I think Keys and Austin will end up doing being a great duo. Just hope Lenzy makes it a trio.

So who is right bout Wilkins. 247 with CB or ISD at WR.....
And disagreement about KAR as well.

Don't know but the Wilkins to CB I found to be a bizarre statement when it was made. Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. They started him at WR because they liked his skillset at the position. Unless that drastically changed, there is going to be a lot of opportunities at WR in the coming 1-2 years. And, it's not like we've had an unexpected rash of injuries or departures at CB.

I have no problem with position changes but I tend to not like them when it doesn't feel like the player is getting a legitimate shot to compete at the position. Moving him from WR to CB after 1 year seems like it'll be two years wasted.

I'm wondering if the KAR disagreement is just based on him being a dual position guy. So he'll train at both WR and RB and there being some miscommunication on that front.

A lot of folks though Wilkins would start at CB when he came in. We have a good numbers at both positions (12 WRs and 8 CBs with him at WR), and both are top heavy with youth. The difference is we'll lose 3 CBs next year that are likely heavy in the rotation. We only lose two WRs, but should have a lot of experienced youth. I'd think long term the team is better off with him at CB unless he's an absolute stud at WR. And I just don't see him getting a lot of reps behind Finke and Keys.

It will be interesting. And I guess if you're going to make a switch, better to waste the early years.

On KAR, I'd bet our new RB coach (who was a convert himself), is happy to use him both ways.

My interest in Keys for Spring practice has officially reached an all time high.

There was also some very encouraging words on C’Bo. I’ve always had higher expectations for him than most. Hopefully he has a big spring.

I went to bat for him yesterday before seeing this clip.

I am now all-in on the "Jalen Elliot for Captain" hype train.

Mike Frank had some interesting thoughts today. I won't post all of them but a couple of note, because they differ from what II has been saying. KAR will start at WR, not RB. And they like Wilkins at WR.

Literally the exact opposite from what II said in their last update

Position changes from the ISD, 247 guys are purely speculative IMO until they see them actually playing there.

Per II Podcast,

“Darnell Ewell, we’re pretty sure he’s moving back to defensive tackle”

Wasn't he supposed to move to the o-line? I'd like to see him get some PT in 2019.

The way that d-line is being recruited and the fact that he still hasn't made any noise yet, I'm not sure he'll ever see meaningful snaps.

He's not too far from being on my exclusive "biggest busts" list.

Given the move to OL and now back to DL, I'm guessing it's unlikely that he sees the field in 2019

There are a lot of snaps up for grabs at the 1 tech. No Bonner, no MDT, and Franklin is coming off a significant injury.

After Hinish it's wide open.

While true, if he does indeed move back I'm not sure the expectation should be that he's going to crack the active rotation. I think it's more that they need him as a practice body so the 2 deep doesn't end up taking too many reps.

Surely they could get Ewell to the point where they can use him in the 4th quarter against teams like the Lobos, Bowling Green & Michigan?

So with Foskey signing today, I think our 2019 scholarship total is currently at 87. That's including J.D. Bertrand and Harrison Leonard both being PWOs and Marist Liufua grey shirting to 2020.

Anyone care to guess (or have the inside scoop) who the two players will be to leave or get the boot prior to fall camp?

I have no idea, but I think you'll see more than 2.
Surprised some folks aren't already in the portal TBH.
ND is already on the hook for tuition for the rest of the semester even if they do enter the portal.

I think it's poor form to speculate on this. If there is actual information then so be it but usually it just devolves into talking poorly about ND student athletes.

I would think most guys would want to have the benefit of the spring workouts and thus would wait until after the spring game before putting their name in the portal.

Maybe. I have an idea about a few guys who might be transferring. If true, they're good guys, and I'm sure BK is supportive of them. Meaning they'll still practice, and BK is probably reaching out to other teams for them. And let's face it, BK is gong to help facilitate most transfers of individuals passed over without a lot of hope for future PT.

I know kids have to be in the portal for new coaches to freely contact them. I'm not sure however what the rules are if a coach (current team) wants to help in the placement.

We don't do the baseless speculation game on transfers. It's been a rule on this site for as long as I can remember. Either you have a source you're willing to share about someone transferring, or don't post about it. I will be cleaning up this thread later today.

We've left a transfer rumor up in Donate Vaugh's thread for a month now so I guess it's ok to speculate it's him.

I thought we got to the bottom of that though? He isn’t up for transfer at the moment.

Or they don't want to leave and are doing one more spring practice to climb the depth chart. If they don't they'll announce and enter the portal in May.

Only Dew-Treadway and Wimbush left in time to participate in spring practice at their new schools.

Have there been any predictions in past years from the talking heads coming out of spring practice (eg, such and such is going to be great) that have been really on the money?

For example, they always seem to say Nick Coleman is unbelievable. He has improved a lot since that bad game against Texas a few years ago (the whole secondary was doing a three stooges impression that game) but not sure their predictions about him have been accurate.
They predicted big things from Gilman but you didnt have to be a rocket surgeon there.
Any predictions in the past that stand out as impressive?

You have to meet certain conditions (example graduation) to leave in time to participate in spring practice. I'm sure what you suggest could be relevant to some, but i think we have under class guys that will end up either sitting out a year, where spring participation really doesn't matter.
