Shanahan in SF loves Duke Johnson, seems like a good fit

We will move up in the draft or try to package something for a top receiver is my gut reaction here... not sure where SF sits but I'd expect that to be the goal with Duke. He's a very versatile player who just needs more snaps imo...I think that opinion is shared by many, or at least enough, NFL experts.

Hunt and Chubb is quite the one-two punch.

Browns are gonna be pretty good if they add another WR, aren't they?

Best the team has looked/felt since they came back into the league. The last time I honestly had this kind of vibe was leading into the season they moved... and they were the AFC favorites for the Super Bowl that preseason.

Post June 1 cut on Johnson would save the Browns $1.5 million. Trade before the draft would net?

I think Duke just moves primarily into the slot. We're so weak at WR.

Yeah I thought about this too... my assumption is they make a move or two tho, including WR. Really excited/curious to see what they do with the DT options.

Wasn't sure where to place this...

Cities That Should Have an NFL Team

Would it really be feasible to put a team overseas? They make it sound like five hrs isn't that big of a deal b/t London and EST, but it would be for the team in London who is traveling eight times overseas. Not to mention the eight hour difference for west coast teams and London.

Plus, what would you do with the Super Bowl? You're going to take one of the biggest American "holidays" of the year and move it out of the country in Europe? Or would you just never give those franchises a chance to host the game? Neither scenario seems fair to the fans or the potential overseas teams. Just one man's opinion.

I think St. Louis is too good of a fan base to not have a team, I hope an NFL franchise gets back there.

Birmingham and Omaha are also intriguing to me; two states that are football mad but don't have a hometown team.

Listed El Paso... nice... just from my limited time visiting, and now very limited time living here it does strike me as odd that they only have the AAA baseball team... USL team coming soon though.

Most of these cities listed in the U.S. don't have big enough populations to support a team. Birmingham has about 200K, Omaha about 400K. San Antonio would be able to support a team with its population. I wouldn't be surprised if San Antonio never got a franchise while Jerry Jones still owns the Cowboys. He still has a hard on for Houston getting a team.

The NFL tried the NFL Europe thing a while back and it failed. The logistics alone would be a nightmare. You'd have to have multiple teams based in Europe so teams going to Europe could fly over and play 2 or three games before coming back. Then they'd need a bye to reaccumulate once they returned.

Population of Green Bay, WI is only 105k, and they sell out a 81.5k capacity stadium every game. They are a different breed of fan, sure, I've witnessed it myself, and a lot of those seats to Lambeau are sold on third market to tourists/visitors; not sure how many people are venturing to Omaha or Birmingham, whereas Lambeau is more historically prominent for football fans.

But I think Omaha and Birmingham might be mad enough about football to make it possible.

But I do agree with your point overall that there might be more viable options here, such as STL or another city in TX. San Antonio would be cool.

Not to mention, a European team earning a home playoff game would be a crazy disadvantage for the traveling team.

They spend part of their prep week dealing with jet lag...

Then, even if they win, they don't get an off-week to re-acclimate when they fly home to play another playoff team that DIDN'T have to worry about international travel.

You can make a rule that any European team forfeits all home playoff games, that way they fly to the US and stay for the duration of their playoff run (thus limiting the effect of travel), but that creates different advantages/disadvantages for other teams based on seeding.

People talk about city population and such for not supporting teams. I really don't think it's that big of a deal as people say. The real issue is ticket pricing, already existing fandoms, concession pricing, parking, etc. If you put a franchise in Omaha, and set ticket prices at a reasonable level, they will have people go to the games. The other issue, to me, is do we NEED more NFL teams? 32 is already an awful lot.

average median income is another factor... some of these cities flat out have more money than others...

So as Legacy pointed out in the other thread, Flacco to the Broncos. The Ravens are really going all-in on Lamar, not sure that works out for them.

I think they were going to roll with Lamar with or without Flacco on the roster. Flacco's prime is way behind him and their offense was trash when he was in there. I have my doubts when it comes to Lamar as a passer and who knows if he'll hold up if he keeps taking hits. But I'd take Lamar Jackson over a 34 y/o QB that runs like a sloth.

All the other kids are getting Mercedes. John Elway goes out and gets a Mazda when he already has a Mazda.

Flacco's career numbers vs Keenum's are just about identical. Break them out over the last three years, same. Last five years, also same.

Interesting move.

Unbelievable, why would Elway give away draft capital for the same QB, just older?

Elway can't get out of his own way with his QB issues

Anyone want to trade for AB?

My Pack are have the 2nd best betting odds apparently to land him.

At 31 yrs old by the time the 2019 season kicks off, and $20M+ a year for at a 3 year commitment, I would be shocked if Pitt got anything above a 2nd rounder.

Doubt this works out for the Broncos. When Elway rolled the dice on an injured Manning, at least he knew Manning had an extraordinary FB IQ. Flacco has had maybe only one season above average (QB Rating). Should have stood pat and taken someone in the draft. Baltimore is happy to get rid of one of the worst contracts even if they have to eat dead money this year.
