Good point. Brey never liked foreign players, you can go all the way to Ivan Kartelo. We should be able to do well in the Catholic European countries that produce BB players like Croatia and Lithuania.
As well as Poland

Who do we think ND should get? I like Sweeney.

I don't follow basketball recruiting, are there any high school prospects uncommitted?

If we could get a coach hired and somehow get the two signees we lost back into the fold, that would be a start.

I agree, it would be nice if ND could get a new coach hired with the current season in play. Get the 2 guys back and keep from anyone with returning eligibility from transferring.

Cormac Ryan has a opportunity to return next season, I think him coming back would be a good move.

Matt Zona getting involved early, Irish up 12 after a 13-0 run against Wake.

Wake opens up the second half going 6/7 from 3 and have opened up a 13 point lead...

Ryan’s play this year has dropped off from last year substantially. No ldea why but you want guys who are getting better on your team not guys who are getting worse.

I was at the game today- the saddest thing wasn't the team on the court, it was the attendance. ND sold tickets for a cheaper price today and there were many empty seats.

ND played great for the first 16 minutes of the first half, the second half was all Wake Forest. I was watching JJ during warm-ups and he made just about every 3 he shot, but ended up with 8 points. WF had 3-4 alley oops and couldn't miss a shot in the 2nd half.

Didn't know where to post, but this happened at a game in South Bend. Anyone have any info?

Fans fighting at this game in South Bend. A real sad situation on senior night for these kids. Matt Painter of Purdue was in attendance scouting. There's always been a rivalry between Riley and Washington, but in this situation a rivalry that went too far.

No idea if this is credible or not. But here it is anyway.

Here’s an Oklahoma article regarding it from not too long ago. According to this article, if hired after April 1 his buyout would be $6 million

It would be insane to pay $6 million for Moser, on top of his salary, when it's pretty clear it's not working out there.

Yeah he's on the struggle bus at Oklahoma. And it's not like he's blowing the doors off as a recruiter either.

I'd be relatively lukewarm about Moser. He's an upgrade over the last 5 years but not sure how he would stack up against 2000-2016 Brey. Probably about even, which I think most ND fans would be happy with.

I'm not sure who ND could realistically get to coach them that is going to check the past-success box PLUS a great recruiter. I don't believe the program is prestigious enough.
Moser would be a good get and an excellent rebound location for his restart

How much does past success matter at this point? The CBB environment is so different than it was even 3 years ago that being successful in the past is not necessarily going to correlate to success in the future.

He was a good coach at a mid-major program in the pre-NIL environment. I don't think anyone should assume that transfers to P5 with NIL, especially given what OU has looked like the last 2 years. I'll grant that it's a small sample size. But paying a premium for him at the moment, when all signs suggest both Moser and OU would like to cut bait, would be bonkers.

I'd be fine with Moser; not at the top of my list, but a sound hire, IMO.

He gets the faith, he has roots in Chicago, and I think his past success speaks for itself. He had OU on the cusp of the tourney last year, this year is a bit puzzling but it's not like turning around a program, even in MBB, is an overnight occurrence.

I would much rather have a proven program builder that did so in an environment that is close to ND. Basketball is obviously significantly different than football. But the challenges of NIL and the transfer portal is worse for ND basketball than football.

Moser would understand this and has insimilar circumstances. For me, that weighs heavily. He would be near top of my list. Not at the top, but a very sound choice IMO

From the Oklahoman article, it sounds like Moser is used to dealing with the problems that come with being a MBB head coach at a football school. He's done a good job of engaging the students to try to get butts in the seats.

Prister did respond to me and said he's getting stonewalled and thinks it's likely the board has expanded, but to not expect any real news until March anyway.

Recruiting to Notre Dame basketball will always look different than Notre Dame football and I think a guy like Moser would get that. ND doesn't need to recruit like UNC, Duke, Kentucky, etc. to beat those teams. They need to recruit like most of the good big ten programs.

Take Purdue as an example. Purdue isn't consistently good because they recruit a top 10 roster. They are consistently good because Painter recruits multi-year guys, recruits to a specific profile in many cases, is a very good coach, and then hits on one of those upside guys every so often. He's recruited one top 50 player in the last 4 cycles. And it wasn't Jaden Ivey. Recruit multi-year guys to a profile that fit what you want to do and coach/develop them up. You can still achieve exceptional results in college ball doing so.
