I would have to objectively say that there is no way in knowing either way which is a better quarterback in Notre Dame's offense because only Golson will ever command it.
What I will say is that after watching many Ohio State games, Miller is a very dynamic quarterback, and I only hope that Golson can be as effective. I do however hope that Golson can be more effective from the pocket, because that will equal sustained success.
What Miller lacks is a pocket presence, similar to that of the "Quarterback formerly known as shoelace". What this does is allows defense's to latch on to what the quarterback does, and make them one dimensional. Obviously, this takes a very good defense to do it, but more often than not teams will face a few of those each year.
When Ohio State faced a defense worth a shit the great Braxton Miller became one dimensional, and was unable to contribute through the air. His passing game tremendously relies upon the deception that the offense produces, which allows him to hit wide open receivers in stride. If he is asked to be accurate in the pocket, he fails every time.
I have seen Golson contribute in the pocket, but after one year I am not ready to anoint him the next great thing. I will say though, if both individuals first years are compared side by side, Golson was more poised in the pocket. This, I believe, translates more to what type of offense Notre Dame wants to run.
