Geez, Jhonny Williams vs Q at the 3:57 mark.

he put Big Q on rollerskates too!

Agreed. This may have been the most noticeable rep for me.

If Williams earns reps this year, which it is all but confirmed, then I will quickly admit I was wrong. I didn't think he could gain the size necessary and thought he'd ultimately be moved to TE. It looks like he's a force as a true freshman.

Exciting stuff. I hope we get a good video today. Maybe OLine? WRs? LBs? or what I'd most prefer, highlights!

For me it was Jarron bolting through the middle at the end of the video. Nice!

I'm with you. I'll add that he didn't have video game stats in high school and played at one of the worst levels of high school football there is to play. He faced linemen that were under 6' tall and less than 200 pounds on a weekly basis. The kid should have dominated, and while he was good, he wasn't dominant. Going from getting blocked by 5'10" farm boys to starting on the finest football team in the land is quite the road in 12 months.

I'll believe it when I see it.

First. About freshmen, defensive line, and I Williams. I believe they are keeping the most outstanding camp performances under wrap.

And a few of the wrinkles. I think you are going to see a set where they move IWilliams, Rochell, Bonner inside, and rush these fast freshman from the outside. I haven't got it all figured out, but they are doing a lot of scheming moving IWilliams inside and looping Day around outside. And they will put a guy like KHill or JWilliams on the outside to tee off on the quarterback.

Regarding the DL, I've been meaning to post this for a few days...I found an Irish Illustrated breakdown of the OLs we face this year. I'm sure it's been posted somewhere, but I was looking for something like this to see how difficult our front-seven matchups were on defense.

https://notredame.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1653245

Florida State is loaded, but we already knew that. Stanford is only returning one starter, but Stanford is Stanford. Arizona State returns some starters and should be good. We'll see what USC looks like after a long season (same with our DL). Syracuse, Northwestern and Louisville should all be decent, but I'd be surprised if they overwhelmed our DL. Rice, Navy, Michigan and Purdue should all be pretty weak up front.

The only games that really concern me are FSU and Stanford. ASU's offense will be explosive, but I don't think they overwhelm us up front. If we aren't healthy for late-season games against Northwestern and Louisville, those matchups could be very tough for our DL as well.

Overall, I was pretty encouraged by the schedule of OLs we face. Of course today's news changes that outlook a bit, but we'll be okay as long as our main guys (Day, Jones, Rochell) stay healthy.

I'm actually more curious how the defensive strategy changes (if at all) with the recent news. Like someone mentioned in the other thread, you've suddenly lost one of your best lock-down corners. Will the staff press on, or will they reassess the situation?

I'll be there. Was so looking forward to this, and then the shit storm happens fml.

I remember last year at this time, I came out of practice feeling better about Rees, but worse about the team bc there was very little fire, far less than I had ever seen at a ND practice. Especially from the defensive line. Nix and especially Tuitt were just going through the motions, putting as little effort in as possible.

I'm hoping to see some fire today. I'm hoping to see the team galvanized by this. Unfortunately, if rumors of others on the team also being involved, I could possibly see some unfocused players. I'm hoping not though...

Aren't the only rumors coming from scrubs like us making shit up?

Please tell me if I'm wrong, (I often am) but I haven't seen any other names being brought up outside of a dorky message board.

From the practice clips I've watched it really looks likes the team has good comradery. Hopefully this makes it stronger.

Look on the bright side. Today is the day we're most likely to actually draw a lot from the 3 minute practice video, lol.

I believe the "22" others that were mentioned were past players. Makes no sense to hold only 4 out and not any other active players.

I would take that 22 others with a serious grain of salt. When rumors like this come out, at a certain point, throwing shit on the wall to see if it sticks becomes the norm.

I thought "22" others were not just dedicated to football team. I thought it in kids other sports and general student population.
