Taking into account when these items popped up in my life thus including the times and my age when they hit

Movie: Die Hard
(I actually remember seeing a movie before it came out where the trailer for Die Hard played and people came out talking about the Die Hard trailer more than the movie we just saw)
Honorable mention of old movie only seen on TV : Arsenic and Old Lace - Cary Grant played growing ever more crazy just perfect

TV: Knight Rider - This one was so great for a young boy to love that I showed it to my young son and ended up buying all four seaesons for him to watch over and over
Also, Quantum Leap...comedy, drama, history, and even a certain spirituality...Sam Beckett was an everyman who literally became every man (and some women).

Everyone should add a "guilty pleasure" movie to their list. A movie you know is average (or horrible), but love watching it over and over anyways. Or maybe one you are embarrassed to admit you like.

Some of mine:

Friday the 13th movies
Tales from the Crypt episodes
Karate Kid Part 2,3 or 4
Predator II
Rocky V

And an embarrassing one: Ghost (I'm Crayze for Swayze, and got misty eyed watching this after he passed)

Commando - The scene where Arnold drops off the landing gear of a jet airliner taking off into a swamp and is no worse for wear is classic.

Red Dawn (the original)

I thought when I saw Karate Kid Part 4 that was your embarrassing list. :)

Best T.V. Show I would have to say, The Honeymooners, because while great in its own right it was the template for other great shows like I Love Lucy, All in the Family, The Jefferson's, Married With Children, and The Simpson's.
Greatest Movie is really tough, so many great ones, depends on what you like. Some personal favorites, Life is Beautiful, Good Will Hunting, anything with Bogart, Godfather, Inception, No Country for Old Men, Shawshank, Road to Perdition, Snatch, Anonymous etc...etc...

Guilty Pleasure. Talladega Nights, Step Brother's, Princess Bride.

I feel like these are way too good to be guilty pleasure movies. Is it just me?

Well, I know we love them, but when it comes down to it, are they really great moviemaking? Will they go down as any of the best movies of all time? That is a hard question to answer without superlatives.

Well, I guess you are right. Are they "good movies"? I don't know. Maybe not.

I guess my test for a guilty pleasure movie is not whether I think other people think it's objectively a good movie, but whether I am embarrassed to tell people I like it. Other people might have different definitions.

lol. Ah...well, I guess that would be good criteria...

In that case, my guilty pleasures are:
Shakespeare in Love
Sweet Home Alabama
Kung Fu Panda

To many to say considering all the generes.

Movies some good ones:
Godfather 2
Amores Perros
American History X
The Filth and the Fury (best music doc in my opinion)
The Decline of Western Civilization 1 and 2
Big Wednesday (must watch for surfers)
China Town
LA Confidential
Thin Red Line
Kingdom of Heaven
Cheech and Chong Up in Smoke

TV Shows:
Sopranos hands down best writing for a show.
Frontline for reporting. Their series on both Mexico's drug war and the financial collapse were phenomenal.

Not saying any of these is my hands down favor, but based upon the eclectic combination, and the fact that I rarely ever see any of these show up in anyone's list, I am amazed.

Guilty Pleasure. Talladega Nights, Step Brother's, Princess Bride.

Bogart=Maltese Falcon, Dial-M, African Queen.

Road to Perdition = Paul Neuman's last appearance. Also Cool Hand Luke

hahaha YES, that's what I'm talking about. Great selections, all. In the same spirit, a couple more of mine are:

You Don't Mess With the Zohan
The Sweetest Thing
Sister Act

Get Smart
Casablanca

Another entry for Rick!

When I was a kid, the big argument was over which was a better show, Get Smart, or Hogan's Heroes. The debates, evenly split, would get quite heated among us boys. They would always end with one sticking out his thumb and index finger and declaring, "Missed it by that much!" and the other declaring, "I see nothing!"

It's hard when you only take a few minutes to pick and there are so many really good movies and TV. My list might change by the hour when my age-addled brain finally remembers another one that I love. Of course, there is also the "eclectic tastes" thing that occurs here. Like I could say how I only really like two Tarantino movies and people here will be PMing to get my home address to come punch me in the mouth.

Road To Perdition is fantastic and highly underrated.
