to ND that he'd graduate this December and if that holds true we're good. Also, add onto that Card is a business major and getting a real degree here.
Wow same thing happened to me, except I didn't find out about a missing credit until spring semester of my senior year. I was missing a social science credit even though my major was a social science. Notre Dame's reasoning was that it needed to be a social science course outside of my major. I tried to appeal this and wrote to the dean committee to waive this requirement but they unanimously rejected it. My only option was to take a summer course - I was poor at the time so there's no way I could take it at ND in the summer.

Getting a course from an outside institution approved was way more difficult than it should have been. I tried doing a history course at my local university, but the dean of the history department rejected it because he said it was not hard enough after reviewing its syllabus. That was literally his reason. He told me to take a summer course at ND, completely out of touch with reality that students like me can't afford that. I ended up signing up for a macroeconomics course at my local university - I set the curve in the class . I didn't even study for the final and still scored an A on it.

I walked at graduation but didn't get my degree until August after I finished the summer course. It really set me back because the money and time I spent on this course could have gone toward a post-bac science course to boost my profile for med school. I'm still pissed about it.

Pratt I could stand to learn more but strikes me as slightly less physical tools than Card (arm and legs). But you get the experience, flip side that is also against lower competition.

Looks like good in 2021 vs OU and Ole Miss but did not fare well this year versus KSU. Didn’t play 2021 UC.
