It should go to 8 but the P5 champs shouldn't automatically get in. That's a recipe for everyone to stop scheduling any real OOC games.

I believe it would have the opposite effect. Teams now schedule cupcake OOC games because they fear the OOC losses. Auto bids for P5 champs would remove any fear of OOC losses.

...and if SC and Wisconsin are here in Scottsdale for the Fiesta Bowl I'm going to Madagascar because that is the closest land mass to the opposite side of the earth from here.

Wiscy fans aren't bad on Saturday... it's just on Sunday's they change into green and gold and become total jags.

Nah, the Sconny fans I know are pretty bad on Saturdays too.

LSU rematch? F*ck not that happy about that.

Then what's the point of OOC games at all?

It's a balance. Oklahoma gets big points for having beaten Ohio State. Clemson for beating Auburn. Georgia for having beaten us. Alabama would have for FSU if FSU hadn't wound up sucking. Ohio State, OTOH, only had wins in their conference. Likewise USC.

I think the trick to out-of-conference scheduling in the playoff era is to play one elite team (make the rest cupcakes), and win the damn game.

Lsu will put 10 in the box to stop the run and make Wimbush throw it. Their one cover guy should be able to shut down our 3wrs and 1 te

Right now, to a bunch of teams, it's simply to pad the W column and provide tune up games. If OOC losses don't matter to a conf champ, we'd see a lot more big match ups. Teams vying for the 3 at large spots would also have incentive to have big OOC wins to help with the resume.

Oh cool so our worst possible matchup we could've gotten... we get a team with a highly rated defense that stops the run well. How the hell does Notre Dame never get a good bowl matchup EVER... 2015 could've gotten Iowa instead get a LOADED Ohio State team.

This year we could've gotten a soft Big 12 team like Oklahoma State and instead we get the absolute worst matchup we could possibly get against a southern team in the south that will travel and plays strong defense. I am so ready for 2017 to be over.

Tbh I wouldn't really feel any more confident with our secondary against OKST.

They might score 100.

But the Irish would score somewhere between 98-102. That's how the Big 12 works.

Yeah but they can't stop anyone. S&P puts their defense 70th in the country. IMO, the entire Big 12 is a joke outside of Oklahoma... they prove it most every bowl season. Soft teams, can't play defense. So when you give teams a month to prepare for their passing attacks they can't score and get blown out.

Oklahoma State's last four games excluding lolKansas... 62 to Oklahoma, 42 to Iowa State, and 45 to Kansas State.

LSU is going to look at our dysfunctional passing attack, laugh, and then wreck us as we try to run with futility into a stacked box of NFL caliber front 7 players. We're going to be lucky to get to 21 against them.

It will front 8 until Wimbush starts connecting.

Do we trust Elko to keep LSU from scoring much?

Yes. Elko will have the defense ready to play. Etling stinks too.

No, he doesn't. He's #12 in QBR. He'll arguably be the second best QB we've played all year. That's what makes LSU much scarier than normal... Matt Canada running a pretty darn efficient passing offense. Outside of Mississippi State and Alabama losses he has put up really strong performances.

They don't ask him to throw much, but when he does he's efficient -- 60% passer with 9.2 YPA and a 7:1 TD-to-INT ratio.

Well, we’ve ragged on Alabama for not playing a tough schedule. We should sack up and win this one to prove without a doubt that they really did play a weak schedule.

We got awarded the best, most prestigious, highest payout, non-New Years Six bowl in America. I think we can be happy with that. If you want to beat the best. Got to play the best. Should be a great game against LSU!

The only way ND beats LSU is if Wimbush can complete 60%+ of his passes. If Wimbush can’t pass well enough to force lsu into a balanced defence they will beat ND worse than Miami did.

LSU is strong enough to stay in their base front seven. The Irish have failed in their first two attempts against similar defenses. Will be interesting to see if the Irish OC can change enough of the offense to get the Tigers off balance. Otherwise I don't see BW being able to beat the Tiger secondary consistently enough to move the chains.

Agree, this could be a nightmare match-up

Well, I just hope that I can get Liberty Bowl tickets. Iowa State may stink but Memphis is playing in Memphis. If not, downtown will be pretty lit for longer than normal lol.

UK plays Northwestern in the Music City Bowl the same day as the UK/Louisville basketball game. There's not gonna be any blue in the stands

I absolutely can't wait to see if Mayfield can move the ball consistently against Georgia's defense
