Yes, which I think is why he should ultimately win the job (as much as I like Malik) because he's built like an NFL QB, can see the whole field, and has an adequate arm to make all the throws. His biggest issues are accuracy and a slow release... and that's nit picking.

I think our best-case scenario is start Kizer, Kizer goes to the NFL, Wimbush takes over next year. I think if you start Malik he plays two more years, Kizer transfers. The worst case scenario with starting Kizer would be that he stays another 2-3 years at an NFL caliber level and Wimbush transfers... but at least then you have an NFL caliber QB for multiple seasons, so you can't really complain.

Take it from me, Kizer will not transfer. No matter what.

Thanks. Would like to see someone push Tillery, as I get the vibe from listening to the ISD/BGI podcasts, that he's been OK and seems to be almost going through the motions. I didn't think he was as good as people thought last year, and I wonder how he'll be without Sheldon yelling at him all of the time. I'd like to see someone legitimately take his starting job to get him going, not sure Treadway is ready for that or not.

I'm a bit behind on the thread so pardon me if this has been addressed, but Tillery was forced to play nose last year, with Jones out, and Day at 3tech. Along with some lingering issues, I think this contributes to his spring malaise.

But don't take this post as an excuse. The kid has some real work to do, and he doesn't seem to have all the motivation he needs.

Jalen Elliot at SS, I like that. We need a backup plan to Tranquill pronto. Also would love to see Elliot take command of the position so that Tranquill can move to LB next year. Any chance he gets a fifth year as a medical RS?

Nothing more than lip service the way that looks to me.

Kind of like when someone asks you how their kid's doing and you just tell them what they want to hear.

i wouldn't say lip service...morgan couldn't get on the field last year and by ALL reporters and coaches has looked awesome...improved

hayes-redshirted last year but struggled to get into the rotation early which is why he redshirted....he has been praised by the reporters in what they have seen but the coaches as well---seems to be an improvement

bilal-was scout team last year and although injuries happened...he is currently in the 2 deep--that's improvement

crawford-obviously injured, but was supposed to have a niche role in the nickel...by ALL accounts he has been great--that's improvement

Redfield---well who knows there...ben koyack

Tranquill is going into his jr year.

I think he will be good at SS. I think his shortcomings in coverage can be disguised when we are in nickel with Crawford.

Ideally Elliott is what the staff think he is and next year we got Studstill at FS, Elliott at SS and Tranquill at SAM.

I guess Jaylon never embraced the leadership role, which is a pity. I never liked it when he would say "oh its not just in my personality"

Can someone clarify something for me? When labeled as #2 opposite so and so, does that mean you're the second best on the team, or the backup to the guy opposite of so and so?

I take it as "Crawford is the #2 CB, will be playing opposite Cole Luke"

That is not how I remember those quotes. What I remember him asking BVG is for him to help JS be the leader that he can be while maintaining his personality. Be a leader without changing who he is as a person.

I agree that he never developed that skill, but I do think he wanted to and just wasn't mentored in the right way for that. His personality was nothing like BVG's and I felt BVG struggled with that.

Yeah Jaylon just seems like the player who just enjoys playing and having fun with the game. BVG is pretty old school personality wise.

He should. He didn't red shirt his freshman year, he had a season ending injury 2 seasons in a row, and he was injured in 2015 in the 3rd game of the season if memory serves me right. The
first and the latter would be enough to get a 5th year and had he already red shirted, 2 season ending injuries in back to back years would be enough to get a 6th year, too. I don't know if he will want or need it but I believe he would be eligible.

I wasn't even thinking about a 6th year. I'd love to have 4 more years of Tranquill, but would be ecstatic with 3 more. He could be the leader of this defense for the foreseeable future.

so 247 evan sharpley spoke to some sources and had nothing but $HIT NEWS regarding are team on defense

def looks worst than it has in many years :( didn't know it was possible

no one is able to get a pass rush on d line

rochell has been the only stud on the line and even he has no pass rush

morgan still doesn't have the understanding of playbook

grace should have started over joe but joe was the "face of the ND football"

and stanley could go #1 to titans as their staff is close w/ HH
