This is correct. Ishaq didn't sign a UDFA contract. Those who do sign deals worth $1.6 million with very light 5 figures ($15,000) guaranteed.

Williams received a rookie camp tryout and receives no money.

It's tough for late round picks to make 53-man rosters, even more so for UDFA's. The odds are incredibly stacked against someone like Ishaq. He's virtually guaranteed not to make a team. 90-man training camp invite at best. I can't think of any ND players who went rookie try-outs and ever made a team.

Ian Williams.

ETA. He may have been a UDFA.

Jake Coker, De’Runnya Wilson among undrafted SEC standouts

SEC UDFAs of all classes broken down by ratings in position. (ex, Jake Coker, rated third best draft-eligible SEC QB, De'Runnya Wilson WR, MsSt, Dominick Jackson, OL Ala). Wilson and Jackson were second team all-SEC.

Chad Kelly (second team all-SEC) declined to enter the draft early.

Like many players who entered early:

“The main reason why I would even potentially go to the NFL Draft is for my family,” Kelly told the Clarion-Ledger. “My parents work long, long shifts during the week and even on the weekend. My dad can’t even watch some of my games if he doesn’t come down here because he has to work.

“That’s depressing. That’s what you work towards. I live by family over everything. That would be the only reason why. But other than that, I’m focusing on getting a degree.”

He was on schedule to graduate in May.

Ricardo Louis blasts Auburn during Cleveland Browns presser

“I would say that the Browns saw things from me that other teams didn’t see. They understand that I was in a scheme at Auburn that didn’t require me to run very many routes, very diverse or complex routes and the fact that I was not developed as a receiver at the time,” he said.

“Going into the combine, I wanted to prove to everybody that I was versatile and I was able to run routes and catch balls smooth and well. Doing that, looking ahead, they got to see that they can develop me and mold me into the receiver they want me to be.”

I don't think he was blasting Auburn at all.

Auburn has a run first offense, with very simple routes for the WR. If you are a high school WR and want to prep for the NFL, don't go to Auburn.

Doesn't matter how simple the routes are if you have hands made of stone. Lewis dropped more passes last year than the dorm queen jersey chasers ever did.

Yes, Ian Williams was an UDFA. Ishaq has an uphill battle as a try out offer. Being an UDFA almost guarantees you at least make it to fall camp. One thing about even getting a tryout is, it at least gets eyes on you. If someone gets dinged before or during training camp, it increases the odds that you may get a phone call as a body in camp, if nothing else.

If you have potential or a team perceives you have potential even as a long shot, it helps your chances.

Overall, I wouldn't be surprised to see ND's UDFAs stick someplace, if only on a practice squad. Even that would be the fulfillment of a dream for some players and it's a lot closer than the vast majority of players ever get..

Ok. Still don't think he was blasting Auburn as the article states.

Blasting? No. Pointing out that Malzahn's system is what it is? Yes. If there's sour grapes well that can be somewhat expected. Lewis signed up under Chizek. In the end he decided to stay in that wasteland for WR's but that's not blasting and TMZ Sports will never give it a mention unless the talking heads can get Lewis and Malzahn to start jawing at each other at a higher level. I'm pretty sure I just wrote more about the incident than will ever be written again.

I don't pay a lot of attention to the NFL except for the Bears and who they are playing but I hope the Patriots sign ASU's DJ Foster. They will know how to use that kid. I cannot believe he went undrafted. I thought he was going to be the next Thurman Thomas coming out of high school and looked to be on his way to that until last year when he moved to WR only and it just didn't work out.

Bingo. Good for him. Couldn't be in a better position. Bet he shines hard.

OSU is just killing it at everything. Is Harbaugh really ever going to catch Meyer during their time at their respective schools?

OSU is dominating recruiting again:

2017 Football Team Rankings

Might be this year if they get decent play from the new QB. They only had 3 players drafted. OSU has just 6 starters returning.

I was looking ahead at our roster. In a "too early 2017 draft," who does everyone think gets to the NFL (drafted or undrafted FA)?

If they have the kind of season we're hoping:

McGlinchey
Jarron Jones
Tori Hunter
Redfield (needs a big year, but I could see him going late or UDFA)
Luke
Folston
Rochelle
Kizer
Nelson

Some of those guys could have monster years and leave early. Some have a 5th year available. It's hard to say who will stay and go, but I think that list represents the potential NFL-bound guys off of this year's squad. What do you think? Did I miss anyone? (Clearly others could pop up, like Smythe, etc but those were off the top of my head).

...and the MAJORITY of people around here laughed when I said they could be a 2, maybe 1 loss team in '16

I mean, I don't know about that. They certainly could be, but they've got a ton of talent that will get drafted. Mind you I don't follow the Vols that closely, but everything I saw from them showed me a team that doesn't live up to potential. The roster is stacked though, so we'll see.

I'd be surprised if Q Nelson left early for the draft. It's very uncommon for interior lineman to declare early. Everyone else on your list I see having a place in the NFL and could definitely hear their name called. As you said, Redfield really needs to put it together though, and I still doubt he'd get drafted before the late 4th barring a 1st Team All American year. Then again, that didn't help Jeremy Cash to get drafted.

Sure sounds like you're talking about ND

I doubt Q leaves early as well, but I won't be surprised to hear the chatter (similar to Stanley after his Jr. year). Redfield has a build and talent level for the NFL, but he's just not good. I think he can put up some impressive numbers at a combine, for example, but his production this year may be the ultimate factor when it comes to someone drafting him versus giving him a shot as a free agent.

Without looking too much into it, I think McGlinchey could be one of the top linemen taken next year #OLU

Next year is supposed to be pretty light on Offensive Line Talent, especially at tackle. If that holds true, then Big Mike is gonna find himself drafted pretty high.

The difference between Q and Stanley is that Stanley plays the premium position on the O Line, and true or not, a lot of people still hold onto the idea that guards are replaceable and it's a waste of a pick to take them high.

It's the schedule that makes it possible.

@ UGa and Bama home are the toughest games. UF comes to Knoxville. Va Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway is the "big OOC game". Their other SEC-W game is at Trainwreck A&M. Besides that they're @ SCAR, @Vandy, home against Mizzou and UK then add THREE puffs, App St, Ohio and Tenn Tech.

Last years Vols were a lot like the '14 Irish. They found a way to lose because they were a year away, be it inexperience, coaching decisions or bad breaks.

I can see that. I'm still not a believer in Butch Jones though, so I'm not sure that he wins all of those games that sound like cream puffs (the SEC ones). We'll see, I hold no love or ill will towards Tennessee. I'd love to see somebody knock off Bama though.

I think the Bills did a very good job in the draft. I would give them a A-. The only reason I would not give them an A is because their two first picks have injury concerns, but it feels like almost every player has some kind of injury concern. I think they drafted for immediate need with the first two picks and for the next couple of years down the road with the DT in the 3rd and running back later on. Picking Jones in the 4th round is a good pick in my opinion simply because he may become a quality QB, although I don't think he will. Good risk vs reward for a 4th round pick. I would say the Jags are one of the only teams that beat the Bills in the draft. That is not to say they will turn that into wins or for heaven's sake an appearance in the playoffs.
