We do, next season. No need to play them again this season. Why would our players want to have to beat a team again

Our players wouldn't "have to"...they would "get to" pound their ass twice. What could be more fun than that?

Do you guys actually think Michigan is a better team than ND? I don't. ND is getting no respect across the country and it has more to do with 2012 than what you see on the field this year. We have a defense and QB that can keep us in any game outside maybe Bama imo. Those lines on ND vs mich,LSU, oklahoma, etc are all dogshit and frankly disrespectful.

Wouldn't it be great in rematch situations if the team that won the first game started with the amount they beat other team by in the regular season game?

Sounds fair and I think Bobby Knight suggested it when they started the conf tourney which he hated... so of course it's a fantabulous idea.

I'm down with anything from Bobby's brain.

guessing it has a lot to do with our performance against several shitty teams. but yes, 12 is hard to live down.

The shit of it is, every team in the top 10 outside Bama has had clunker games. OU went to OT vs army. Clemson- Syracuse. Michigan (gasp) northwestern. The list goes on. We are getting penalized for 2012 and not blowing out bad teams. None of the games this year were in serious doubt except pitt, that includes Michigan.
Style points dont beat great teams.

So tired of the scUM bullshit. They lost to ND and the game was not nearly as close as the final score. I don't care if it was the first game of the year. They had all summer to prepare and they were never in this game. They have not beaten anybody that is relevant. They struggled against Northwestern and probably should have lost that game. Northwestern is much better now than they were when scUM played them and we did better. Everyone talks about how scUM has improved but how about how well ND is playing now with Book and Dex? No reason LSU should have been ranked above ND and not sure what some of you have been smoking but I would take ND 8 out of ten times against scUM.

Oklahoma, LSU, Michigan State, etc. have all gotten their brains beaten in by teams on the national playoff/championship stage but for some reason it hasn't stuck to them in the same way. Pretty annoying.

Better yet, since OSU took a 31-0 probing at the fingers of Clemson... they've had the highest recruiting APR in the country.

we have 3 very ugly wins over teams not even close to sniffing the top 25.
Syracuse is a good team, so I'd exclude Clemson from the argument. OU's performance was bad, but Army is 7-2 (unlike sub .500 BSU/Vandy). I love that Pitt is playing better now and just went above .500. Would be awesome if they could come back and take the Coastal. Blow outs and style points shouldn't matter as much as they do, but... they do.

Comes with being ND. Very annoying, but it was a spectacle, we were undefeated, and it was a major thrashing. And people love to hate on ND>

OSU has had a handful of major wins on the national stage recently...we've got just about nothing. Last year's win over LSU was our best bowl win in my lifetime.

Seriously, I’m not impressed with wins over Wisconsin and Penn State. Pena State has nothing on there team besides Trace McSorely. They almost lost to Indiana for goodness sake and we’re somehow ranked inside the top 15. Michigan comes along and beats them and now there the best team in the country. Give me a break.

So a lot of you think we'd lose to scUM if we played them again? Why, because they haven't lost since? As already mentioned, their schedule hasn't been that hard. NW was on a roll and many predicted a NW upset. We know how that turned out. Just because you have a win streak going doesn't mean you're going to win. Along with have Dex and Book now, you wouldn't see BK or the team take their foot off the gas pedal. I would still take the Irish in a close (7pt or less) rematch.

BTW............The last Irish drive against NW should tell you all you need to know about this team.

Dream scenario:
1) Bama goes undefeated
2) ND goes undefeated
3) Michigan wins their remaining games
4) Clemson drops one but still finishes at #4
5) Oklahoma wins remaining games and Sooner fans whines fill the Red River with tears until they lose by 3+ TDs to UCF in the Fiesta bowl
6) Despite winning their remaining games Wash St somehow falls out of the top 25 leaving no remaining ranked Pac 12 teams.
7) In the first CFP game Clemson wins a squeaker against Bama in which their entire defensive line and their QB get hurt.
8) Meanwhile Michigan is proclaiming their revenge tour saying (in a whiny bit*h voice), "We want Notre Dame." Notre Dame then bit*h slaps them as requested in the other half of the bracket. In the process beating them back into the deep dark hole they've been living in since they fired Lloyd Carr, filled with shame, regret, and 107K booing fans outfitted in pull-over Wolverine Starter jackets.

Then we win the championship of course.

What makes LSU any better than what we played in January? Our D is better, they would score 14 max points. Our O is better suited to beat them with an actual passing game - no way we score less than 21. Even if we spot them 7 ST points and hit the min/max stated - we beat them with a better FG unit in OT. Michigan is in a similar boat.

WTF are people smoking that makes them think our offense is some fragile thing? Our achilles is our special teams and overly conservative coaching tendencies - not our offense and defense.

I am curious for this Clemson game - BC has a good defense and will be interesting to see if Clemson can score at will.

Reminder: LSU lost to a mediocre Florida team, and didn't look good in the game either. The high ranking is mainly due to beating Georgia by a lot...but Georgia doesn't look like the Dawgs from last year. Them being 3rd last week was ridiculous. Heck I wouldn't have even put them in my top 4.

Kidding, right?

Yeah, it was intentionally ridiculous.

I think the craziest they get this time is:

1. Bama
2. Clemson
3. scUM
4. ND
5. UGA

That's if they want to stir the pot.

If they go standard for week 2, just put ND at 3 and scUM at 4.

I know the game - pump up SEC circle jerk. My question - are they honestly better than the team we played in January? I think not. Contrast ND who is currently better in every facet except OL play. Same with Michigan - our improvements since we dominated their ass in game one. UGA is a much lesser team than last year - no doubt there. Are we better than we were when we played them? I think so.

Maybe I'm a complete homer but I see a pretty complete team with plenty of reason to expect improvement in our weakest links b/w now and January 1.

My prediction for tonight is:

1) Bama
2) Clemson
3) ND
4) Michigan

Prediction for the season: All 4 teams win out. Michigan will beat Rutgers like a drum, will beat OSU, and will squeak out a win against NW in the B1G championship. Despite the head to head loss, and because Michigan gets the eXtRa DaTa PoInT, they jump ND in the final rankings, leaving ND to play Bama. We get sacrificed to the Blood God but keep it respectable for what Bama is this year (14 point loss after we score a late garbage touchdown). Michigan beats Clemson in a sloppy game, there is much gnashing of teeth from Notre Dame fans wishing that we had the opportunity to play a college football team in the playoffs instead of an NFL team. Michigan gets exposed in the championship and gets wholloped by Bama (35ish points).

2 Clemson
3 Notre Dame
4 Michigan
5 Georgia
6 Oklahoma
7 West Virginia
8 Ohio State
9 Washington State
10 UCF

I think scUM would have jumped us had the ND/NW game been any closer.

You know, looking at that ranking it's dawned on me. Obviously we've talked about the human element with this committee, and how they aren't consistent. We've talked about the potential of them screwing a team by leaving it out. But here is something that I just realized...

This committee decides what teams play each other (duh)! Therefore, they could, theoretically screw a team over/create playoff matchups to manipulate who they want to play in the NC.

The Michigan talk will die as soon as they get waxed by OSU. Doesn't matter how good of a team they put on the field, Urban has Harbaugh's number.

Even better... I hope MI wins at OSU and wins out.

&

UGA beats Bama in ATL so that the CFP is:

1. Clemson
2. ND
3. UGA
4. Bama

Their message board / Twitter pain would fully stock my screen until next Halloween.

And THEN Michigan loses to OU in the Whatever Bowl for added pleasure.
