Can someone update the first post?

Also, how many spots do we have left in the class?

I agree, it's probably 2016 recruit, Hayes.

I second Tussin's post about updating the OP. Please and Thanks.

From the breakdowns I've come across, it seems there are 6 spots left, with that number possibly swelling a bit based on 5Y, Frozen Five outcomes, transfers, NFL departures, etc.

Brian Kelly, Notre Dame Poised to Go on Huge Recruiting Run | Bleacher Report

If that look back tells us anything, it's that this Irish coaching staff will be aggressively recruiting all the way until signing day in February. We saw that last weekend, with top prospects Equanimeous St. Brown and Frank Buncom joining Wimbush on official visits. The Irish also hosted Florida State commit Calvin Brewton and Alabama pledge Mekhi Brown, making their pitch to both.

The Irish staff has long circled top, uncommitted prospects Soso Jamabo, Tevon Coney and Porter Gustin. They're also after UCLA commitment Aliz'e Jones, a high school teammate of Irish commit Nicco Fertitta. That leads to some speculation that Wimbush could flip one of his teammates, 5-star cornerback and Alabama commit Minkah Fitzpatrick, one of the top cover prospects in the cycle. That the staff is still pushing on this cycle while working hard on 2016 prospects gives you an idea that Kelly and his recruiting staff are a well-oiled machine.

All is fair in love and recruiting. (Or at least, I think that's how it goes.) And with scholarship numbers tight and a young roster looking even better in 2015, you can't blame Kelly for trying to seize the moment, building a roster that could produce a lot of wins—and headaches for opponents—in the coming years.

I believe we have room for 28 players ('15 signees and 5Ys) with that number likely to grow to 30-31 or so with possible early NFL departures (KVR) and medical (Baratti). I don't like to speculate on transfers, but we'll probably have one of those as well.

Looking at the 5Y list, I see seven guys (six starters if you include Farley) who are very likely to come back: Golson, Carlisle, Martin, Hegarty, Hanratty, Schmidt and Farley, and a few others that ND would normally take but probably won't due to a numbers crunch. I know there were some differing opinions before the season started on some of these guys being asked back, but I don't think BK turns away returning starters or guys that have started like Hanratty and Farley. Also, the 2016 class will be extremely small (as of now less than 10) unless we open up some spots with 5Y players in 2015. We probably couldn't have planned a worse year to have a small class given the success we're all predicting in 2015.

So, if we assume the available number grows to 31, and we bring back seven 5Y players, that leaves us with 24 spots (17 commits + 7 TBD) for 2015. Given our target list and recruiting momentum right now (despite the academic violations), this is setting up to be an exciting finish to the '15 class.

247 Target List:

QB - Brandon Wimbush (PSU commit)
RB - Soso Jamabo, Nick Brossette (LSU commit), Cameron Scarlett
TE - Aliz'e Jones (UCLA commit)
WR - Equanimeous St. Brown, Cordell Broadus
DL - Porter Gustin (DE/OLB), Christian Wilkins, Neville Gallimore, Joseph Wicker
LB - Asmar Bilal, Tevon Coney, Bo Wallace
DB - Iman Marshall, Ykili Ross, Calvin Brewton (FSU commit), Marvell Tell, Frank Buncom IV, Mook Reynolds (VT commit), Hunter Dale

Of those 21 players, two are composite 5-stars (Marshall and Gustin), 15 are composite 4-stars and four are composite 3-stars (Dale, Wallace, Scarlett and Brewton).

Thank you! My dream list is still Soso, ESB, Gallimore, Bilal, Coney or Wallace, and Marshall. IF Brewton wants to flip, take him too. Getting ESB and Marshall out of Cali a huge hurdle. Same for Brewton and Coney leaving Florida. Jones is a take no matter what...any updates on him?

Sure sounds like we're going to land Bo Wallace... maybe sooner than later.

I honestly don't know who I want more between Jamabo and Brossette. Brossette has that awesome natural running style, but Jamabo has so much more speed and upside.

Here's a money quote on Brossette from his brother:
Right now, he’s still committed, but he’s focusing right now on his season. We talk as a family on a lot of different things, but nothing is about to happen at this moment. He’s just focusing on this season and trying to complete his senior year.

Also noted how being able to play right away is important and they liked the RB rotation... why this is especially important has to do with Fournette being the bell cow at LSU for the next two years at least.

I have to give Loy some credit here. He's been calling this for a long long time. Not necessarily a flip but sincere interest for the entire process.

Brossette would give us something we don't have right now and haven't had in a while in that he is a true power back. He reminds me a lot of Jeremy Hill who just graduated from LSU. Doesn't have great speed but is quick enough to make people miss. Also I love in Brossette's highlights how he knows what he is. That type of running style is so fun to watch if you can block well enough for it.

That being said I think Soso is on another level. Should be a 5 star. I can't put up the numbers he has even in a video game.

Bo Wallace will be Irish if there's room in this class. He's been very interested for awhile and his parents like ND even more.

For the love of God can someone update the OP in this thread. This is supposed to be the Quick Hits thread for recruiting and it's not even close to being up to date.

Still waiting for ESB, Soso, Coney, Bilal, and Alize. Is Iman Marshall coming for a visit? Where do we stand with Gallimore?

Completely shut down recruiting Gallimore. Marshall continues to talk OV's to the same 5 and ND is one of them. No date set.
