This Mater Dei team is the best team I've every seen. Better than the Rosen SBJ teams, Better than the Fertitta/Mack Gorman teams.
They beat Centennial 72-21.
Bryce Young is as good as Spencer Rattler. He was 31-37 for 528 yds & 7 TD's. His deliver is SO fast. It looks like a second baseman turning a double play. I've been skeptical of his viability at the college level but squash that. He's gonna be a serious problem at SC.
He has a ton of talent at WR to work with too.
ND '21 offer Cristian Dixon had a couple of TD's and 100% is a good offer. He's smoother than explosive but he's for real and hopefully ND leads as advertised.
'21 Kyron Hudson-Ware had 3 TD's and is built like a house. Might be a better LB prospect. If not, he's a future Anquan Boldin.
'22 CJ Williams needs to be offered immediately. He didn't have any TD's but he had numerous catches and probably has the highest ceiling. He's explosive and at 6-2, he'd be the guy you'd compare to Jordan Johnson.
The most interesting WR is Kody Epps. He named ND as an interest and wanted to visit but then the trail went cold with ND getting other WR commits. He was the best WR on the field last night. He runs great routes and was the only person to beat Jaydin Young last night (once). He will end probably up at a second tier PAC school or Boise and have a good career. He's good enough to be on any roster. I'd say think TJ Jones style or game.
Mater Dei has a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball too. Domani Jackson is a lock 5 star and deserves the full court press by every school in the country. ND hasn't offered. '21 CB Jaylin Davies is a kid who I liked for ND when he was UR now he's a 4.5* with offers from everywhere, ND hasn't moved. Lastly, Raesjon Davis is an animal.
One D guy ND could make an early statement with is '22 OLB/Shark prospect David Bailey. He's gonna be All World and LSU is his only offer right now.
On the PWO front: There are two Joe Schmidt types on the team. '20 S/LB Nate White is a Capt / 3 yr starter and committed to Penn and Dean Neeley is a Capt LB who has camped/visited at ND.
On Centennial's side:
I'm off Jaydin Young for ND. He's a great HS football player and he looked good vs. Mater Dei on both sides of the ball but he's 5-10 175ish and needs to play safety. Mater Dei threw at him one time and Kody Epps beat him for a TD. They game planned away from him the rest of the game. He lines up at CB, Nickel, FS and Mater Dei threw away from him 36/37 times. Respect. Besides being undersized, he caught a quick post and had a 10 yard lead on Domani Jackson at the 50 and Jackson caught him at the 10. He doesn't have the speed I want. Still, he's another guy like Epps that ends up having a great career in the bottom half of the PAC or the MWC.
He's the younger brother of former 4 yr Nebraska starting LB Dedrick Young who went on the the NFL.
