Good for him. The more he sees, the more he'll see how much different and special ND is.

Keep telling yourself that. I don't get the same warm, fuzzy feeling with this kid as with other kids that were supposedly in good shape with. Something about him makes me think he winds up down south. Hope I'm wrong, he seems to be a key recruit this cycle, but I just can't help but get that sinking feeling.

Can I ask why y'all think Williams is ND's to lose? Is it just cause of Rochelle? I agree that ND has a solid chance, but I personally think this is an open race in which ND has a slight lead. Like a 5% lead.

Yessir I agree. I'd say multiple visits, Rochell and him stating we will get an official... even though he hasn't officially released his "top 10."

I'd say IF he has a leader it has got to be us or Clemson. Auburn has recently been picking up speed like some dudes were talking about earlier.

Rochell people, Isaac Rochell.

To Peoria's question, 4 visits to a Midwest school when he has visited no other Midwest schools at all and no other school that much is pretty telling. He also had a quote to the sound of he wants to show his parents the school he is so interested in or likes so much or something like that for his upcoming visit.

I don't get the same feel here as I did with Rochell. Felt like Rochell was destined to eventually choose ND. I feel like Williams will stay in the SEC or Clemson. We'll see.

Don't get your panties in a ruffle, my phone auto corrects to Rochelle for some reason. I fixed it for you.

Haha I was joking, for some reason I accidentally typed "Rochellz" before the edit which is even worse.

Andrew and Isaac are pretty close. They workout together outside of school, doing Longo's program. Andrew has stated he wants his parents to see the school he loves so much (ND) and they will be in SB soon, to do just that. As far as I know, his parents haven't been to either Auburn or Clemson for that matter.

Yeah, I had a family I lived next to for a while that spelled it Rochelle. That's why it's engrained in me that way.

And I hear what you're saying about him showing it off to his family. I didn't know he had made 4 visits. I thought it was 2. Still, I think this race is closer than people seem to make it out to be. We shall see though.

With all of those visits, he's seen pretty much everything the SEC/ACC can offer, and in most cases more than once and he still talks about being in love with ND. Plus he's planning a 4th visit to ND with his parents?

He's going to ND and I'll keep telling myself this.

He's made 3, has one scheduled for camp which would be 4. Previously he talked about visiting this summer and OVing which means he had 5 visits to ND in mind. Now he wants to decide before the season so obviously the OV would probably only happen if he was committed.

I hope you're right. I'm just not feeling as optimistic as you.

I don't blame you, the past 12+ months have been a crazy train. Southern boys don't travel to the midwest to sight see, though. All signs point towards ND for him IMO.

I think maybe it's in the way people define "ours to lose". To me, that means ND is the clear leader and all we have to do is close the deal. I think you have the same definition I do. Others might view the term differently (which is fine).

By our definition, no way is he ND's to lose. He likes other schools to, and gushes about them as well. Auburn, Ole Miss, Miami, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson...he loves them all. He can't wait to see Georgia Tech (his brother is there) and LSU as well. I mean, if you listen to him in his interview with Farrell, he names a ton of schools he has major interest in.

Here's how I judge when a recruit is ND's to lose: When he is talking to other teams' reporters, and he mentions Notre Dame as being in the lead or in his top 2 or whatever. That is a major tip-off, and guys like Michael Floyd and Jaylon Smith et al always mentioned ND whoever they were talking to. I read all these articles on Williams written by other fan sites, and he rarely if ever mentions ND. In that interview with Farrell, he mentions his top 10 and he mentions ND last. That's not a big deal, but sorry, that is not a guy that is ours to lose IMO.

Now, I think we have a good shot, but there is A LOT of work to do still. Clemson and Auburn and who else knows are going to be in it for him, no doubt. Gonna be a battle.

Personally I think if a player from the South doesn't commit fairly early to a school up North then there is less likely a chance he ends up North later on. Not always the case but that's my general perception. The prevailing attititude in the South is that a player should play first in their home state and if not that then another school in the South.

It goes to what Whiskey posted in another thread about fans and players of big state schools in the South - especially when it comes to the SEC and their culture. He was right in stating that it is a personal thing and how fans in the SEC cheer for the SEC as a whole even when they can't stand the other schools in the SEC. I don't mean personal in a hate filled way. It's football... it's business... and it's family in that sense. And no school or conference will convince the SEC fans otherwise. Just the prevailing thought.

I think Notre Dame is in pretty good shape right now with Williams. But if he doesn't commit on this upcoming visit to the Irish then I would start to worry just a little.

its definitely a them versus us thing, ive read a couple of books about alabama football and its like a socio-economic thing, they definitely have a chip on their shoulders towards the north and its through football that this is manifested.

Agree 100%. Some of them are still fighting the War down here.

i read this book about the Bama - USC (Sam Cunningham goes Tecmo Bowl on Bear Bryant's Defense) game of 1970. Provides some good insight into the mindsight of Bama (and in general SEC/southern football fans) and the events that drive them to be the way they are.
Of course, civil war is mentoined but also poverty in the south etc so the football field is where they always had the best chance to fight back if it were.

I've seen plenty of derogatory comments on this site alone directed towards southerners. This is a two-way street.

Don't disagree either but maybe this is a topic for another thread sometime. I would rather stick to football.

Aha yeah im thinking the same, back to Williams I have to say he is definitely making the most of his recruitment, he has visiting many schools now you can't see he isn't doing his due diligence.

I've seen way more posted about the South on here than I've ever seen about the North on SEC football sites. Most SEC sites simply say that Northerners can't play football, I've seen IE members say that Southerners are racists, idiots, fatsos, inbreeders, and that no student attending a state school down here has the moral fiber/maturity of a northern school attendee. Most of these were joking, but a good number were very serious.

If anyone doesn't believe me look at the Elijah Hood thread. A small sample of Alabama fans reacted the same way OSU fans did last year when that UM recruit burned his letter, by acting tough and saying "he wouldn't do that around here" and that he "better stay away from Tuscaloosa/Columbia". But instead of just dismissing this as usual fan-speak, everyone acted like those were "super-cereal" threats that had racial components behind them (for a reason I can't figure out, because apparently Alabama fans would've been fine with a white kid flushing his letters.)

I sure hope so. I personally don't see it happening but this is one of those scenarios where I really want to be wrong.
