Said he plans to be at the II camp in June. SPARQ score of 106.35 and plans to major in business management. Playing time will be a big factor. He studied Manti and watched the '12 ND season title run.

STRENGTHS: Has good height with a rangy, muscular build. Very good physical upside. Can run and chase and pursue sideline to sideline. Has good foot quickness and lateral agility to avoid blockers in traffic. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Read-and-reaction skills need polish. Take-on skills at the point of attack and overall pursuit angles need improvement. Lacks great man coverage skills. ... BOTTOM LINE: McGinnis has the length, athleticism and range to develop at the linebacker position. Will need to gain more size and strength and become sounder fundamentally, but has a promising future.

. A sprained ankle and knee sidelined him for most of the 2012 season, giving scouts just two games of sophomore season film to watch.
this info below is from 2013
2015 linebacker Arthur McGinnis, has had exactly that experience.

After injuries derailed his sophomore season, giving college scouts little game action to draw upon, a now-healthy McGinnis became a recruiting factor after an all-combine performance at the New Orleans Nike SPARQ camp. He followed that with continuous solid performances, winning linebacker MVP at both the NUC Baton Rouge combine and 5-star challenge, and making the all-combine team at the Nike Camp in Houston.

"These camps, they've helped me a lot," said McGinnis, who lists Alabama and LSU among his suitors. "It's been going great."

Sometimes on-field performance alone isn't enough and camps are needed to perhaps verify what coaches think they see on film.

Another promising prospect in the linebacker group was Arthur McGinnis, who traveled from New Orleans to compete in the event. The talented defender made the trip worth it by taking home a position MVP. With good size and speed, he possesses some nice physical tools and looks to be a player at his best when he vertically attacks. With his size, we wouldn’t be surprised if he developed into a defensive end or fit into more of a hybrid role.

Hope he makes it to camp!
me too. this is the type of instate prospect that LSU seems to make a living on each recruiting cycle, a lower rated player with tons of talent and potential. I would take him in a second.

My concern with him is that with his tape, he does arm tackle an awful lot. As opposed to Nile Sykes, for example, who looks like he's trying to break people when he tackles them.

Most kids out of high school are not sound tacklers and I am sure this is something that can be improved upon with proper technique and training. If he was only 5'10 185 I would be worried because he probably isn't going to grow enough to be a linebacker, but something like tackling I believe the coaches can help him improve upon.

Every time I see his name pop up, I think we've offered a British man from another time.

Are these his final three? Pretty diverse when compared to others.

I'm not a subscriber, but he's seemed like an A&M lean for several months. If LSU offers, he'll end up there.

Easton is a New Orleans charter school that has OK academics (better than most public and charter schools in the area, but no where near the private schools). Graduates almost never leave the area. I'd read his recruitment the same as Speedy Noil's from last year.

From Sonny Shipp at the LSU Elite Camp:
Arthur McGinnis is back for the entire day and will come back tomorrow if he needs to. He's really working for that offer.
