It matters because the angles are different in terms of the ball coming out of his hands, his blind spot is different ... basically having a lefty QB makes the passing offense backwards.

But I totally agree with you that, just in general, people sometimes overthink this. There have been plenty of successful left-handed QBs whose teams have been able to figure this out how to adjust to this. Steve Young and Michael Vick come immediately to mind. I'm sure there are others.

Tons of them.

I wouldn't mind if ND had a QB with a college career like that of Matt Leinart, or Tim Tebow

Guys like Pat White, Mark Brunell, Boomer Esiason, Ken "the Snake" Stabler, Jim Zorn and Scott Mitchell also come to mind.

Mark Brunell's the one that always comes to mind for me, but there have been a ton of them. Josh Heupel, Tebow, Cade McNown, Boomer Esiason, Todd Marinovich, Pat White, Chris Simms, A Certain USC Quarterback Who Shall Not Be Named. I think you're right that we tend to overthink the impact of left-handedness.

Thanks. I almost totally blanked on lefty QBs. Lol. Don't know how some of those didn't come to mind right away.

Just watched the video of Kelly addressing the media this morning, and Kelly's assessment of three players in particular really stood out to me:

1) C.J. Prosise. Kelly lit up when talking about him at slot WR. Loves his ability to make plays with/on the ball and still be a force as a blocker. (I'm telling you guys, C.J. will be our Hines Ward this fall. I'm psyched about it).

2) Jarrett Grace. Kelly LIT UP when talking about Grace. Does everything you want, all over the field. 7 INTs? Maybe not, but high hopes.

3) Corey Robinson. catches everything near him. Just have to get him stronger. He's "moving in with Longo"; I think that was Kelly's phrase. Now that they see how skilled he is, they are extra motivated to get him stronger.

Some people thought Kelly looked bummed about Neal and Ferg leaving, but I didn't see that. It's next man in, business as usual.

That Kelly presscon was revelatory. He demonstrated that he at least realizes that this team is still quite loaded, thank you very much, and "will be ready by the Temple game to play Championship football".

Also, he said several things which should have made several of the more thoughtful posters on IE smile. a]. NMart at center with Hegarty doing well too; b]. Watt never seriously viewed as moving; c]. Lombard a real possibility at RG; d]. Jarrett Grace REALLY good and basically the job's his; e]. Fox/ Calabreese ain't broke so don't fix it; f]. Kendall Moore still doesn't quite get the system aspects of the job; g]. Prosise, and Carlisle look good for slot, with Onwualu physically ready to play.

Man! All that gave me confidence, as I'm sure it did many others here, that we aren't completely crazy in our distant best guesses as to what's really going on afterall. Thanks Coach, for the frankness.

Agreed. I really saw it as more matter of fact. They weren't here for practice, we are moving on. I thought he seemed pretty at peace with it all.

The news about Grace has me fired up as well. And the look on BK's face while he was talking about Grace made me think he was holding back some praise as he didn't want to reveal too much.

I may have misinterpreted BK on the future transfer talk, but I heard it as this is the way it is in college football. The roster is constantly changing and there will be times we lose people and there will be times we gain people. The coaches will adjust and move on.

Just seems like we have taken our fair share of loses with transfers and injuries without many gains. A lot of young players are going to be asked to step up, as a young guy coming in you gotta like your chances to get in the mix.

If I were Kelly I would be a little bummed out as well but I didn't see it that way during his presser. The staff puts in tons of hours recruiting and it has to be a downer to see all that work clean out their locker and move on. Kelly learned a lot from that 2012 class and I think you will see the difference in the 2013 and future classes moving forward. After seeing the results of last year and how many of us felt about the team last spring, I will never doubt this coaching staff again. Sure there will be ups and downs but I haven't been this confident in us since Holtz! Stay positive gents we are making **** happen!

Agreed.

That being said I think our transfer gain(Amir) is greater than any of our transfer losses.

Didn't know the Davaris show was today

George breaking ankles again.

Some quiet constants in every video IMO:

Mathias Farley
Troy Niklas
Cam McDaniel
Sheldon Day

I would add Corey Robinson to that list; makes a catch at about the 1:47 mark

I'm starting to need a roster sheet next to me when I watch these videos. #17 on offense..someone with #20 who isn't Cierre...yup, I'm confused.

Great stuff! (except for that Liebscher/Romano rep ... not sure how that made the video)

George had a decent catch. Considering how much you hear about how weak his receiving skills are, that was encouraging.

Massa also had a nice rep (matched up against a walk-on, but still). I'd like to see him get on the field next season ... don't expect it to happen, but it would be a nice story.

I do. More of a complete team. Lots of players with lots of experience. The key/core players are still there and will only get better then add in EV, Redfield, Bryant, Folston, J.Smith...

Might be more talented, but undefeated regular seasons are difficult to come by.

I have to second this thought. Winning 12 in a row is a very difficult thing to do. We had a few things go our way last season to get to that number its difficult to get back there. With that said I think the prospects for a high quality team are there and making a run at the BCS championship should be the goal.

sorry if has already been said and i'm not trying to start rumors, but my ann arbor buddy who let me know about neal and ferguson before i was able to get on here today, told me that he is hearing shumate may be gone.

agreed makes no sense for a guy who played so much and probably was going to start this year to leave, but that's what he's hearing....REALLY hope that's not the case ,but with BK saying today's transfers may not be the last only makes me wonder

plus didn't see him in any of the highlights, though that might not be a huge indicator

Rivals has debunked that.
