What does that accomplish? They’re still not playing for major bowl games or the CFP if they start at Thanksgiving? And do they really think they’re going to play games in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Michigan in December and January?

El oh fucking el.

- Fulfilling media contracts. All about the Benjamins
- ROI
- That's when the NJ Gov will allow travel into the state
- Kinesiology finals at Michigan end
- all East teams will go into a bubble in Indy and play in Lucas Oil and all West teams do the same in Minneapolis at U.S. Bank. Remote learning.
- all B10 coaches will get to keep their jobs. Harbaugh extended until 2031
- have to follow Notre Dame's lead
- to coordinate B10 championships in FB, BB and hockey

Right, I just shouted to my wife from the office, "we got football in two weeks!". And then I realized, we still have to get through the next two weeks, lol.

Yep, that's part of it. And the stadium experience won't be the same, even for us watching on TV. And my internal clock says we should be in week zero today. And we haven't gotten much out of camp.

I'm more than ready for college football, but there's not as much hype about the actual football this year because of everything else.

Maybe this is the “incredible harm” the B1G lawyer spoke of recently in regards to the transparency of their decisions to cancel or delay the football season. I am not a fan of Thamel and Clay is, well, Clay but it does make one think.

https://sports.yahoo.com/can-the-bi...kevin-warren-wants-to-find-out-180131201.html

https://www.outkick.com/big-ten-sch...and-now-joe-biden-is-blaming-president-trump/

The Thamel article speaks for itself (re: Warren and athlete activism). The Clay Travis article is -- as you said -- Clay being Clay. A lot of conclusions, not a lot of actual substance.

What they're talking about is that the decisions were made for $$ and I'm sure the documents show that. Not player safety, not public health... money. If someone thinks the Big Ten leadership sat around and conspired to cancel the season just so that they could maybe spin it for a couple votes against Trump... that's just not plausible, for so many reasons. It doesn't come close to passing the sniff test on what they were prioritizing, and what has been leaked/reported. I know everyone loves a good conspiracy theory, but come on.

Also, let's make sure we don't get too OT here.

I agree. I am not much on conspiracy theories either. Probably should have posted it in a different thread as well. My apologies.

Six tickets left for the Ga Tech game in Atlanta. Book 'em, Dano.

I would pay money to have my cutout at the stadium. Speaker so I could cheer would be nice. Fill the stands and social distancing.

it's official no "fans" at ND games, got the email this morning.

Students, Faculty, Staff with "few exceptions" such as families and media. 20% capacity max

All I'll say is that they better be ID checking everyone because the biggest scourge on ND football for years has been the faculty selling their tickets to opposing fans. I assume they will be ID checking, and that's why they listed those groups (i.e. because they are being tested for COVID on campus).

If the administration wanted to stop that, they could. There is nothing you could do about season ticket holders scalping, but employee tickets could be conditional. Empty seats would be better than opposing fans in them. And it would still count as a sellout if they are worried about that, since the ticket was accounted for.

If it is that big of a problem hopefully someone in the administration will eventually raise it.

I'm guessing the band will be playing in between snaps when the visitors are on offense? That will be weird without crowd noise.

I don't give a damn that it's just against Duke, I'm excited to see this Defense crush the opposition!

Duke last year was a moderately competent but colorless team, which began turning the ball over and giving up rushing yards late in the season ... and collapsed. They are really hoping for a great season out of a Clemson transfer QB. The offense will probably go or not entirely on his shoulders. The OLine is fairly veteran with four, I think, starters back --- both tackles are, I believe, returning as formerly FRESHMAN starters. The TE is the star.

Defensively they rush the passer. Hainsey will have to be on his game, and hopefully Eich has conquered the hiccups. The rush comes from their ends not from the interior.

Outside experts seem to think that Duke is a 50-50 sort of team. We should win, but Duke is a hard-working middle-of-the-road team so won't just fold up easily. Stick with our guys, everybody and remember what Coach says: Winning is hard and any win is a good thing.

Found out today what I had expected...no ability to attend games. Bummer for me, but I'm ok with it. Just hope we can make it through the season, if ND stays "well" they have an opportunity for a memorable season (besides COVID mania).

Love this quote (taken from Matt Freeman's recap at ISD, can't embed at work)

BK on speed of defense: "There are times you see it on display. We close. We arrive at the point of contact with a different sound."

Defense is gonna be very good this year

NBC showing US Open golf then. In fairness the USF game was just recently added at short notice

ND originally had a game on the 19th before that, would mean it would have moved to a different channel anyways

https://www.tomahawknation.com/flor...-florida-state-seminoles-starting-quarterback

James Blackman has been announced as the starter for Florida State Seminoles football’s season opener against Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Over the last few weeks, Blackman has been praised not just for his progress on the field, but for the leadership he’s displayed and willingness to learn.

“I’ve been really pleased with James and I’m proud of him for his maturity that he’s shown, the work that he puts in,” Norvell said on the ACC Network last weekend. “I think he’s had four different offensive coordinators throughout his time here and that’s really unheard of, but also it presents so many challenges. Basically, every time that happens, you learn new terminology, new expectations.”

“...the way J-Black has been able to read stuff and be able to help us as an offensive line, point out, ‘Ok, look. We need to flip this protection because they’re coming from here. Oh, look. On this run play, they’re going to slant,’” center Andrew Boselli said.

“I’ve been impressed with him. It’s very obvious that he has the best grasp of the offense and he just takes command out there…Just stuff like that, communicating to the offensive line is something we didn’t do last year and the way he has been able to do it this year has been impressive.”
