So when are all the celebrities leaving the country? That is a lot of tax dollars we are losing. And... has anyone checked on Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow?

I DVRed MSNBC and CNN. The meltdowns were refreshing.

On MSNBC Eugene Robinson, WAPO, was pointing out all the excuses why Trump won. Others chimed in readily. Chris Matthews actually took issue with his cohort.

Matthews, with an extremely pained face, noted he was not defending Trump, Trump could do that himself. He pointed out that he thought the group was selling Trump short. Trump started out dead last in a field of 17. He had no organization, no base, no platform no donors. And he won. Then he went up against a highly qualified, well financed, campaign veteran ... again nobody gave him a chance and he won.

Robinson pointed out Trump appealed to racists, etc. Matthews countered that Trump saw a widespread dissatisfaction with the impact of illegal immigration and he marketed it. Trump saw a dissatisfaction with jobs lost to trade agreements and he marketed it. Matthews recited about a half dozen areas that Trump noticed people anguished over and marketed them. He noted Trump was a businessman and filled a need that others never heard or ignored.

Matthews mentioned how the 16 primary opponents underestimated Trump. The RNC and powers that be underestimated him. Clinton and the DNC underestimated him. Most of the time Matthews spoke, he looked down at the table in front of him rather than at the camera. He stressed that the media, "all of us" underestimated him and now we're trying to justify that with racism, misogynism, the Russians, and exit polls.

Matthews noted that Trump was criticized by the pundits for wasting his time late in the campaign visiting blue states in the Midwest when he should have spent his time in NC and FL. "Trump knew something we didn't. He listened and tailored his campaign to market like a successful businessman. He went to states where supposedly he had no chance and won the election."

Matthews closed saying he was not going to predict Trump's failure as president as some others were doing when so many failed previously predicting his failure. Trump has surprised and may well continue to.

Matthews didn't mention a tingle in his leg like he did eight years ago. He looked truly pained. This time he looked like he really was having a baby.

I found it interesting that students that would protest vehemently at the mention of a lynching would hang Trump in effigy. No microaggression there but they were going for straight intimidation. Just without the sheets.

We voted for spending more money at checkout without getting anything extra, more drugs and for more criminals on the streets.... It's a Cali thing.

for more on why people are concerned. Obviously #notalltrumpsupporters and anecdotal as fuck, but people are scared.
Shaun King, are you kidding me? This is utter nonsense, the idea that all of these racists were just waiting for Donald Trump to be elected so they could REALLY say how they feel? That's moronic. Why would they be secret racists before Trump but now all of a sudden they're open and violent about it? Absolute bullshit. False flags, man.

It's not moronic really. Similar behavior was clearly documented at his rallies. I can't tell you how many times I've been around people that have let their guard down (usually after imbibing) and it was suddenly nigger this and beaner that. I've also seen some people I know and grew up with that had moved away from that type of crap pivot back towards it during this particular election cycle. Also, I was in a bar last summer in Calabasas and some white lady offered up unsolicited that she thought Obama was a "stupid nigger". Now, as to how pervasive this is, that's a legitimate question.

Yeah I mean I'm not shocked that you guys don't buy the source and I probably agree that it's not that bad and we're not going to see a breakdown in law and order but that kind of misses the point.

The last three people that I heard use the word "nigger", in my presence, were all life long, hard core Democrats.

I'm not surprised by this. My uncle on my mom's side (Irish and a democrat) hated blacks and didn't think much of Mexicans (lol). I think the question is more of will this type of thing become increasingly acceptable. Where I grew up in east Kern County it sure appeared that people were much more comfortable using racial slurs as of late based on conversations I've had with family members who went back and visited. I don't think this type of stuff had ever fully gone away but it sure seemed much more restrained until this past year.

I don't doubt you at all, but personally, the only people I know who say the n word with any sort of regularity voted for trump yesterday.

I must be surrounded by too many minorities all the time or something... I don't believe I have heard someone (adults only here, kids say the darnedest things at recess) drop a major racial slur at any kind of minority in a hatful way in a really, really long time.... Last I can remember is a trip to Arkansas in 2000 where n bombs were being dropped like nothing....

But here in California? Dude, like maybe not since I was the kid at recess.... I'm going to have to think hard on that....

My uncle, who just happens to be on his death bed currently, is a long time fire fighter in Tehachapi... Honestly that wouldn't surprise me... It always seemed like an odd kind of pocket....

You are continuing to evolve man.

We all hate losing but the metamorphosis I'm seeing in you is questionable.

People like you are dividing this country.
