Also, is Tremble now trending away from ND? I've seen a lot of CB's rolling in for Michigan after his visit, including SW.

Word from Loy and Kevin are if ND lands Griffith and Gordon they will pass on Bracy and Crim and be done with recruiting in the secondary. Also coaching staff is putting the full court press on Payton Wilson.

I don't know if I agree with that unless Watkins is coming back for sure

Yep, room is too tight to take a luxury position. That said, if ND strikes out elsewhere ya never know.

Do you buy that? They spent considerable time trying to get this guy on campus and on board. Now all of a sudden they're too tight when they only have 1 corner on board and still haven't got one of their 2 OL?

Maybe he's just interested in Michigan more?

I'm not going to lose sleep over us getting him or not, but I think the staff wanted him unless we have a reason to believe otherwise.

Ok - I'm alright with missing on Tremble as well. Would like it to go to a spot of greater need/higher overall talent.

Me either. I'm just as worried about Vaughn. No possible way I could say no to Bracy at CB if everyone is 100% guaranteed coming back.

Ah yes, the inevitable, "there is no room" time of the year... always among the most fun we have every year.

As to Tremble Chip Long will be visiting him this week at his school. Have a hard time believing he goes to Michigan given that his parents have never seen the school (they didn't go on the visit with him) and they are known to be 100% ND.

And again, why are we sending a coach there if we're full.

If he chooses Michigan, it's because he chose Michigan not because a ND staff stumbling at the finish line is all of a sudden having people beat down the door to come here after our 1-2 finish down the stretch.

Kelly, Polian and Lyght going in home with Gordon tonight I think. Getting him and Griffith would be huge.

Who said anything about being full as it pertains to Tremble? He's a guy they really want.

You shared Wiltfong's thoughts.

Wiltfong listed what ND was looking for and if they got them they would actually be a player over the limit. In looking at the list Tremble figured to be the odd man out.

Something has to give if they all want to come.

LOL, I guess I did. They sure are chasing after a lot of prospects for not enough spots.

And it's not blindly chasing like ASB or Cota. Nobody should be surprised if any of these guys ink.

NPF, Gordon, Griffith and Wilson and call it a class for me.

I know you're trying not to be greedy right now but you're leaving two on the table so give me Bracy and Jones. It's hard to leave Keys off the list but McKinley, Young & Armstrong will all be ready to contribute with everyone back plus Wilkins and Bracy are flip candidates from D --> O.

Wouldn't mind Bracy at all. Kind of ambivalent about Jones and Tremble. Feel we'll hit a home run in 2019 OT class. Still interested in Keys too. But those first four I mentioned are big fish that I want to catch.

You have to replenish OLinemen or you're REALLY playing with fire. Those who say two more are right --- as to what positions we want anyway.

I wonder how many kids are beating down the door to go to Michigan who finished the season 0-2 or 3-3 if you stretch it out over 6 or 4-4 if you want to stretch it out over the final 8.

I can't say I'm crazy about Jones from tape but I'm crazy about getting 4 lineman to replace the 5 lineman they are losing this season. Got to have them numbers for practice. ND has very thin #'s at PWO OL.

Something always gives. There is always room. Someone gets hurt/transfers/gets suspended. TIAR.

While I have no doubt ND will eventually have enough transfers to need a 25 man class, I can't guarantee they'll transfer at the break. They may take one more swing in the spring and then decide to transfer after the semester wraps up.

Loosing 5 OL? I know of McGlinchy, Nelson, Bivin and i doubt Bryne gets asked back, that's 4. Is Bars leaving with a 5th year available? Mustipher stated he's coming back.

Not a fan of Luke Jones. My preference would be to kill it in 2019 but that puts a lot of pressure on that class. God forbid a coaching change....... or something else were to happen and the 2019 OL class doesn't end up how everyone thinks; that would be ugly.

PWO Sam Bush. Sam was a pretty big deal in Orange County at Mater Dei and Newport Harbor. He passed up a number of scholarships to attend ND.

*** I just looked up his 247 profile and they retroactively downgraded him to a 2 star - 70 rating. He was at one time a high 3 star w/ an 87 rating.

I think he was considered a potential Power 5-type player as an underclassman, but didn't really develop physically and was downgraded by 247 during his senior year. He was headed to Princeton before he got the PWO offer.

Big Tuesday for Notre Dame on the recruiting trail

Tom Loy

Monday was a huge day for the Fighting Irish coaching staff on the recruiting trail, but an argument can be made that Tuesday is even more important.

Irish Illustrated and 247Sports bring you a look at where the Notre Dame coaches are headed today.

Anaheim (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, arguably the nation’s top player at his position, says head coach Brian Kelly, special teams coordinator Brian Polian and wide receivers coach DelVaughn Alexander will be by for an in-home visit. This is a huge visit for the staff, as St. Brown is a much-needed playmaker and a highly-coveted prospect. The U.S. Army All-American is a rare talent at the wide receiver position and one that could push for starting reps as soon as he steps foot on campus, regardless of where he heads to school. Will it be Notre Dame, USC, Stanford, UCLA or Michigan? We’ll know in January, as he is expected to announce his commitment at the Army Bowl in San Antonio.

Anaheim (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu, arguably the top linebacker in the country, is another top target for the Fighting Irish. Per his father, Turnbull Tuliaupupu, Kelly and Polian will be by for an in-home visit on Tuesday. Perception is that USC remains the favorite at this point, but Notre Dame is very much a legitimate player in this race. He was blown away during his trip to South Bend this fall for an official visit and the Irish continue to make him a priority. Kelly and Polian are hoping to leave a big impression on the U.S. Army All-American.

While in California, Kelly, Polian and linebackers coach Clark Lea will be in Temecula, Calif., to see Great Oak four-star linebacker Jack Lamb. The 6-4, 220-pounder committed to the Fighting Irish back on July 27 and remains firm in that pledge. An Under Armour All-American, Lamb chose Notre Dame over offers from Duke, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, UCLA and many others.

According to Irish Illustrated’s Kevin Sinclair, offensive line coach Harry Hiestand will be in Brentwood, Tenn., checking in on Notre Dame offensive tackle commit Cole Mabry. The 6-6, 275-pounder committed to the Fighting Irish back on Feb. 14 over offers from Cincinnati, Colorado State, Indiana, Memphis and others.

Pompano Beach (Fla.) North Broward Prep four-star wide receiver Kevin Austin, one of the top offensive playmakers nationally, says running backs coach Autry Denson will be by for an in-home visit on Tuesday. The Top100 recruit chose the Fighting Irish back on Aug. 11 over offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and many other top programs across the country.

Offensive coordinator Chip Long will be in the Pittsburgh area checking in on longtime Notre Dame quarterback commit Phil Jurkovec. The Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland four-star standout is a U.S. Army All-American and arguably the top dual-threat quarterback nationally. He committed to Notre Dame back on May 16, 2016 over offers from Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and many others across the country.

Defensive coordinator Mike Elko will make his way to Farmington, Mich., to see Harrison three-star linebacker commit Ovie Oghoufo. The long, rangy defender chose Notre Dame back on July 22, 2016 over offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Kentucky and others.

Player rankings must have been updated.

Kevin Austin is now above Allen as ND's top-rated commit.
