For the slightly older ND fans...

I'm 39, and I remember missing most of the 88 ND-Miami game due to having an epic game of backyard football. I think I had like 7 TDs.

Epic.

Win.

The only game permissible to have un-seated the Natty of '88...

39 years old....40 in October. Most of you guys are "pups" yet. Enjoy and take in everything that you see, smell, hear, touch surrounding this game. You'll remember it forever. You'll talk to your own kids/grandkids about it. JUST DON'T FORGET.

Talked to my dad (66 yrs. Old) about the game monday, asked if he was up for game watch. That didn't go well for me.....I got yelled at. lol :) He said, "Son, you only get to see something like this so many times in your lifetime. I'm 66 years old and may not see another, so we need to be together." :) We decided to have my bro (Irishnd31) on skype in Western Pa so we could all watch together...one way or another.

Win or lose, it's going to be an emotional, exciting game.

Love thee, Notre Dame

I was in high school the last time ND won the National Championship. All I ever remember hearing CONSTANTLY was how we could NOT beat Major Harris and WVU! Sound familiar???

Did you see me in the stands during the National Anthem? I was standing next to a HS school friend who was also a Domer. This was our freshman year at ND. When we got back to Orlando (after a 24 hour drive) my parents said that they saw Jim and asked "where were you?" His parents told him that they saw me and asked "where were you?"

Good trip, good game, good times.

Priceless.

35 so I was born the year of a national championship. I grew up watching with my grandfather. I vaguely remember the Faust era and I remember very much the year Holtz was hired and slogging through his 1st 2 seasons. My grandfather was very adamant about how he knew Holtz was a chip off Ara and ND was headed in the right direction. 1988 was awesome. Hopefully this year will be the year. My son has watched every game with me this year. Very cool even though he is young. He already knows Ann Arbor is a whore and Miami are a bunch of criminals. Indoctrination is interesting to watch.

Your grandfather is a very smart man.

I'm 32. I'm about the only sports fan in my close family. My dad will watch the occasional sports game, and neither of my brothers are sports fans. My earliest memory was probably the early 90s. I grew up out in the country so cable didn't exist. We had one main TV in the house, and sports was never on it. So I put an old black and white 13" TV in my room and got in what I could on Saturdays on local TV. That just happened to be ND on our local NBC network. From the early 90s till the early 2000s I was always a dedicated fan, but since about 2004 I've been an adict. Then a few years ago I found this site, and realized there are more. Lol.

What's wrong with your family?! lol

Man this thread makes me feel old. I am coming up on 40 years. In 88 I was already in high school. Remember watching Gibson come in to the World Series game for the dodgers and hitting that home run. Watched every game I could for nd that season especially the national championship game. 93 was my junior year at nd and that fsu game was the greatest game I have ever been at.

You're a pup. Just wait your turn. When you get to be in your 60's like some of us, you'll understand.

Me being only 17 I have never experienced anything like this. I have always wanted to but after the Weis years I thought well we would be BCS bowl good but not National Championship good.

I'm 33. I can vaguely remember '88, but I can clearly remember the phantom clipping call against Colorado and the screw job in the polls in '93. Never lost faith.

Maybe I'm not alone on this one...I'll remember the 2012 season as the one that probably turned me into a wuss. Between Manti's losses and the manner in which he handled them, goal line stands, near miracles (Pitt missed field goal), stomping OU in Norman, Kansas State and Oregon going down on the same night I've been moved to tears about a dozen times by this team. Even pump up videos are getting to me.

This year has been one helluva ride, and I'm convinced we have one more win in us.

GO IRISH

My first Notre Dame game was in 1968, I was 8 years old, we lived in Defiance, Ohio and drove 3 hours to see ND games during the Ara Parsiginian years and have been a loyal fan since, I have been to games at South Bend and various away games since. Went to ND Football Camp in 1977 and Joe Montana was our camp counselor, we stayed in the players dorms...great times and memories. Was standing duty at Coast Guard Base St. Louis, MO when we won the National Championship in 1988...can't wait until kickoff tonight...GO IRISH!!!

I'm 60 and I started listening to ND on the radio in the early 60's right before Ara came on board. Huarte, Snow, Hannratty, Seymour, Lynch, Patulski, Clements, Theisman, etc.. When you grow up with National Titles happening every 4-5 years you expect it. It's been a lonnnnnng time since 88 for me.

I'm also 60 and I remember these players well. Watched the Irish in 1966 with my Dad. Then came 1973, 1977, 1988, and now 2013. You younger fans won't recognize the following expression from the great Jackie Gleason, but it sums up my feelings just fine.

"How sweet it is!"

I'll be watching this one with my son.
