Great half all things considered. We need this week off badly.

Can't let NC State get some life early in the 2nd half. I'd like to see Ryan play 10+ minutes in 2nd half as long as we can keep this lead. Need him confident for the post-season.

I would love to see us keep this lead and get Ryan, Torres, Gibbs some extended playing time... Rest some of our guys who are logging major minutes

Dang NC State is not playing well. It doesn't help that we are hot from 3 though.

Well yeah, there's a reason they've lost 6 in a row by an average of 20 points or whatever it is. They aren't very good. Good to see ND is currently taking care of business though, as that's something they've struggled with at times with lesser teams. I sure won't mind if this lead keeps getting stretched out.

NC State getting soooooo many calls... ND on pace for like 15 fouls in this half.

Colson just called for a foul for being near a guy and NC State is shooting... this is really unbelievable. Not as bad as the call on him for the player running into his teammate, but the refs absolutely let them back in this game.

To be fair, ND settling for 3s is also letting them back in the game.

offense bogging down into holding the ball and having to chuck contested 3s late in the clock. ugh.

That """over the back""" call against Colson was hilariously bad.

I have no idea why Brey was still letting the team run when it was a 15+ point margin. NC State is TERRIBLE in the half court. Make them knock down jumpers to come back and it's over. Getting into a transition game let them right back in it.

no defensive intensity at all in the second half.

Brey is usually pretty open with the team. I wonder how much of the talk pre-game was about getting through this game before a full week off....could see that causing us to get sluggish after going up big.

Wake Forest and Duke tied up at 47 at half. That'd be big!

Also need to be Pitt fans today.

Pitt takes down Florida State, Notre Dame moves up to 4th in the league. If Virginia could somehow take down Carolina tonight, the Irish would be a half game out of first.

Does the ACC factor in tie-breakers in Conference Championships? Or is it strictly league record?

If it doesn't, then go UVA!

If it does, then go UNC!

If it factors tie-breakers, we are just behind too many to actually think we could pull it out. But, a UNC win puts UVA on the brink of being out of the double-bye.

Would have loved a Wake win today, but I'll take the Pitt win.

We just need to keep hoping for upsets through the next 2 weeks.
EDIT: Actually, the VT being L'Ville would have been huge for us, as we, currently, hold the tie breaker over L'Ville for the double bye, even if we lose there (if FSU quits losing).

ACC Standings:

North Carolina (11-3)
Louisville (10-4)
Duke (10-4)
Notre Dame (10-5)
Florida State (9-5)
Virginia (8-6)
Miami (8-6)
Syracuse (8-6)

This thing is still wide open.

First, the Irish have to take care of business:

vs Georgia Tech
vs Boston College
at #8 Louisville

North Carolina doesn't have an easy schedule left:

vs #8 Louisville
at Pittsburgh
at #14 Virginia
vs #12 Duke

They did just blow the doors of Virginia last night but next time it's an away game for the Tar Heels, and both Louisville and Duke will be playing as if the ACC title is on the line because, well, it is.

Not bad ill take it.
So I was looking over the standings and realistically to get a double bye we really only need Virginia and Miami to lose at least 1 more game and for fl st to also lose 2 more ganes then we basiclaly have the 4th spot locked up(assuming we beat GT and BC). Duke and Louisville still have tough games ahead of them so its not out of the question we can move up but to get the double bye as of right now looks very doable. Also Virginia plays Miami tonight so that takes care of one of them

So looking at "top 8" group games, it looks like ND should land in the top 4 and get the double bye.

North Carolina (11-3): 3 - LOU, @UVA, DUKE
Louisville (10-4): 3 - @UNC, SYR, ND
Duke (10-4): 4 - @SYR, @MIA, FSU, @UNC
Notre Dame (10-5): 1 - @LOU
Florida State (9-5): 2 - @DUKE, MIA
Virginia (8-6): 2 - MIA, UNC
Miami (8-6): 3 -@UVS, DUKE, @FSU
Syracuse (8-7): 2 - DUKE, @LOU

So that guarantees at least 10 losses in this group. So a lot will change, but ND has the easiest road down the stretch with Duke going to have 4 more battles.

2/20 update

We are a 6 seed on Bracket Matrix: The Bracket Project's Bracket Matrix - 2017

RPI: #24, SOS: #31
Kenpom: #26, SOS: #23
Sagarin: #23, SOS: #20
BPI: #21, SOS: #14

That six seed is very important to me. A 6 seed historically has an expected win total that is 25% higher than a 7 seed and is 0.02 higher than a 5 seed. Moreover, a 6 vs 5 seed for making it to the S16 is virtually the same and more 6 seeds have made the E8 than 5 seeds.

BracketOdds - How Far Does Each Seed Advance?

I don't see value in moving to a 5 seed and a 4 is probably out of the question sans winning the acc tourny

Ya I agree I was just saying if we moved up to a 5 seed I wouldn't be mad. Like you said it might be a stretch to get to a 4 seed but we never thought we wpulf win the ACC tourney a couple seasons ago so who knows.

It all depends on matchups with us unfourtunatly. We shall see. We beat Louisville the last game then a 4 seed is defiantly in sight

Miami is getting hosed by the officials, and of course just tied the game with a minute to go.
