Thanks guys.

I think Herbie is so used to being the only one on set with a brain, as Desmond and Corso aren't very intelligent.

Pollock and Jesse Palmer are actually intelligence and he doesnt like being challenged.

And with Pollack being the heir apparent to Corso for Game Day, I’m sure Herbstreit does not like that Pollack actually has knowledge and does not just go along with him.

I'm glad someone else has noticed this with Herbie.....

Herbie as been tremendously more nonchalant since Pollack has been more involved in the activities.....

I shouldn’t have to state the obvious: We all want ND to beat SC...handily.

That being said, I would love if scUM finished 11-1 B1G Champs but then UGA beats Bama in the SEC Championship game & the Tide still gets in over scUM.

This would force the hand of the P5 & the CFP as an entity. You know Larry Scott & Bob Bowlsby would side w/ Jim Delaney & then the SEC would be spending the entire post-season trying to defend the “eye test” trump card once again. For any fans or conferences that want tweaks to the CFP or full on change...this is what needs to happen.

That chaos alone would bring out the true colors from the P5 powers that be &, more importantly; the media (specifically ESPN) to the point that they’d have to finally reveal their bias vs the passive-aggressive way they’ve done it up til now.

Something we haven't discussed yet is Syracuse dropping to 8 spots to #20.

To me that's an unprecedented drop for this committee and a drop that is setting ND up to be moved to #4 should Syracuse lose to BC this weekend.

In week 12, Miss St dropped 5 spots (16-21) for losing 29-0 to Alabama and Kentucky dropped 6 spots (11-17) for losing 24-7 to Tennessee! There is nothing consistent about dropping Syracuse (playing with a backup QB) 8 spots for losing to #3 ND. Nothing. Kentucky was penalized less for losing to an unranked, POS team.

Look at the rankings right now and who ND has beaten in the top 25. The most likely scenario moving forward is:
- Syracuse loses to BC
- Northwestern loses to OSU/Michigan in the B1GOT CC
- Pitt loses to Clemson in the ACC CC
- ND is left with 1 win over a top 25 opponent while Michigan would be left with wins over a ranked OSU team and #12 PSU

Agreed, the Syracuse drop was evident of a SEC bias. This concerns me too. But what I come back to is this: If we win AT USC, in a true rivalry game, and especially if we do it in convincing fashion, there is no way the committee can justify dropping us to #4. Finishing strong to end the season just cannot be penalized by moving us down. Even without a 13th game, conference championship, IMO.

Wil Dungey be back this week? If he is, Syracuse should be able to handle BC and they'll remain a solid ranked-opponent win for us. Probably ranked about where Ohio State will be if Michigan beats OSU, actually. So call those a wash. Same with Northwestern, who we'll have both beaten (Michigan twice, but whatever).
So the argument for Michigan jumping us would be what? That Michigan's win over Penn State is more important than our win over... Michigan?

This is all nonsense. I get these guys need something to talk about on their television show. But if we take care of business we have nothing to worry about.

If a 12-1 Michigan gets rated ahead of 12-0 Notre Dame,

Thank God someone said it because I've been so confused.

Circa, your gifs don't even make sense!

I've been throwing this around In my head for a few minutes. I think I understand. You accused me of trolling when I first entered the board as 1notredamefan being my handle.
I only say that because I know we ND fans are only good Christians with well thought out responses and would never do things to be narcissistic.
I've been bullied by you and others on this site and many other Irish boards. Seems, all your comment tells me is, your still light in the britches after giving help for Lawyer school and all.

15. Kentucky (7-3)
Wash (7-3)
Utah (7-3)
Miss St (6-4)
NW (7-4)
20. Syracuse (7-3)

Big 10 teams and Texas did not play FCS teams.

Would you rerank any?

Penn State for sure. Penn State has beaten absolutely no one to date. The only legitimately good team they played throttled them. They lost at home to a bad Michigan State team. Also needed OT to edge out Appalachian State and looked terrible against Rutgers who is an FCS team in all but name.

Clearly reranking these teams (eliminating the FCS games) impacts SOS of those above them.

I'd put Miss St at 20, Penn State at 19 (for your reasons), Utah at 18.

NW and Syracuse I'd put higher into the 11-15 area. NW losses were early and bad, but have won six of last seven playing the number 3 and 4 teams in the country tough and is going to the B10 championship. The Auburn close loss for Washington does not look as good for the Huskies.

Head-to-head - Kentucky beat Florida, Washington dominated Utah, W. Va beat Texas by 1 but lost big time to Baylor (so I'd put Texas ahead of them).

Washington, who has won some close games and lost to Cal, at 17. West Virginia at 16 because of a bad loss. Texas at 15.

That would leave Kentucky, Florida, NW and Syracuse from 11-14. ND's SOS just went up with three wins over top 15 teams, including #4 Michigan. Clemson has one - Syracuse - which was close. Alabama has dominant wins over LSU and my number 20 A&M.

You guys think its a given that they beat Northwestern? I don't necessarily think so.

No, I don't either. But they have looked really really good today. If they're locked in like this they should beat Northwestern easily.

I'm not going to lie. I think I might actually cheer for Northwestern that day. I'll put aside Fitzy for just that afternoon.

Yeah, but its the same team crushed by PU and took to the end by Nebraska and was it Maryland?

Both, I think, right?
I'm not saying OSU should get in. But if they take care of Northwestern, a lot of people will say that, I suspect. And, honestly, if it's them or Oklahoma...

If Ala loses today and wins the SEC title game or wins today and loses the SEC title game and Clemson wins out Does that put Ala at #2? So an ND victory tonight would have them playing the tide in the semifinal?

I believe they'd fall to 3 or 4. They couldn't have them higher than Clemson or Notre Dame.

IMO....
If Bama loses today, they should go to 4 (Clem, ND, UGA, Bama) since UGA handily beat Auburn. But I said "should"

Assuming Clemson/ND win out, Bama winning today is great. I don’t see any scenario where we would have to play them in the semifinal. If UGA beats them, IMO Bama will be #4 if not out of the playoffs, and I see no way that we finish worse than 3rd.
