I’d have loved to have seen that early ‘70s East Chicago Washington team with Junior Bridgeman, Pete Trgovich, et al vs. Indpls. Washington. I think they might have come out on top.
Maybe but Washington is considered the best by most. Washington had George McGinnis and Steve Downing. McGinnis was an All Star in the ABA and NBA. IIRC Downing also played pro though not as long as long.

In the 69 regional championship, Warren Central played Washington. We started a couple of 6’9” guys and had just beaten state ranked Cathedral to win the sectional. We thought we had a shot after getting rolled by 45 early in the season. It was 35-0 before we scored our first points. Lol

That East Chicago team also had Tim Stoddard who played in college (NC St?) and went on to pitch in MLB. Both guards also played on major college teams as well. Quite a team. And the other team in East Chicago was very good as well.

Not really that much of a hoops hotbed any more but someone who still lives up there might have a better view than I.
EC had a lot of talent. Those schools had some serious rivalries.

I found an interesting Scholarship breakdown..had no idea Dom Campbell left...so looks like right now 5 scholarships used with Ryan...8 to give right? So if Shrewsberry can resign the 2 players who had left and brings the 3 Penn State recruits...3 more spots, get at least 1 Big

Campbell hasn’t left technically he’s just put his name in the portal. He’s said he’d wait to meet with the new coach before making a decision prior to Shrews being hired. Also, Parker has already committed to Wake so he’s not gonna bring him back. So not sure if ur counting Burton as one of those 2 but he’s never left the class. Chance at Dunlap to resign but that’d be the only one of the 2 that actually left the class.

Odd move by him. I know we are hurting for numbers, but that may be addition by subtraction if that was really his best choice in the portal.

Yeah he didn’t show much although there were some injuries. Still if you can’t get minutes on a 20 loss team how good are you?
Choice of Howard is pretty telling. We are probably in on some better big men, at least I hope we are

I’d really like us to take a flyer on Zane Doughty from Ben Davis in Indy. That kid was dominant this year and showed well against Flory Bidunga in the state finals. He had signed with Valpo, but asked for his NLI release. I think that kid is going to be an absolute steal for someone.

Penn State ended up hiring Mike Rhoades from VCU. 7 year deal averaging 3.7 million per year. Looks to be a little less compared to what Shrewsberry got from ND.

Shrews lands his first commit. Julian Roper guard from Northwestern. Kind of underwhelming numbers but 6-4 and very athletic. Not a grad transfer, was a soph this year.
