Remember how crazy the QB market was last season?

I would’ve lost a lot of money betting on who would improve their situations. I thought Kedon Slovis, JT Daniels, Spencer Rattler & Dillon Gabriel would be good acquisitions but they all had “meh” seasons. (Rattler ended the season on a very high note with the Clemson & UT wins but he wasn’t impressive prior to that & likely needs more good film to jump to the NFL.)

Then the ones who’ve thrived this year were the ones I would’ve stayed away from: Bo Nix & Michael Penix. The only thing I can surmise from those two is they each took a beating in the SEC & B1G respectively and maybe were able to take advantage of those P12 defenses this season.

The one guy who hit for me was Jayden Daniels at LSU.

I say all that to say this is a crapshoot when you look at Brennan Armstrong, Devin Leary, Tyler Van Dyke & even Hudson Card. They’ve both had flashes of brilliance along w/ underwhelming output.

Funny thing is all these transferees see only blue skies ahead and sometimes its a big mistake. Max Johnson who had a great year at LSU transferred last year to ATM and only started a handful of games and played only so-so.

Hudson Card has similar to more natural talent than Will Howard or Max Duggan.

Who was the last ND QB who possessed at all times dual threat and down field passing on every down? Kizer for sure IMO. Puts so much hidden stress on a D that we just haven’t had.

DJU was benched last night and Klubnik will be the starter going forward.

Transfer has to be pending right??

Yeah, I think it was coming regardless. I do think DJU could still be something but he needs a fresh start. He could put up some big numbers in a true spread offense that allows him to throw slants all day. Oklahoma State?

I think Mississippi St. would be a great spot for DJU. Leach loves to pass and the competition is there in the SEC.

Meh. He isnt worth the risk.
If DJ would be open to running the ball 10 times in the rpo game, he'd be lethal.
With the oline and backs we have, that's an elite running attack.
But too much inconsistency in the pass game.

I'm still Team Card. But if not him, I kind think DJU might be the guy for us. He has a huge ceiling and a similar skill set to Buchner. They can have an open competition and we wouldn't need to reinvent our offense either way. Buchner (as opposed to Pyne) sticking gives us an insurance policy on the grad transfer. So maybe take the big swing on DJU?
