Here's a hypothetical question...

If you could take those projections right now in place of letting this play out, would you?

I would be tempted to.

No Michigan or USC in a BCS game, we get a really good BCS game, and Alabama destroys OSU in the title.

Id rather we play it out and we beat bama in the NC.

Jerry Palm's bowl projections have us in the Orange playing FSU. No bowl game for USC....

OSU in the championship. No way I'm taking it. I hate OSU just as much as UM or USC. Though I couldn't complain abou the Orange Bowl (or any other BCS game). It would really legitimize us. No one could (reasonably) say our trip to the BCS championship game was a fluke (though some will still say that).

Hey, I was just answering your hypothetical. lol

I couldn't bear to watch bama win a 3rd title in a row.

I'd take Bama over OSU, though. If OSU continues to build their recruiting momentum, that will be a serious problem competing for midwest players with Michigan and OSU rising to power.

OSU has always had a massive recuriting prescence in the midwest. It hasn't gone anywhere. scUM will self depricate and fall on their own. I went to their spring game. Nothing to see there.

I'll still take a rematch in the NC against bama.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to. But I think it's more likely we DON'T make the NC game, which, given USC misses a bowl and Michigan misses BCS, and we make the Orange, I'd probably take the prediction given this hypothetical.

You went to Michigan's spring game? Give us a breakdown!

Where to start...

It was cold as shyte and snowing, they served cold coffee inside the stadium. The hot pretzels were cold. Everything about that damn place was cold. Except the bathrooms. The bathrooms reaked of **** even though there was hardly anyone there. Wait you probably want to know about how the team looked don't you...

I am no where near an expert, so take this with a grain of salt.

Punters are god awful. FG kickers were kicking into a strong cross wind and suprisingly made the majority of their kicks.

They didnt play a normal game like we do at the blue and gold game. They played 2 20 min halfs that were just restarted from the LOS where ever the coaching staff wanted. It was really more of a practice or run through than a game.

Offense primarily worked out from deep in their own territory. Lots of short quick out routes. I think there were 2 or three deep balls. Gardner was pretty accurate on the day from what i remember, but the back ups were horrible. Other than gardner their completion percentage was pathetic. Their run game was pretty no existent.

The D line was def getting a big push on their o line, which was expected. Dbacks looked pretty good at keeping the ball in front of them, but the play calling was very vanilla. Nothing really to challenge the d backs that much. I dont remeber how the linebackers did.

Florida State is the projected winner of the ACC and will land in the Orange Bowl for the second consecutive season. With the first at-large pick after replacement selections, the Orange Bowl takes Notre Dame

USC 2013 Schedule

USC 2013 Schedule

There's a lot of talent on that team to not make a bow. It would be stunning if they didn't but it's possible. Keep in mind Palm is not doing this seat of the pants like Dodd or Hayes picking their Springtime Top 25. Palm is doing his computer prognosticating thing and forecasting the season.

Looking at USC's schedule I'd expect HI, WSU, BC, and CU are gimmies.

ND and SU should be USC losses as well as UCLA and OSU. That would make them 4-4 with 4 up for grabs.

Good news for them is they don't play Oregon this year. but the bad news is the rest of their schedule can play with them. NOTE They don't have any SEClike out of division breathers, so if their thin squad sustains injuries playing 12 games against the big boys those last 9 games could be a gauntlet.

@OSUwest L Consensus Top 20
@CAL ?

Normally I'd be all for a rematch with Florida State, but since we just faced them two years ago and we'll be facing them more regularly with an ACC schedule, I'd rather match up with someone else that we may not get to see as often. Unfortunately if we have 1ish losses during the regular season, and FSU is ACC champ, this could very well happen.

I see your point, but I also wouldn't mind playing fsu, if not for the exact reason u just pointed out, that were going to see them on a consistent basis, I'd like to get some experience/film against them.

with what's going to be more and more recruiting battles in Florida, i would rather beat fsu in a bcs this year just to send message to conference and show the kids we offer the best.

The Irish also owe FSU a jumbo-sized can of whoop *** to make up for the 2011 Champs Bowl. I'd rather settle that account sooner than later.

I actually think the orange bowl sounds about right. I really believe our only losses could come against Oklahoma and Stanford. Michigan will be tough but I think we finally close the deal at the big house this time. I can't take another heartbreaking loss. Gonna surely miss playing them since I live close to Ann Arbor and always go to that game. 11-1 with a loss to Stanford and we play Clemson in the Orange Bowl is my prediction..

Why do you think we'll lose to Oklahoma? We'll be better than last year and they'll have a first year starting QB and have questions on both sides of the ball.

Same reason we had no chance to beat them last year supposedly. Just seems like a trap game with them looking for redemption. Who knows? Just my opinion. I also said our only loss is to Stanford in my prediction..

Man. If Stanford is our only loss, that game's gonna be huge. And a huge bummer.
I think two losses, to some combo of Michigan, Oklahoma, USC and Stanford. Still puts us in position for a BCS bowl, though. So Orange against an ACC champ would be a reasonable guess.

I am not threatened by USC this season like I have been recently. I really expect a down year from them. Yeah, they were 7-5 or whatever last season, but they were still dripping talent. Depth should be a real issue for them this year, no?

Sure. But a lot of us weren't feeling threatened by USC in 2011 either. And they creamed us. So much with them boils down to desire and health. I certainly wouldn't count them out just yet.

Creamed us? Are we talking about the same game that we were one play away from tying it vs going down 14. We were outplayed for much of the game, but creamed? No.

Yeah, we had our shot, thanks largely to a kick return for a touchdown. But they won that game handily.

We had a first year starting QB and questions on both sides of the ball, last year.

Only thing is Ok doesn't have Brian Kelly and the coaching staff ND does. Remember how many people lamented the fact that we "dropped the ball" and got a "lowly" Brian Kelly, instead of a proven, top performer like Bob Stoops?

The other problem I have with likening OK to where we were last year is that their defense has been taking a nose-dive. The last couple of years, they have been dropping off, statistically and with the depth chart. Some of us saw a top ten defense in the works at ND the year after Kelly came. Can anyone say that with the OK group?
