Someone needs to remind Canadians that the only reason their little po dunk country isn’t Klurcrapastan is because they are lucky enough to sit right above us. They’d also be wise to pray to the Good Lord that we Americans have four or five sports we care about more than hockey…

(points to overall medal count)

Score board bitches... winning a battle doesn't change the fact you'll lose the war...

I'm just going to drop this little jewel here. See what happens.

USA Olympic team SOCHI 2014

I was winning this game until right at the end when I was just standing there and they called be for hooking, cross checking and tripping all on the same play. I don't understand.

OK, seriously, the Canadians scored one to make it 2-1 and after that they just smelled blood. You've got to rise to that, and our women got a little nervous and small. On balance, I'm proud of the US ladies; it's the Canadians' national sport, not ours, and we're just a hair behind them. True, their players all play at US colleges, but that makes the US women better, too. No complaining here.

Pretty sure that wasn't for the women's hockey game. He reportedly only watches the snowboarding half-pipe events.

I suspect it was actually related to the fact that Canada has passed a law on legalization of 'crack' for medicinal purposes.

Now, with free 'health care' he can get rid of that stupid-ass dealer who has helped him get into his publicity nightmare, so just watch his reaction tomorrow if his second wish comes true: his buddy Aaron Hernandez gets released on day parole.

You obviously don't read the President thread where the Dems know the U.S. is oppressive and the Reps know the country has gone to hell.

What a complete abomination in the officiating department. I don't want that crew within 500 miles of center ice tomorrow.

Let's go.

Being proud of your country is one thing. Constantly decrying it the best is irritating.

I suppose I know what you mean. But if you want the country that's big and bad enough to come in and fight side by side and back to back with you to help you win a couple of world wars when you are outnumbered against some badass MFers, then you gotta take the big ego that's proud and stubborn and sometimes a little too much that comes with it. It's all part of the same package.

O.K. phork, You've got me confused. Your two statements strike me as 180 degrees apart, conflicting ... antonyms so to speak.

I took your first statement as commenting on braggadocio, as in "The Ugly American" stereotype but "decrying" means to speak disparagingly, denigratingly, publicly denouncing as Jane Fonda did. How is demonstrating pride by calling it the best, denigrating?

It seems you're just irritated by Americans.

Nothing more sad than people being mad and depressed over women's sports. Is it football season yet?

Ain't that the truth. Stick a USA uniform on someone and say they are participating in the Olympics and we suddenly care about them and their sport. Never thought I would see a picture of ice dancers as a point of American dominance in sports on IE.

I had a Canadian associate explain to me that being a little country (the Canadian's words NOT mine) like Canada sharing a border with the USA is like a mouse sleeping next to an elephant. It's comforting knowing the Big Guy is there for protection but terrifying trying to sleep while your afraid the elephant will roll over.

Shouldn't Bobby D already have made a joke here? I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth on IE this morning.

C'mon, Bobby, there's gotta be something that can be said about sleeping next to a great big animal. Don't let the ease of the joke sway you from making it.

Thats kind of the difference here. There was probably very few people in Canada not glued to a TV watching this game (work places stop, schools roll in TVs), while I am sure in the US there were very few who cared past the fact that it was a gold medal game.

Poor word choice clearly. Substitute praising in.

My attitude has come from idiots like this guy:

U.S. Winning Gold In Hockey Is Good; But Beating Canada In The Process Is Even Better « CBS Detroit

I also explained to you guys that I am an equal opportunity hater. I hate everyone equally. That way there is no decision process re: friend/foe

BTW ACamp, did you feel the gold medal breeze, that was us. Thx.

So why form your attitude from idiots like Riger? He's a radio shock jock from ... Michigan. You can't believe anybody from Michigan.

Besides he a cat lover.
