IMO, there is no way a spring season happens.

1. Not enough recovery time between it and the 2021 season unless summer and fall camps get pushed back.
2. Schools up north don't want to be playing outside in February.
3. Kids that were planning on trying to get drafted next spring won't want to risk injury.
4. Spring practice is the time where you spend most of your time getting the new and younger players more work. That goes away with a spring season.

I agree there are lots of drawbacks but the drawbacks of no season at all seem larger in comparison (and #1 can be worked around by delaying the 2021 season).

"Would be expected" by whom? If he means we expect to play all-ACC because all our other opponents pull out, that's believable. If he means the ACC would expect ND to play an all-ACC schedule, that just doesn't seem believable to me.

My thought was Arkansas, because of a combination of corona hotbed and the high likelihood they would go winless against an all-SEC slate in any case. (also, that would explain why an ND beat writer would know it)

I would be very surprised if it wasn't Vandy. They care about football the least out of every SEC school.

Even in its current state, the state of Arkansas pretty much revolves around Razorback football. The Arkansas AD recently came out and said he's doing everything possible to give the players what they want, and that is to play. With that said it would be weird for me for one conference school to not play if all the rest are. You'd think conferences would make sure all their schools are on the same page.

I was speaking strictly about ND's schedule. Agree playing a conference only is much easier. If something like the IU/Wiscy happens, I see the conference simply cancelling the game and not trying to get it rescheduled.

If the Group of 5 and FCS schools don't get those big paydays from the ND's, Bama, etc., it could have a significant financial impact on those schools athletic programs to the point where they could be dropped by the school. If that happens the FBS schools will have to start filling their schedules with more competitive teams rather than playing the cupcakes, the SEC likes to do.

I doubt if they'd drop football, unless they were already on the brink. But anybody who works for an FCS football program is likely to be furloughed without pay until next year.

And the rest of their sports are looking at a similar fate with no "buy" games.

All that. I couldn't be more against spring football for the Power 5. Lehigh and Delaware don't have anyone getting drafted so they should play in spring, doesn't matter to them.

For all the people who whine about "player safety" and "taking care of these exploited kids", playing two football seasons in a span of 8 months sounds pretty terrible.

This scenario sounds amazing. I assume we’d play Navy here to help them out.

ACC conf champ eligibility seems too good to be true. Gotta see it to believe it.

I posted previously that I couldn't see the ACC allowing ND to play in the CG. Something of an embarrassment for an outsider to come in and make the CG on the first time and have a chance to win it. Having thought it over, the ratings would be great for the ACC and would be financially attractive as well. As we say, "Money talks!".

Curious if this scheduling model requires ND to follow the +1 model or allows them to schedule 2 or 3 out of conference games?

Unsanctioned match?

Aren't they still trying to get the plus 1 done? That way many of the traditional match ups can occur? I am sure the SEC is still all in on those games with the ACC. If so, the Navy game could happen for the Irish. ???

ACC says the OOC game needs to be in the school's home state, meaning Indiana, Purdue, or Ball State.

Also am I reading correctly that all TV revenue will be "shared equally" among the schools? Meaning ND is trading 93% of our NBC money for 7% of the ACC's ESPN money?

Would actually be hilarious at this point if they made another exception for ND and let us play Navy.

It's almost creepy how bad they want us. Might want to consider a restraining order.

That's right - Sampson on twitter called this a "major concession" but it doesn't seem that way to me? It seems like a minor loss of $ or maybe even a slight increase. Swarbrick has said in the past that being in a conference would actually be more financially lucrative than independence.

Clemson, FSU, Lville at home. No Miami or vatech. Road schedule looks manageable. I'll take it.

Has anything been scheduled when and where? Because I would LOVE for Florida state and Clemson to make its way to south bend in November

I’m guessing ND just plays Navy at home and in exchange we play two away games in a row.
The first time I read it I thought it had to be against an Indiana school, but it sounds like it could be against just about anybody if the game is played in Indiana, right?

The UNC game at UNC will be tricky. Mark my words. Mack Brown will have his team fired up.
