But if Coleman or Alize are not able to play I could live with that. But, Tillery would be a huge loss.

I assume it was confirmed players are involved? If that's the case I really do hope it's only freshman like reported and not any that are playing this year.

I'm sorry it happens and I wish it didn't happen or involve anyone, but I'm here on the football board. If football players were involved, I don't want it to be key ones.

I actually take this as a good sigh. My thinking,..... if it did involve FB players, and happened Thursday night, Yahoo, ESPN, etc would already be all over it.

What's less likely, multiple people involved in sexual assault or the best linebacker the school has ever seen dating a dead fake girl? My BS meter is utterly shattered as ND football is concerned.

Seriously? Happens all the time unfortunately in cases like gangrape. Even the incident Jameis was accused of involved other guys filming/trying to get involved. It's revolting, but it happens.

Aside from that tweet, I haven't seen anything about players being involved.

In some states they are synonymous in the legal system. Not sure about Indiana.

I think in Indiana sexual assault is an umbrella that includes rape among other things. The Seeberg case, for example, was alleged unwanted sexual touching. It's actually a big problem because grabbing a boob does NOT make you a rapist. But they're often reported as the same thing.

If it is football player(s) though, and if they did it, you'll never see them on the field at Notre Dame again no matter what class they're in. Not after the Prince Shembo thing.

The fact that they're reporting where/when it happened would certainly suggest that they know who was involved. It'll be out before long one way or the other. When's Kelly's next press conference?

I agree. And, as discussed above, "sexual assault" can mean a lot of things and we obviously don't know all (any) details yet. But if it involves football players, this time around I suspect they'll take a much harder line.
Even if it doesn't get to the level of criminal charges, it may become a "transfer out of the program" situation. That happened when I was a student there in the late '90s, and awareness of campus sexual assault has come a long way since then.

I think as a father of girls there might be reason worry, not panic...15 is close to college.

As far as ND football, I'm not too too concerned (fingers crossed).

I think most institutions have emails like these that go out. I doubt it's an indication that incidents are on the rise. But at least they are being called out whenever they happen.

To the player thing... yeah, there is a poster on this site with a sterling reputation that noted a specific player in a message awhile ago. He can reveal that if he wants, and there was a second player also mentioned.

The bottom line is that these emails are routine. Especially in the wake of the Seeberg incident from years ago, ND is going to publicly alert everyone the moment an investigation starts taking place. Right now we don't know anything about the allegations or their veracity so I think we should be in "wait and see" mode.

Sexual assault could be anything from an attempt of unwanted kissing to forcible rape.
