From the little I saw, it seemed like the Canadians had two extra guys on the ice all the time -- I mean, all over the puck. Tough loss for our goalie. Well, hope the Canadians win on Saturday.

Isn't Canada supposed to win in hockey, just as the U.S. is expected to win in basketball? Or am I way off here? I haven't followed NHL close enough to be able to compare the strength of each team.

Sucks, need a #1 center and needed more offense on D, and another scoring forward.. But probably wouldn't have made a difference.

Pretty much, yes.

Yes but we had a darn good team this year. I really thought if it was any year, it was going to be this year.

IDk anymore, at this point I think I would have rather seen Russia win the damn thing... I hope Sweden crushes them.

Pretty much, but we are much closer to them in Hockey than anyone is to the US in basketball... (sucks that we dominate the only sport I couldn't care any less about).

Good game. This should have been the final, even though Sweden is for real. Quick was outstanding as usual, but Canada as a unit played by far their best game. Hard to win against when they are on like that. Team USA had a great tournament. They played some really solid hockey.

I was trying to avoid the Internet and watch the game DVRed tonight ... and then some asshole walking past my office just shouted out the result. I could kill him.

Ah well. I'm really proud of the way the U.S. has played so far in this tourney. Let's hope we can beat the Finns and take home a medal.

Will be tough to do if they get Rask back in the lineup. Honestly, I'm not sure Sweden would even have beaten Finland if Rask had played. That second goal was WEAK. Lehtonen had as clear a view of the shot as you can get. He's gotta get that pad on the ice if he's gonna get the nod over Annti Niemi, a Stanley Cup winning goalie. Finland has to be frustrated.

North is better down the center and better on the blue line, wings are a push and we have better goaltending, though price played well today.

I told myself I wouldn't do any trash talking, but this picture is just too much.

If you're implying that Canada (Michigan) beating the US (Notre Dame) is just bad luck, you must not really follow hockey very much. Canada really were the better team today, outside of goaltending; this is no different than Vancouver where Miller kept the US in the game. There is no debating that Canada has more talent overall, although that gap has closed and continues to close.

North is better down the center and better on the blue line, wings are a push and we have better goaltending, though price played well today.

That is a fair breakdown, but I would suggest to be more pointed:
-Canada much stronger down the middle
-I give Canada overall advantage for 4 lines along the wings, although agree that for top unit or top two it is close
-Canada has a considerably stronger blue-line overall (US first pair are very good, but cannot roll 3 defensive pairs anything close to Canada's)
-US has better and more consistent goaltending in Quick/Miller; both Price and Luongo have bad playoff demons in recent years.

Amazing given how strong Canada are up front, that their forwards haven't scored much during these Olympics

Canada is the US of bball? I wouldn't say that. If the US is fully healthy, I think they could field the two top teams in Olympic Bball.

Your argument is not valid. Canada could easily field 2 top teams in the olympics as well.
