Rising is a interesting name, wonder what is going on with him at Utah
He's been injured all season and they just shut him down for the rest of the year. Hell of a ballplayer but I'd be a little worried about health/rust.

I speculate that Rising didn't want to spend his last year of eligibility on a partial season at less than 100% health.

Funny thing is they didn't shut him down until this week. At this point Rising could play in 4/5 of their remaining games and still come back next year.

I do wonder if he'd look to transfer, or stick at Utah, which would have a good shot next year at winning the new Big 12 and making the playoff. Maybe we should make a run at their OC?

I think we should roll with Minchey, personally. The talent is there, and the schedule is fairly forgiving next year. Texas A&M is struggling, FSU graduates like EVERYBODY, and USC will be losing Williams and maybe their HC. Our legit hardest game may be Louisville and we get them at home in week 5 after playing Miami (OH). At some point, we need to start internally developing QBs (and I have a lot more faith in us doing so with Gino at QB Coach than Rees) or we're going to be hurting in the recruitment arena.
Right there with ya!

Against NC State anyway.
Honestly, it wasn't very good there. We caught them in 4 big plays that went for probably half our yards in the game. We had so many 3 and outs.

You love the big plays, but you'd also like to be able to run your regular offense and get first downs

Firmly believe that "1st downs" is the #1 way to measure an offense's ability. No other metric I'd put above it.

Remember when the beat, including Pete, kept hyping up Sam Hartman's bowl game against Missouri last year? They were basically telegraphing Hartman to ND was a done deal. I wouldn't quite say this situation feels exactly the same, but its close. Pete has to know something.

Wouldn't be disappointed if that's true!!

Would be the dirtiest looking ND QB in history. Possibly on the heels of the most clean cut ever. Sign me up, let's ride.

Give me another 1 year rental. MF knows the potential in this team. Angelli is not a playoff power 5 starter and will hold the team back. Then we have a true QB competition in 2025 with Minchey and Carr. (Will gladly eat crow if Angelli proves me wrong)
Angeli would abusively transfer to Boston College?

If it wasn’t for our self imposed rule against undergrad transfers (get rid of that) I’d get some communication going with Dante Moore.

I think we can do better than Rising, especially coming off a significant knee injury (ACL, MCL, and meniscus). He has an average-to-slightly above average arm at best (IMO). They used him as a runner in 2022 but he's not particularly athletic

Taking a Freshman transfer is relatively easy. Sophomore and Junior transfers are the problem.

Fuck it. Let the ND qb’s ride. Screw these mercenaries
I felt the same way until I looked at various current top QB rankings lists- at least this year, most of the top 10 QBs in college football were transfers. You have to keep your eyes/ears open and try to upgrade your roster if possible

Wasn’t Pete also heavily hinting that Devin Leary was going to be under center in 2024?

Biggest disagreement we’ve had… Hartman had been called the wolf man, with a rib bone necklace, and recently got some weird random tattoos … he USED to be clean cut

Hartman with that mane is an absolute natural for shampoo commercials……L’Oreal should come calling.

That's true, but the distinction, as I see it, is that Rising resembles a journeyman carpenter who rips two packs a day and has been through multiple divorces, while Hartman gives the impression of a third-year apprentice who experiences frequent and overt questioning of his sexuality by his colleagues.

Clean cut isn't the right term for Harman. Maybe sharpest look would have been better.
