There's also a video of Kobe dunking over a pool of snakes.

I really hope I'm the laughing stock of IE when Baratti is absolutely killing it out there this year. Being a linebacker sized speed demon who athletically stands out against any competition. I won't hold my breath, though, as I'm adamant IMO that he does not run a 4.45 laser 40, or anywhere near.

I wasn't. Redfield is an elite player. His upside is about as good as it gets. And if Baratti is 6'3", 220 and runs a 4.45 laser timed 40, I cannot think of a safety tandem with more potential. Ever.

I think the 2001 Miami Hurricanes safety tandem (Ed Reed and James Lewis) would have something to say about that. Both drafted in the NFL, with Ed Reed going in the first round or possibly Sean Taylor and Brandon Meriweather.

Baratti is 6'3 220? And runs a 4.5? Since when? Or do I have the wrong player?

GBDomer, have you heard any other insights into spring camp this year that hasn't been discussed in a BK presser?

I can't speak for kuehnja, but I think he's just saying that if Baratti ran a legit, NFL Combine 4.45 we'd either have been wowed by him by now or he'd have gotten more use by Diaco during the season.

He might not be correct but this certainly isn't as controversial a position as people are making it out to be.

He's not saying Baratti had a shmashmortion.

Personally, I just want him to wrestle a f*cking bear!!! Sooooo, he's wrong! *Slams gavel*

Harrison Smith was 6'2", 213 lbs., and ran a 4.57 at the combine. He was described by the NFL as "ultra-athletic." He is also listed as questionable in man coverage despite his speed and athleticism because of poor footwork.

Baratti could end up being 6'1", 210 lbs, and run a 4.5+. That is pretty darn good too. That doesn't mean he was going to be a great safety from day 1.

I mean I'd take both in a heartbeat, but if you even phrase it as he did in terms of potential on the same team, both Ed Reed and Sean Taylor were on that 2001 team.

This debate is dumb. Football history is littered with examples of physically gifted players who didn't live up to the expectations set by their measureables. Look no further than some of our quarterbacks -- Hendrix and Crist are guys who had all the physical talent (not to mention the meeting-room smarts) that you want, but couldn't put it together on the field (not to give up on Hendrix ... he may get it yet). Or Taylor Mays, who people have already mentioned ITT ... San Francisco gave up on him because they saw a great athlete but not an NFL safety. We simply cannot infer, now or in the future, if the current depth chart at safety remains unchanged, that because Farley is playing over Baratti it must be that Baratti's measurables have been inflated.

I think we might beat Purdue this year. Maybe.

No way dude. We are going to completely blow the socks off of them. They don't have any athletic elites or 40 times. Like, if we don't beat them by 100 points, I will fart in a hippo's face and sell my soul to the devil.

If debating dumb stuff plus stating the obvious ceased on IE, there would easily be a 50% drop in posts per day at minimum. Would that be good for IE's advertising?

if Baratti is 6'3 220 and with a 4.5 speed id cross train him at LB this year. Its starting to look like a log jam at Safety

No idea about Baratti's size but he dusted the other safeties last year when they ran the 40 in practice. He's fast.

Fast and playing fast are two entirely different things. As mentioned above: if we didn't post the obvious our post count would be down by 50%.

Good god, could you imagine these two playing together in their collegiate prime together!

I agree mister white, there is no way we can beat them. they have elite athletic types and elite 40 times. those definitely win football games, no question. Purdue is a powerhouse of college football. Also like to add that only the wisest of men can fart in hippo's faces. proceed with caution
