Well, gentlemen, I'm glad that I gave everyone something to occupy a slow day or two. Didn't expect the persistence of Kuehnja's continued relapse into his old trollism, but at least it had the function of extracting reasonable insights out of everybody else.

I'm not as confident of spurring discussion with this next one, but LAX, I think, asked about the most irreplaceable parts of our football team coming up. I have an odd one: Jarrett Grace. Yep, THAT turned you off didn't it? Here's my VERY shallow reason:

1]. I don't believe that Carlo can give us quality consistent play at the Mike, and that breaking up the successful Foxabreese Chimaera is another negative;
2]. [unpopular thought coming]... I REALLY don't believe that Moore can do this job --- not understanding the proper "fits" and being lost-in-space regularly;
3]. [weak element coming]... I have an irrational but unblockable intuition that Jarrett Grace is THE REAL DEAL in ways we will not be able to believe as this season goes forward;
4]. I see the only high-quality solutions for the absence of Grace [my Catholic Theology tells me that "the absence of grace" is a VERY bad thing], are the freshmen Deeb or JSmith, or possibly a move of Councell. I don't like sudden moves or steep learning curves on a #1 defensive powerhouse which gives us a chance to win 10-12 games otherwise.

That's my incendiary bomb and I'm [sort-of] sticking to it. [Note: to avoid useless distractions, I'm not saying Grace is more important than Nix et al, just "one of..."].

The beginning of this is a very bad post. I wasn't trolling at all. You're not immune to being questioned on a lofty statement, are you?

If you think that was trolling, maybe it's time for a change of scenerie for you.

I actually don't think kuehnja trolls. I think he is just pathologically unable to let go of an issue once someone disagrees with him on it. I've struggled with that sickness myself, so I have some sympathy ... but I am gullible and bad at identifying trolling. It took a long time before I would admit that ALLGATOR was a troll.

It's definitely that, but I also don't think I'm wrong here lol ;).

Reading through the posts it appears he if referring to the DL depth.

If that is the case then he is a pure hater...and a moron.

...and worth a neg rep.

I've been on the site for awhile and have heard the term "Neg rep" and have never known what it means. Does something happen like you lose bank? Can anyone neg someone else? Is it just public scolding? all serious questions...I don't know.

Think of it as up votes and down votes. It's your "reputation" as a poster. Located under the "Donate" to the left, green bar is good, red is bad. Yes any one can rep or neg rep anyone else. To do this click on the little scale to the left of the post you want to approve/disapprove (rep/ neg rep). I would advise you to use your neg rep wisely. People are very sensitive about their green bar.

If we lost Tommy Rees we'd just use Hendrix and there'd be minimal drop off if that. The only scare would be if we were then afraid to run Hendrxi because we had only 2 QBs on the depth chart... at which point things might get a little hairy. Go watch what he did against a great Stanford defense as a RS frosh coming in as relief for Tommy after Tommy got pulled at halftime... Hendrix can flat out play. If he was the EE instead of Tommy in his class... man, it's interesting to think about.

Here are the facts of Hendrix' play against Stanford in 2011:

Rushing: 12 rushes for 20 yards, 1.7 Yds/carry, 1 Td
Passing: 11-24 for a 46% completion rate - 192 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int

A pedestrian performance.

Then, he's a garbage time player in 2013.

I'm predicting he's finished by mid season if not sooner, replaced by Zaire.

Hendrix played against Stanford in 2012? Odd I don't remember that… I remember golson getting knocked out and Tommy saving the game.

If you are talking about 2011 Hendrix played pretty darn well in that game accounting for 200+ yards and 2 TDs in one half of play. Stanford owned us at the LOS though.

Edited for accuracy. Thank you.

I stand by my prediction.

The weight these kids put on in such a short time is unreal. Brown up 19 in a year? Robinson up 8 since spring? Wow.

Cited lots of physically mature young players standing out today - specifically mentions from the freshmen Bryant, Fuller and Luke.
