Not easy road to sweet 16. I don't think they will make it.

Have to beat Princeton and then WVU...crazy

Seems like a down year for the Ivy League. Princeton went undefeated, but their OOC play was pretty mediocre.

They look like the weakest 12 seed by far.

WVU in the second round looks scary, but there is no 2015 Kentucky or 2016 UNC in our region. Looks like the weakest region IMO.

It's all a crap shoot. Stats say Princeton is meh, and I watched them today and they're almost hilariously unathletic. Watching them play Yale was like watching decent HS basketball.

WVU and Gonzaga are listed #5 and #1 by KenPom. That part makes our draw kind of comical is that we could play top 5 KenPom teams in back-to-back rounds. That's absurd. But it's also typical, I can't remember the last time ND wasn't screwed in the draw. Last two years upsets took care of that though.

At least we're not Wichita State. What a screw job.

I know RPI sucks, but Purdue played 4 total teams in the RPI top 25 and only won one... a rather lucky one over us.

We played TWELVE against the RPI top 25 and won 4.

ND went 8-8 against RPI top 50, West Virginia went 6-4. As you'd expect, our SOS is 39 spots higher.

Butler was absolutely deserving to be a 4 seed and I think should've been above Notre Dame. Same with Florida, IMO.

WVU can only win if they turn you over. Who is 2nd in the nation in TO/asst ratio?.. ND. WVU doesmt really scare me that much

Good point that WVU key to success is turning the other team over, which ND doesn't do.

I was with you until this. Absolutely not. Butler, you may have a point, but Florida has no business being seeded ahead of us. They lost to Vanderbilt THREE TIMES for crying out loud. I've already expressed my opinion before regarding the mediocrity of the SEC in basketball, and Florida's resume in and out of conference do not impress in the slightest.

I'm actually quite pleased with where we landed to be honest. Might be the clearest path to the Final Four that we have ever had. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but I see 4 potential matchups that bode well for our style of play.

Overall, I can complain about the dreadful seeding screwjob, but I can't complain about the placement. ND shouldn't have trouble with Princeton, and while West Virginia is a good team, I'm confident in saying that we're a nightmare matchup for them. Like previously stated, their game is predicated on aggression and forcing the opposition into mistakes. ND isn't perfect, but we're certainly one of the most fundamentally sound teams in the game. We're battle tested against talent, size and aggression. Not to mention, WV's style of play has a major flaw, that can be exploited by teams who do well at the charity stripe, ala. ND. That could end up being the biggest 2nd round matchup of the tournament.

ESPN crew just said we could easy give zags trouble in sweet sixteen but they dont think we will win.
Idk if ive ever seen ESPN take ND to sweet sixteen so quickly.
They basically jumped WVU/bucknell like they know we would easily win that game.
I love it. Some respect which we deserve

I don't know much about either Princeton or WV. All I know about Princeton is that they have a sophomore guard that was teammates with Demetrius Jackson at Marian High School. If WV's success truly relies on the other team turning the ball over then I'd feel better about that matchup. But lets get passed Princeton first.

Princeton has won 19 in a won, shoots the three well, and has a leading scorer who will be extra motivated because he's from South Bend.

Fuck.

That's why ISU beat them in B12 Champ game. ISU rarely turns ball over...just like ND. One game at a time. If history teaches us anything, ND can lay an egg at any time....especially when they're heavy favs.

The only guy that worries me bs a team like WVU is Vasturia. He struggles with defensive pressure. I've noticed he loses the ball or throws a pass to the other team or (hopefully) gets fouled. Love the kid and he's contributed a ton all four years, but he's struggled w/ ball handling & beyond the arc most of the year. He finally lit it up from 3-pt range vs UVA but went cold again last night.

love the draw. quite pleased given the opponents, match-ups and chip on the shoulder it provides. ND can do what Iowa State did to WVU and the ivy league was wayyyy down this year. Watched Princeton's last two games and I thought they would have been a high 14 low 13 seed. Goal is get to S16 and see what happens.

Like our draw about as much as you can being a 5. I'm not sure who I'd want to trade with. I'd say I'd like to trade UVA, but I wouldn't want their first round match-up with UNC Wilmington.

WVU is a good team, but a great match-up for us (unless we implode like the first game against FSU).

For as much flack the tournament committee takes, I think the tournament draw, this year, is pretty good. I see where the West is considered the "Weakest", and you got about 5 teams (I think) that could come out, and a bunch of really tough teams to play (WVU, FSU, St. Mary's, VCU) on a quick turn-around.

Looks like we opened at -6.5.

UVA opened at -8.5 over UNC Wilmington. Bunch of lines I don't agree with, which probably means I'm wrong.
