Duke beating Florida State could change a lot. This time tomorrow, after Notre Dame beats Boston College (famous last words for Notre Dame..) and Louisville wins at Wake Forest, this'll be the ACC standings:

1: 13-4 - North Carolina (at Duke 3/4)
2: 12-5 - Louisville (vs Notre Dame 3/4)
3: 12-5 - Notre Dame (at Louisville 3/4)
4: 11-6 - Duke (at North Carolina 3/4)
5: 11-6 - Florida State (vs Miami 3/4)

If Duke beats North Carolina, Notre Dame would need to beat Louisville or risk falling to 5th...if Florida State beats Miami. If Duke beats North Carolina and Notre Dame beats Louisville, the Irish would be regular season ACC co-Champs and Mike Brey passes go, collects $200, and ascends directly into heaven.

We could somewhat realistically still be the 3 seed with a loss at Louisville which is nice.

I am actually more concerned about matching up with UVA than I am Duke. This thing could shake out a few different ways, but I want to avoid UVA like the plague.

Agreed. I'm most worried about UNC, UVA, Louisville, Duke, FSU in that order.

Not going to be thrilled if we somehow get the 2 seed and the UVA is the 7.

I agree UVA has been lile kryptonite to ND, but at the same time we have to beat UVA at some ppint. The regular season matchup was a disaster so maybe the ACC tourney is where we can finally get past the Hoos.

Louisville is only -3.5 tonight at Wake Forest....opens up a scenario with a Louisville loss tonight (and ND beating BC) where we could lose to Louisville and still beat them out for a higher seed due to a tiebreaker.

I was actually wondering this last night. Does anyone know that scenario? I dont have time at work to look over everything right now

If you have the same conference record and went 1-1 against each other, then it goes by who has the best record against the top seed. We both went 0-1 against UNC, so it would move down the next highest seed. They have us beat if it is Duke, we have them beat if it is FSU.

Oh ok gotcha sounds good. So if that all happens then we would get the 2 seed right?

Depends on if FSU or Duke or both are tied with us at 12-6. Lot of factors on Saturday to determine where we fall, anywhere from 2 to 5.

For a tiebreaker with 3+ teams, you go by who has the best winning percentage in games against those tied teams. Any tiebreaker from there is again determined by who has the best record against the top seed.

^If no reporter/site does it after tonight's games, I'll throw together all tiebreaker scenarios going into Saturday. After tonight, there are no ACC games until Saturday, so the picture will clear up a bit.

Doesn't get much worse than this start. The +17 line seemed absurd... should've played it.

For your halftime viewing, Michigan vs Northwestern is tied with 2 minutes to play. If Northwestern loses, they're squarely on the bubble. Michigan is likewise fighting for their tournament lives.

Pretty cool moment for Patrick Mazza to end the game. Crowd chants his name for a few minutes, he finally comes in the game and immediately gets a huge block, then a huge dunk, and a rebound to finish it off. Really good second half with everyone chipping in.

Great win. So sad to see beach and vast leave but they have been pivotal players the past few years.
Beach is catching his stride at the right time. Lets hope we can stop starting so slow to start but if we start slow and end with a W I'm not gonna complain.

Wait why wasn't Torres considered a senior?

And the fact that they got Mazza off the bookstore basketball court is absolutely hilarious. Good for him.

Yeah, Beachem has been playing well lately and like you said is really hitting his stride. He was huge for us in the NCAA tourney last year, hopefully history repeats itself.

Torres already has been approved for a 5th year so I assume that's why.

Probably because he's coming back next year for sure. Same thing happened with Kristina Nelson a few days ago.

Here is what I think are the accurate seeding scenarios for Saturday. We can be anywhere from the 2 to the 5 seed...

ND win: 2 seed
ND loss, Duke win, FSU loss: 4 seed
ND loss, Duke win, FSU win: 5 seed
ND loss, Duke loss, FSU win: 3 seed
ND loss, Duke loss, FSU loss: 2 seed*

*this is assuming that UVA and VA Tech each win at home and there is a 5-way tie at 11-7 in the conference, and that FSU would emerge from that tiebreaker as the 4 seed.......I believe this would also push Duke to the 7 seed for the record.....stupid tiebreakers

^this could all be completely wrong apart from us getting the 2 seed for beating Louisville, so let's just hope that happens.
