Agree, you can see he's a step slow compared to the others.

I reall wish Shummate could put it all together. Lots of wasted talent if he doesn't make an impact this year.

I know it can't happen, but if our corners could be KVR, Riggs, Luke with Shummate and Redfield at safety, I'd put our secondary up against almost anyone in the country.

That position is full of talented, experienced kids. I would expect him to look slower than he really is for a little while. He's probably lost.

Hayseed looked mediocre back there for a couple years.

I also like Drue at WILL, though.

I'm talking about physically slower, not conceptually. The video showed man coverage and IMO, you can tell he's not as athletic as the others, spare maybe Farley. I think he'll be much better at LB, plus he already has really good size and is damn strong for a freshman LB.

I don't think its about straight line speed or vertical jump athleticism as it is change of direction and fluid/flexible hips.

That's exatly what I mean. You can tell he's heavy footed at stopping/cutting compard to the others, which is fine. He's perfect for OLB. 'Slower' was a poor choice of words. Not as athletic at cuts/stops, if there's a word for that, lol.

Still wish Shumate could have had a chance at Sam, although the reports on Turner have certainly been strong. Just seems odd for such a highly ranked kid and a great athlete to be a backup for his first 3 years.

Especially since he looked great as a true frosh at Nickelback. Just like Farley was solid as a starting S during his RS freshman year. We've got an abundance of athletes in our secondary, and a dearth of experienced leaders who can get everyone else lined up. Which is why Collinsworth starts and Shumate rides the pine. Very frustrating.

I could be wrong, but I believe that is called agility.

Do we have numbers on Ishaq yet? He looks like he has certainly filled out and has been a beast in the practice videos.

Gets me going but you go around the country and watch some teams pump videos and I would give all of ours about a C+ compared to them.

TP's are legit though

Per ISD tipster...

Trumbetti getting first team reps when media not watching. Bryant is best RB at actually running the ball, struggles mightily in pass pro right now. Redfield playing better than publicly acknowledged, Collinsworth also very solid... guess he's past the injury setbacks.

PANDFAN, could I ask you to get rid of this video and just insert a link instead? Every time I click on this link it autoplays. Thanks.

just click "auto play on" and it will turn it to "auto play off"

Love hearing about Trumbetti. The only clip I have seen from him was from the 8/8 practice vid where he dove Ronnie Stanley (I believe) into the qb in the drill.

Yeah, Shumate and Farley seemed to have regressed as players. Not very encouraging.

And for those that are excited about Trumbetti getting first team reps, I can't share in the enthusiasm. Yes, it's good that Trumbetti is looking good, but to me, it potentially says more about Okwara and Williams than it does about him. I'm not encouraged by that aspect.

My question is how the fuck do you have so many upperclassmen safeties who haven't learned to play the position? Straight talk... why can't Elliot get these guys coached up?

Says nothing about I. Williams, says a lot about Okwara though.

Maybe Elliot isn't the answer? Seems like an incredible person. I honestly don't know much about him or his track record. I know he was Diaco's boy. Does he even recruit?

Because he is the Outside Linebacker Coach. Cooks is the db coach.

A) Elliott would be a quality head coach somewhere if not for the aggressive cancer that almost ended his life sixteen years ago.

B) Elliott coached an admirable season for ND with no kidneys, relying on dialysis all night and for about forty minutes every day at lunch time. He waited for his life saving surgery until after the recruiting season was over before he scheduled it.

C) Diaco was his boy. Taught Diaco most of what he knew about coaching. Bobby Elliott is one man truly respected by everyone who is worth a shit, in college football.

D) Bobby has a particularly civil, instruction oriented approach to coaching that I have only heard players rave about.

E) He is exacting. And he makes his players take responsibility for themselves and their actions from all I have heard.

F) Kelly and the entire staff consider themselves and ND to be lucky to have him.

Says nothing about I. Williams, says a lot about Okwara though.

Exactly, Ishaq plays opposite of Trumbetti. People also forgot how sick of a recruit Trumbetti was. So it may not even have that much to do with Okwara declining, but more that Trumbetti is just a badass.
