Williams may be the only one we are truly built to overcome.

We don't know on Stephenson. Had a great spring ball. Not a much hype come camp but most thought he'd see field.

Kelly himself said only 4 LB's he was comfortable with, losing Coney out of that group sucks a big one.

Two DBs, 1 starter and 1 that was pegged to contribute. BIG OUCH.

I don't see how this doesn't at minimum take at least one win away.

I agree with the sentiment. It was all I could do to keep from cursing out loud, (no one else is here, and if they were, they wouldn't care.)

Two suspensions, and generally not having his head in the game. I am okay with kicking him out of ND. But, I bet that isn't the worst of his problems. If he really wanted to obtain employment at the CIA, that may no longer be an option.

Unless . . . CONSPIRACY THEORISTS UNITE! . . . the whole incident is staged to provide Max undercover background for a secret mission. One he couldn't do as an elite college or well known professional athlete . . .

Our depth chart will probably take a hit for the Texas game but they'll all be back by the time we play anyone else capable of beating the other 80 guys on our squad. At this point, nothing that's been reported sounds like suspension-for-the-year level stuff.
It's not a felony to possess small amounts of pot, nor is it a felony to have an unlicensed handgun. Kelly ought suspend them all two games for general stupidity. But more than that seems like a stretch.

ND has generally suspended people for a semester for any drug arrest including weed. So I think it's going to be interesting to see what happens with 5 people in the car.

Whoever had the gun... well, I don't know Notre Dame policy for that. I don't know the last time we had someone caught with an illegal firearm.

He may (probably should). Good question. As Lax said, this is one thing that's never really come up before, fortunately.
Still, that gun belongs to one of them. Not all three.

And for those that wanted to know the difference between SEC ball players and ND ball players getting arrested for pot/guns? The SEC players are stopped in pimped rides, and SUV's like Escalades; ND players? A Fucking Ford Focus.

I mean, my response was mostly just a gut reaction. I support redemption and chances to make amends. With that said, Max is an upperclassman with everything to prove at a position where leadership and stability is crucial. His actions in the bowl game left everyone questioning not just his ability, but also his character. If there was anyone who simply needed a quiet offseason in the social arena and a loud one on the field, it was Max Redfield. More details are needed, could just be a bad mixup, and maybe Max was trying to be loyal.... but hypotheticals aside, why be in that situation to begin with? Whether fair or unfair, the older brother is always charged with the most responsibility.

Are you all kidding me?

There will be an investigation of this like the grand inquisition. This is going to be huge for Notre Dame. If the academic scandal two years ago was a nine out of ten, this will be a twelve out of ten.

And we don't have privy to what has already been buried on any of these kids. Now that will come up. Two years ago may have been dodging bullets, but this may be more like dodging mortar rounds.

This is such a disappointment. I was planning to take a trip to Jax for the Navy game, and to take in the NAS Jax Air Show that is the same weekend. Now, I am rethinking that plan. Not because I don't think the season will be a good one, but simply because I'm not sure I want to go through all of the time, expense, and cashing in free nights at my brother's house, for these knuckleheads. Of course, we'll have to wait for the whole story to be told, but it sure doesn't look like anything that can turn out well for the kids involved.

I feel especially bad for all the hardworking and devoted guys you never read shit about like Rochell and Luke and Zaire and Folston, etc. etc. The option is there for them to act like idiots too. It seems like every year these type of guys are put in a situation where they are left picking up the pieces for the few egomaniacs who like to "express" themselves during the summer.

Lol where do I start? The kid has been a bust pretty much since he took his first step on campus. He's made two really dumb decisions that will result in suspensions in the last 8 months. I would probably feel different if he was a good player. And why is 21-22 year old guy hanging out with a bunch of 18-19 year olds? Go hang out with Big Mike, Q, and everyone at Brothers and Finny's.

I know. It's not like I will stop rooting for the team. But the trip would be a significant investment for me, mostly in terms of time. I was planning to drive down, spend the weekend in Jax, then make some stops in Jawjuh and Virginia on the way back to see some friends.

Come on. This is a huge hit. By all accounts you could argue Dexter would be our most talented back this year, Max is better than anyone else we have there, and Coney was going to play a lot even if he didn't start (which I think he might end up doing since Martini will rotate). Stephenson and White don't bother me, but with Watkins and Butler out, you never know about Ashton White.

Not to mention special teams, where we're now going to replace these guys on every package. We just got paper thin on quality depth.

Guess we have different opinions on HUGE.... Max and Coney sucks, but if u are telling me we have Adams and Folston.. I am good with just giving them more carries...

To me HUGE reflects a hit on win or loss record.. I don't think we lose to Texas with those guys or without them.. I didn't think Max was finally going to become an All American

Depth took a hit but we don't know for how long. For all we know the charges might get dropped for a few of them.

Saying Dex could be our most talented back needs to be in the bold predictions thread. We heave a guy that broke the freshman rushing yards record last year, a healthy Folston, and Jones sounds like he is further along than Dex was his freshman year. Max stinks and this very well could be addition by subtraction. I agree with you on Coney but they have another good one in Bilal.

Every FUCKI$& year. I'm SUPER worried about our FS position now. We have to start a true freshman??? In this scheme? Let's hope Studstill is for real. Dex would've played and he's good but he's RB3 and Jones jr is a stud. Ashton MIGHT have played a little nickel this year. Stepherson was gonna play and this will hurt. Coney would've played this year.... I hate this so much. Mostly cause it makes us ND look bad.
