Yea. The Fins, the Czechs a and the Slovaks are on the outside looking in. Slovakia might be the best out of the 3. Still, they are really good teams.

The Swedes do have some injuries, but they still have world class defense and goaltending. They will move the puck well on that big ice.

Russia is interesting. If they show up and play hard, they will be tough to beat.

I do like Canada's roster. Too bad Stamkos won't be there(for hockey fans in general). It has a lot of speed, especially on the defensive end. That was the big mistake they made in Torino. I mean, Foote, McCabe, Pronger, Regehr, and Blake. What were they thinking(smh). There was no speed on that defense. This one is very much the opposite.

I also like team USA as a unit. Also, any team in the tournament should fear Quick in the clutch.

Can't wait.

speaking of quick, he just put the miller/quick debate to bed with the back of his olympic mask…

I have family in Boston that I have visited a few times, here's my recommendations:

Visit Cheers (the original on Beacon), have a Sam Adams Boston Brick Red, and sit in Norm's seat.

Take one of the trolley tours that goes around downtown. You'll see all the sites like Boston Commons, Quincy Market, Paul Revere's house, the Old North Church, USS Constitution

Go on the Minuteman Trail. I suggest starting at the visitor center with the video presentation and then following it through Lexington and Concord. Make sure you go to the Old North Bridge and explore that area (hopefully the weather will be good).

I'm a fan of history, so that's the kinda stuff I enjoy.

Thanks! I'd rep you but I guess you were one of the last people I gave some to so i have to wait a bit. Owe you a rep when I can again.

FYI- Stay off of ESPN if you don't want spoilers. I just learned that the hard way.

US is better than Canada in women's. Even with the loss today, I'd take USA to win the title game rematch.

I'll also be surprised if Canada takes down Russia for gold in men's. Russia is going to get a ridiculous amount of friendly officiating.

Agree with you on the women's side, men I think Canada takes it.

The Russians, their goalies in particular, want nothing to do with canada.

I still think the U.S has a legit shot on the men's side. They have probably the strongest goalietending in the tourney, they also aren't built like an all-star team.

I definitely think they have a shot. They are missing a first line center (canada has four...ridiculous) though. I love the rest of the team.

Canada is so much more talented than any other men's side. That's definitely true. I just see Russia getting like 2-3 goals worth of laughable officiating/rigging.

Is everyone here familiar with Russia's 1972 basketball gold? That's what I see happening. Whatever it takes to get it done in Mother Russia.

There was a good ESPN(?) short about that. Despicable.

I know that 72 team became the face of the 'spoiled brat American' for not taking the silver medals... But that team won twice, had the guy step over the line on the third in-bonds pass... And still weren't allowed their win... I would hold onto that for a while too... I honestly can't think of any other team that had it taken from them so blatantly more than that one... In any sport, ever.

Quick getting the start tomorrow. I will be up watching the game at 4:30.

I will also switch over to the Slovenia/Russia game. I know Slovenia doesn't have a shot, but I am stoked to see Kopitar get to represent his country. Can't wait to see what he can do on Olympic ice even if he is the only one the other team has to key on.

Also really interested to see the Brown-Kesler-Kane line. That could be a pretty good 3rd line.

You gotta keep up, Lax. Keep up! 2 pages back.
:)

Anybody have any doubts that Russia's hockey team will be helped out by officiating? Like the '72 b-ball game type of cheating? No way Putin can have this team lose in hockey.

The U.S program for women is way better than the Canadians. I used to play hockey every day of my life, and I can count on my hands the number of times I randomly saw girls hockey in Canada. When I went to the US, it was everywhere. Although, Canada always manages to win the gold at the olympics. We'll see I guess.

I don't know about the officiating. This is not 1972. The refs most probably won't be Russians or Canadians for that game anyways.

I think Finland has the best goaltending (Rask, Niemi, Lehtonen, too bad Rinnie is hurt) in the tournament but the US has a better team than them especially after Finland has lost their top 2 centers.

2 goals from that line, Brown and Kesler. Kane assisted on both. True, everybody was getting into the scoring today, but still, I like that start.

Kesler is a player you hate when he plays for the other team but love when he plays for your team. Great two-way player and agitator. I always liked putting Kane with a center like that since Kane is not such a great two-way player. (The Blackhawks need to find a center like him, if they insist on playing Toews and Kane on different lines. I thought Dave Bolland was the answer at one point, but he never settled in as second line center.)

Norway hanging in there with Canada. I believe they only have one NHLer on the team (Zuccarello). 0-0 1:58 left in the 1st.

Bolland got the job done in the playoffs, though.

Kane is a tad bit underrated as a defender. He's not going to win a Selke, but he's definitely improved his back checking and overall defense. Quenneville does a good job mixing up the lines to make something happen. He did last year when he put Kane with Bickell and Toews. It gave them a spark and made bickell millions.
