Yes. four things stuck out to me in that video.

1. Ishaq owning Koyack at the point of attack
2. Mahone moving the pile.
3. Day lighting quick of the snap -->4. The move GA III puts on Day and we thought GA III couldn't move laterally lol.

That wasn't much of a lateral move.

It was a freeze. He has used this move many times, very effective. Still can't dance like Theo or Cierre.

As long as it works. I'm cool.

One thing I like about all these videos is how far ND has come. Not one person is saying how Baaad so and so looked. But I'll give it time

For the record, I said his side-step was absolutely nasty. I felt vindicated when I saw that haha

Yep. Farley has had some good moments. The interception the other day. Stood McDaniel up and drove him back today. I don't think he's planning on giving up his starter status easily.

How are Davonte Neal and Will Mahone doing? I'm not listening a lot of things about them. Neal needs a good spring if he wants to be a starter. Love his passion and support to teammates.

OMM: Chase is going to have a hard time coming back from this. There is only so many times you can reattach that muscle. Amir; well we will see.

Really disappoint to hear about Chase and Amir. Was really looking forward to both getting reps. Was really impressed with Amir's game speed and moves from the little we got to see. Hopefully both can recover and theres no other health concerns going forward for either.

Folston too.

If George isn't able to take a lot of snaps, it could leave room for Folston.

Cam and Will will be getting a lot of reps too.

If George gets some snaps, Bryant gets some snaps, Folston finds some room, and Cam and Will both get a lot of reps, that's five guys taking handoffs, not including Amir. There is no way five guys all see a fair amount of reps.

I have no idea how it is going to play out, or who will win the position battle, but I do know that there is no way 5 guys all get consistently used.

I could see three guys all taking equal reps during the season, with a fourth (Mahone) taking short-yardage and goalline snaps... but I don't see 5 guys all staying involved.

I'm not so sure Cam will get many chances on offense. I like him, and it is obvious that Kelly likes him a lot. But, he is a lot like Mike Anello from a few years back. A scrappy, hard-working guy who you wouldn't think twice about putting in on special teams because he is all about effort. But I doubt he's not going to get many snaps. There is just too much talent at RB, and Cam is smallish and not as athletic as some of the others. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

Seems to me like the people who aren't 100% on board are leaving on their own already. Not sure I get your point.

It is not good that 4 of our best recruits that kelly has been able to reel in are gone. Lynch, Prestwood, Kiel, Neal. That's not exactly a great trend.

“@ChiTribHamilton: Echoing @Matt_Fortuna: #NotreDame just today switched interview lineup from assistants to Brian Kelly for Wed. AM. Pretty clear why.”

Kiel
He wants to start and he wasn't starting anytime soon with Golson having 3 years left. Him transferring was seen from 1,000 miles away.

Lynch
A good player but from what heard, he was a hot mess, a cancer to the team, and did not bring a great locker room presence.

Neal
He is having a kid. How can you blame him for leaving?

Prestwood
He was having trouble with grades. For his future's sake, that was a good decision by him.

So the guys that you mentioned, I wouldn't necessarily say they tansferred because they don't want to be at Notre Dame

Happens to every school, and all of those are examples of guys who either are not all in for what ND is about (Prestwood and Lynch), have extenuating circumstances at home (Neal), or are leaving because they can't beat out superior talent BK has reeled in (Kiel).

I don't know how you came blame Kelly, or even be disturbed, by (1) a kid not knowing what he wants / want is important, choosing to leave and then turning around and trying to come back, (2) a kid having to leave ND because he cared to much about partying that he didn't keep his grades in order, (3) a kid leaving because another of BK's recruits is so good in his eyes he wants to leave to see playing time, and (4) another kid who didn't want to leave ND, but chose to in order to be able to support a new born child.

I am sorry, but I don't see a pattern there that causes me any concern. These are teenagers we are recruiting to play football - there are always going to be issues here and there. It sucks that some of them are high :s: guys, but oh well. I will live and die with the guys who choose to come here, and then do what is necessary to stay.

There are enough high talent guys BK has reeled in to go 12-0, before our highest profile class even reaches ND. Think about that. None of those players you mentioned, along with the other lost recruits, had any impact on ND, yet we still made it to that NC with a RS Frosh QB last year.

If you take a step back and see the big picture, there is nothing to see here.

What is truth is this:
1). We have the best DLine unit in the nation. Lynch's ultimate importance? Not much of a deal, although he will be a great player in his own right.

2). Golson is looking like he might become Tyrod Taylor [just a nicer guy]. Behind him is the most experienced successful-at-back-up play QB around, and learning FAST is Zaire. Kiel's ultimate importance? Not much of a deal, although he will be a great player in his own right.

3). Prestwood: we could have used him. But not at the prime position of need
anyway. We have five guys coming in who might all be better. He'll probably be good, but we in the end don't need him once the line settles this year.

4). Neal. Well, who knows? We have not seen anything have we? And, I sense that Kelly is sliding into a big receiver line-up, which will affect the so-called "slot" position markedly. And, hello Folston and McDaniel.

The reason that I make these comments is mainly to remind everyone of how loaded Kelly has stocked the cupboards. Potential superstars leaving, and we worry about which remaining great playerSSSS need to step up into those spots.

Remarkable coach.

I'm not worried about any transfers; it's a part of every college football program. However, you can never have too many talented players, no matter the depth chart.

Kelly is a very smart guy. Notre Dame is very lucky to have him. As Old Man Mike says "remarkable coach." Kelly will factor in girlfriends, pregnancy possibilities, love of playing football, willingness to compete and earn playing time, need to be the star or transfer, genuine desire to work for and to earn a Notre Dame degree and set yourself up for the next 50 years. Kelly can be and will be more selective in recruiting and will find young men who belong at and will flourish at Notre Dame. Perspective. When Weis got canned - the sky has fallen, Notre Dame is irrelevant and will never compete for the national championship again. I am extremely pleased about where Notre Dame football stands now and about the future. As I typed/wrote in an earlier post, I am more optimistic about Notre Dame football than I have been since the era of Ara.

Yep. Notre Dame will be fine. This **** happens. It happens too often (damn you 2012), but it happens.

Daniels, Jones, Brown. That's not a bad lineup by any stretch of the imagination. Carlisle and Folston carrying the weight in the slot. Ferguson coming alone outside. And oh, Onwualu physically ready to compete already. We'll be fine. You're right, they'll be fine.

If a OC/OG goes down, we can start to worry.

the only thing the slot receiver does in this offense is run crossing routes anyways and they are usually the 4th read a QB has.

I wouldn't be shocked if Will Fuller gets a hard look at slot this year as well. It seems we are forgetting him.
